This was the first thing we had booked for the day that we arrived in Praha. We had done a bit of research (of course) and found this company. We liked the tour description, and the fact that it came with food (it's billed as a "beer and Czech tapas" tour). When we first approached the statue of King Wenceslas - about twenty minutes early - we saw a large group of guys. We were afraid that they would be on the tour with us, too! Not that it would have been horrible, but I really am a fan of the smaller, easier to manage tours. So we walk up and see a group of about 25 people, and my heart sank. A couple of minutes later, I looked up and saw someone holding what I thought was a sign for the tour. We headed over towards him (thankfully he wasn't being mobbed by the group of guys), and sure enough, it was our tour guide, Travis. He greeted us by name, which I thought was strange. How did he know us? Half a second later, he put his sign away, and it hit me: we were the only ones on this tour! Thank goodness I like the small tours, eh? I won't recap the entire night of booze and food for you, but I do need to say that Travis now shares the title of "best tour guide EVER" with our guide Mac from Edinburgh. Travis is an expat - originally from Idaho. And listening to him talk about Prague validated my initial love for this city. He speaks with such passion about the place, the history, the beer and the people that it absolutely makes me love the city even more. I tried to explain to him why I'm so in love with a place I've never visited, but I felt like I was stumbling over the words. It didn't matter to him, though, because he not only understands it, he's living it. The tour took us to four places in total, where we had beer and food based on his recommendations. Now, I had just had a fairly large beer on a mostly empty stomach not two hours prior, so I was certain that I'd have a sip or two of the first one, and then call it quits. Prague beer must be magical. I didn't feel the beer at lunch, and two tour beers later, I was still feeling fine. I swear that had this been San Diego, I would've been on the floor at that point. I did end up passing on beers three and four (though I took a couple hearty sips of my husband's serving of beer 3 before he took it away from me), but mostly because I was feeling a slight scratchiness in the back of my throat. In hindsight, drowning these cold germs in booze might have been the best course of action. One of the things we initially liked from the tour description was that the tour promised not to take us to the "touristy" places. Travis took us to places that meant something to him personally, which made it more special for us. These weren't places that were getting a kick-back from his company (or if they were, it wasn't obvious!) These were places that were important to him - to his connection with the city or to his connection with beer. In most of the places, we were the only ones speaking English. It was a fantastic, immersive experience in this country! Besides the booze and food, Travis delivered some excellent history, not only on the city as a whole, but on the neighborhoods we passed through. He was full of suggestions of where to go to eat, drink (of course) and play tourist. And he made us feel like we could belong in a place like this, despite the fact that we don't speak Czech. We're both so happy that we chose this tour, and that we met Travis, his wife Jessica and their friend Diego (they joined us at the second to last stop, and accepted our invitation to finish the night out with us). I was telling my husband afterwards that Travis could have canceled or tried to reschedule us to a different day with a bigger group, and we would never have known. The fact that he came out to tour with just us - and delivered a quality, fun and informative tour every step of the way - speaks loads to his character. My only regret is that we didn't get a picture with the group! Five hours after the tour started, we were making our way back to our hotel (with a map full of Travis-approved selections in our pocket). That definitely was a great way to kick off our time in Prague, and we were excited to try some of the beers and locations (and beers) that Travis had recommended. read more

This was one of the best tours I've ever been on. Sasa has earned a life long customer! I lived abroad and travelled quite a bit, so I can be a bit reluctant to take tours. THIS WAS WORTH IT! Sasa was a fantastic guide. Great blend of humor, cultural context, and flawless English to boot. Not only did we get a really fantastic street level view of the city and all the UNESCO sites, we had a lot of laughs along the way. Sasa is a natural, and born to be a guide. I learned so much about Prague's history, cultural influences and... most importantly the food! If I had more time to spend in Prague, I would definitely do the food tour with Sasa as well. Great stuff! Highly recommend to everyone. This tour was a blast and I recommend it to all. It's a fun four hours during which you travel outside of the main tourist area to four different pubs/bars to try five different beers. Snacks accompany the beers and they are tasty, too. 1. The leader of the tour, Jim, was a laid-back, friendly guy from Austin, Texas, who did a good job of explaining the beers, recommending the order of beers we might want to follow, etc. 2. The tour is small. Several people collected at the meeting point and they split us up into small groups. There were only 8 people in our group. 3. The beers were good - we got to try several different ones. I think most people would have fun on this tour. read more

