Lizzie said she was going to leave the root color on for 30 minutes. I told her that my gray is getting more resistant and it's usually left on for the maximum amount of time. She checked at 30 minutes and said it was fine. I was concerned, but I trusted her. Also my balayage and highlights on the rest of my hair was darkened!! my hair is below my collarbone. I called and they brought me back in 4 days to redo my roots and use a clarifying shampoo to bring my highlights back. She could see that roots around my ears were very gray. Because they blow dried my naturally wavy hair it was hard to tell, but my highlights looked brighter. It's been 5 weeks and slowly my highlights are darkened again! This has never happened in all the decade I've had my gray roots colored!! Lizzie cut my hair well but didn't cut enough. I told her that if my hair gets heavy, my headaches might come back. She said she liked my length of hair. My hair is starting to feel heavy. She pretty much told me what she liked and what she was going to do and did not ask both times. The first time it was Saturday before Mother's Day so they were swamped and she was rushing like crazy! I hardly got to give input. Now I will have to go someplace else and spend money to get my balayage back!!

After my longtime hairstylist left the industry, I found myself searching for a new salon. After seeing so many glowing reviews, I decided to give Studio B Salon a try. On 3/28, I saw Ana for a haircut, color consultation, and to discuss getting a Cezanne treatment. Ana gave me an amazing haircut and recommended products that I absolutely love. We also talked through my future color plans and the smoothing treatment. I was informed that Ana did not perform the Cezanne treatment herself, but one of her coworkers did. I specifically asked whether I should do the color or the treatment first, and I was told it did not matter. On 4/18, I saw Chelsea for the Cezanne treatment. My hair looked incredible shiny, smooth, and completely frizz-free. I followed all aftercare instructions exactly, including waiting the full three days before washing or getting my hair wet. Aside from the typical product smell, the results were amazing. For the first time in forever, I could let my hair air dry without frizz, which is unheard of for my hair type. I get this treatment yearly and have never had issues before. Normally it lasts me through summer until fall humidity settles down. Then on 4/22, I returned to see Ana for vivid color (what the salon calls "unicorn hair"). Because I previously had blue and green tones in my hair, a color remover was used to lift the existing color. I was excited because the salon offered a non-bleach option for lifting vivid color. Before proceeding, I AGAIN confirmed that the color lifting process would not affect my Cezanne treatment, and I was reassured multiple times that it would be fine. Ana did an amazing job with the color itself. The lift came out beautifully, and the final vivid red was gorgeous. I truly loved the result. However, after only a few washes, I noticed the effects of the Cezanne treatment fading rapidly. The signature smell from the treatment disappeared almost immediately, and my hair became progressively frizzier with each wash. At first, I tried to give it time and assumed maybe I was overthinking it. This past weekend was my first time out in humidity since the services, and my hair looked as though I had never had the treatment done at all less than a month after paying for it. When I contacted the salon, I was told I was outside of their 7-day touch-up period and that any corrective service would be considered completely new. I spent over $1,000 in less than a week at this salon (not including the March haircut appointment) only to essentially be told I could pay again for an "express" Cezanne treatment that lasts around 10 weeks and could potentially lighten my freshly colored hair meaning I may also need to pay to recolor it afterward. That response was incredibly disappointing. I trusted the salon's expertise and specifically asked multiple times whether these services would interfere with one another. Had I been properly advised, I would have scheduled them differently or waited. Instead, I'm left feeling like I paid a premium price for services that cancelled each other out, with no accountability or empathy from management afterward. The stylists themselves were kind and talented, especially Ana, whose haircut and color work I genuinely loved. But unfortunately, the lack of customer service and unwillingness to stand behind the recommendations given left me extremely disappointed overall. Based on my experience, I would personally only recommend this salon for haircuts.

Demanding to know why they were there and they didn't show up for an appointment in December that was never made. She will never get another dime from my mother and I will make sure everyone knows how horrible she is. The audacity of her to yell and an elderly person that looks forward to her once every other month outing. Have some common decency Cathy. You are what's wrong with todays world. Doesn't cost you a dime to be nice to someone. Have the day you deserve. Gave one star only because it was required. Would give a negative 50 if it was allowed.

My Mom got her hair done here recently and recommended I check it out. Cathy's has been around for some 20 years - most of that time was spent in a location in Gainesville in the Gainesville Village Square strip mall - a location which is now history due to acquisition of the property by the Virginia Department of Transportation for a road improvement project. The new location is in Haymarket - they have taken over a large chunk of the space previously occupied by Blackberries. Tammy was my hair stylist. She gave me a wash and then cut my hair. My hair is not that long so it's not like it's rocket science. She did a nice job. She seems like a nice person, and its a cool small town hair salon.

This is the most amazing place I've been to in a long time with an artist owner. I'd have to wait a bit, but the fact a stylist, who posts pictures of pixie cuts and does artistic magic with hair and color, would fit me in meant I'd wait for hours, if needed. You walk in and it's filled with flowers and the most amazing interior design features. She designed it herself. Gorgeous. Already I can see the flair and creativity. Yuri was finishing up with a lady with longer hair and I could see the cut and motion of the hair looked fabulous. She was kind, direct, and attentive too. I've got super short hair and it has been a nightmare finding someone to cut it. Why? It's very very fine and I've never had dense hair. It's also stick straight. You screw up and it's obvious. Yuri wasn't phased by this, looked at pics and went right to cutting with expert scissor use, clippers, and thinning shears. She sprayed my dry hair- what really should always be done with super short hair- and her hands started flying. She moved the hair on my head to see how it reacted and cut expertly. She listened to requests and did it perfectly while also adding her own flair and style. Before cutting bangs and using razors, she sent me for a wash. Her assistant gives the most amazing wash, condition, and massage I've had anywhere. She's magic. And kind. Back to the chair to finish it all off. Unbelievable and fantastic.
