I went in to see Eliana with a grown-out cut and vague ideas--'just fix it, keep the length, and give me some face framing layers, please.' She nailed it. No weird layers, no surprise shortness, just clean lines and that, 'I woke up like this' vibe. Super chill and friendly too--Eliana didn't rush me, asked real questions. I've been here twice. I don't like how I wasn't told the price before the service. It made it a stressful experience. The staff are nice. My hair turned out okay, not worth the amount paid though. I had to go back for an adjustment and they made it sound like it was what I wanted and it was not. Questionable if I would go back. I think $40 extra for a blow dry is ridiculous. That should be included with a coloring to make sure it's the correct results. read more

I had the BEST experience today at the ASH location in The Plains!! Upon entering...my new stylist Suzie greeted me so warmly in this new super cozy salon!! She took a lot of time listening to my hair drama/needs and we decided on a gameplan! I was so relaxed in this place, Suzie and the other girls working were so fun to chat with and the jazz music, windows open vibe was just what i needed to unwind a bit! Foils came out... and what a treat that Suzie kept me turned away from the mirror while styling so i could have a BIG reveal moment!! And WOW....it was a happy tears moment....I just love my new hair and I feel like myself again! I seriously could not recommend this salon more and especially Suzie's talent!! Amazing salon in the heart of Haymarket! This is a very cool, upscale place. The space is decorated beautifully, sleek/fun look. The staff is friendly and they offer an array of beverages while you're there. On to the stylists: From looking at their social media accounts as well as the work I've seen during my visits, all the stylists are pretty incredible. The owner Ashley, who is fabulous, has put together a whole crew of other stylists who know their shit. I've been to Ash twice now and have seen Charlotte both times. She is one of the youngest stylists I have ever been to but I am not exaggerating when I say she has the work ethic and skills of someone who has been coloring and cutting hair for decades. Today was my second visit to Ash Salon in Haymarket. Victoria H was my stylist last time and today and I can't say enough positive things about the customer service, the vibe, the attention to detail, and the pampering. Ashby (hope I spelled this correctly) was Victoria's assistant and she was amazing. She was focused on my foils and knew which ones needed to be removed so my hair didn't over-process. Victoria has been diligent in correcting a prior haircut that was a disaster ( NOT at this salon and was a thumbs down). The color, the cut, the advice was on point and I am definitely referring others to this salon. Two thumbs up! read more

This was my first time here and my first balayage. I have only had my hair highlighted twice, one time not being a great experience. I came to this salon to see Carlee, who was recommended to me by a friend. I was able to book Carlee last minute for a simple wash and blow dry (with curls thrown in). I booked day of, which is very unusual. The receptionist was extremely helpful and nice and answered all of my questions, such as whether or not I should wash my hair first or not, what the total estimate was, etc. Getting to the salon and finding parking was very easy. The interior was absolutely adorable! Chic and boho, but modern, at the same time. It's surprisingly spacious inside, and they offer lots of different hair products for sale by the waiting area. They also offer some locally made accessories for sale as well, and I ended up purchasing a bracelet. The girl who did my wash was super sweet, as was everyone I ran into! The vibe in the salon felt like a bunch of girl friends hanging out. Carlee was great. I was able to discuss my future plans for my hair (I eventually want to do blonde balayage) and get her suggestions and expertise. I loved my end result and am excited to show off my curls for my Valentine's date night! I already can't wait to come back! read more

Unfortunately I had to give up on this salon. I went here for a couple of years until my stylist relocated. Then after that it was all down hill. I gave two other stylists a try (I will refrain from calling out their names), and both experiences were awful. Supposedly, they are very well seasoned stylists, but I didn't experience that. I asked both to do the exact same to my hair that my previous stylist did, blonde highlights and cut (notes/color formulas were taken) and my results didn't come close. First stylist tried charging me for a partial balayage, which she didn't do, and the second time I had to come back to get it color corrected. Disappointed with the way both situations were handled by the manager, especially trying to charge for a service I didn't receive. I will never step foot in here again. read more

I just had the best experience I've EVER had at a salon. This salon is upscale but without any of the stuffy and snobby attitudes you get at some places. This was my first time going to Ash Salon and let me tell you I was not disappointed. I had an eyelash lift and tint, partial balyage and hair cut. Niki was an amazing hair stylist. She painted the color on my hair with such care. She took her time with me and explained what she was doing during each step of the process. I felt completely comfortable with her even though it was the first time she's ever touched my hair. The color looks so natural. She's truly an artist with color. Agnes made my own natural eyelashes look amazing and took such care with my eyes explaining what she was doing and the products being used. I really appreciated that she was careful with my eyes and lashes. When I saw my eyes I couldn't believe they were my real eyelashes! She did such a beautiful job. On a side note this salon is beautifully decorated. There was obviously a lot of care taken with each detail all the way down the the lights where you get your hair washed. Loved it! Wow! The new location is even cuter than their first. It's a beautiful space and one of their employees was kind enough to show me the spa area that is so inviting and beautiful. All the women that work there that I interacted with had great, friendly customer service. Carlee gave me a nice hair wash, cut just how I wanted it and provided some excellent tips for hair styling and products. They carry a great line of hair products like R&C. I had a terrible experience at Ash Salon. First, I knew that they touted themselves as a high end salon in Haymarket, VA so I set up a consultation with their master stylist. I discussed my needs and we agreed to a cost range. I confirmed the services and cost range on the day of the consultation with their manager, Emily V. Two days after this consultation I called again to ensure that I understood the services and range of cost. Emily promised that it would not exceed this price range and would be closer to 330 dollars rather than the 330-350 range given. On the day of the service, the stylist went ahead and did my hair and at the end charged me $550! I was so upset, and they threatened me that I could not leave the premise until I paid them in full. I tried to speak to the manager on the day of the service but they said she was offsite and too busy. I still even tipped the stylist (Christina). They are very unethical in their business practices. They lied to the consumer. Emily avoided my phone calls and wrote back very terse emails instead. I would never trust a place like this again. Consumers are always being taken advantage of, but this small business touts itself as a neighborhood business that caters to neighbors and friends. I took all the necessary steps to avoid from being taken advantage of, but this business got the best of me. Avoid this place if you can. I wish there were better protections by the state of VA against such businesses and their unethical practices. read more

Flat out best hair salon ever. Praise the hair gods seriously. THEY LISTEN! My biggest concern was keeping my hair healthy and that was it. I always hate how hair looks after you get a haircut where it's very straight across the bottom, Ashley made sure to tether it at the ends to make it look natural and grown out. They've cut/colored everyone in my family from my 14 year old daughter getting a blond balayage, to my 17 year old son to me, mom! The atmosphere of the salon is hip yet not pretentious. And they serve mimosas! We've seen all the stylists there and they are ALL are talented beyond belief. And true testament to a great biz: when my daughter's last color appt. didn't turn out exactly how she wanted (and it was still pretty!) they brought her back in and redid it at no charge, so that she would be thrilled with her results. I made an appointment at Ash salon, and I was a bit nervous because It was my first time coming here, I came in for full foil highlights. the environment was amazing it felt so nice and cozy In there which I loved, we didn't wait that long to be called. My hair stylist was Susie and she's so sweet and kind, she talked to me instead of having me sit there quietly, she was so caring and so patient with my hair, she took her time and made me feel comfortable, my hair ended up taking a very long time, and she even stayed 2 extra hours just to make sure my hair was perfect, she didn't rush at all she was very patient with it even after hours, and I really like that she took her time with it, she gave me a trim and curled my hair to show the results and when she turned me around in my chair.. I was speechless she did such an incredible job, she listened to what I wanted, and I've never looked this good in my life, she's so good and so amazing at what she does, I will definitely be coming back and telling my family and friends about her and this salon. Hip looking, pretty salon, but over rated. Looks are deceiving. Not a salon for those with curly hair, good for color, need better way of handling complaints. Feels like a cattle call, rushed, with the hair washers finishing hair (e.g.. putting gel in, etc.) after a $200 plus cut and color. Told them I did not like the way my hair was cut; not what I asked for; had showed a photo of what I wanted. Not close. Could not improve it during the second try. Did nothing to resolve, such as partial refund; how about saying sorry?! Still gave 20 percent tip every time. That's my mistake. no more! read more