We went on a six hour walk with Mark on our first day in Prague and it was perfect! Mark is an artist and a historian and he loves architecture -- all things on our list too. He even adjusted the tour to our interests as we walked, showing his knowledge of the city and his ability to listen and get to know his guests. The river/boat tour and lunch came at just the right moments - when we needed a little break. Mark gave us great advice about things to do on the rest of our visit--and provided a superb introduction to the city for me and my Mom. Honestly - felt so lucky to have landed with Urban Adventures. The guides we had were all really knowledgeable and clearly have a passion for sharing their love of history, culture, architecture, and beauty of Prague. Mark's love of these things and his appreciation of the local artists (living and not) made our tour fly by. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! read more

Beer & Tapas Tour - We had a group of 8 people and so our tour with Casey was a private tour! He was awesome and had a unique route mapped out for us. Our first stop was in Prague 6 (a beautiful residential area),it was a small brewery where we got large beers and Tvaruzky (beer battered ham & cheese - aka DELICIOUS!). Our second stop was a short walk though a park to a Lokal where we sampled (and LOVED) the Our Kozel black unfiltered beer and some of "Talian" sausage with grated horseradish and mustard. Our next stop was at the Letna Beer Garden, here we just had beer and enjoyed the view. Our last stop was at a brewery on a boat! How cool is that. We got to try 2 beers from this brewery and for food we had the Goulash and dumplings, a pickled sausage, and for dessert we had the czech pancakes with cream sauce and blueberries. Seriously our guide made the tour amazing, Casey made this night a highlight of our trip. So much good food and beer, local knowledge, and enthusiasm for the city of Prague, the culture, and of course beer! read more

He is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Prague, laid back, friendly and willing to go that extra step to answer all of our questions and make great food recommendations. He also took us to all the main attractions but on back roads, the less touristy route, which I really appreciated. Our guide, Saša Ivša, was an amazing guide. He set the perfect pace through the city of Prague, allowing us the opportunity to observe the sights, take photos and learn about our surroundings. He had a fun, respectful approach and an amusing sense of humor. To enhance our tour and give us energy, he even provided a traditional breakfast pastry with poppy seeds while we visited the main square. The boat ride on the Vltava river gave us an alternate view of the city and was lots of fun too. The restaurant choice for lunch was well chosen, as the location, food, and service made me want to return another time. To finish, the tour was really seamless! Just did a beer & tapas tour with Adam last night! We had such a great time! Adam took us to some really fun spots throughout Prague where we had a choice of local beers and really great food! All of the bars/breweries were very unique and nothing we could have found without the tour. Adam was super knowledgeable in beer culture and overall history of Prague. My friends and I went on the Beer and Tapas walking tour with Tomas last night, and it was a definite highlight of our trip! Tomas was absolutely fantastic - he was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and brought us to awesome local bars that we never would have stumbled upon on our own. I love that it gave us the opportunity to experience more local places instead of the typical tourist bars in the Old Town. Our tour included five full sized beers (plus an optional chug of "milk," which is a Czech pour that consists of mostly foam), so I would definitely recommend pacing yourself if you're not accustomed to boozing. We tasted traditional pilsners and had the option to pick different types of beer at a few of the bars, so if you prefer an IPA or stout, you're covered. We also had really good Czech dishes at each restaurants - the potato pancakes, beef with gravy and dumplings, and mincemeat toast were my favorites. It was by far some of the best food we've had during our entire week in Prague. Apparently each guide picks their own favorite bars so you'll a different experience every time, but I can't imagine having a better tour guide and a better local experience! read more

On our first full day in Prague, we wanted to enjoy the great historical scenic sights by taking a guided small group walking and boat tour around the beautiful city of Prague. Nikola Moustafa from Urban Adventures was one of the most pleasant, energetic, patient, generous, and super knowledgable tour guides that we have ever encountered in Europe. Her tour made you feel that we took a time machine back in time to all of the significant historical events dating back as far as the medievel period all the way up to the modern day Czeck Republic. I made a last minute booking on Tripadvisor and ended up on an Urban Adventures tour. I could not have been more pleased. This was a 6 hour walking tour with our tour guide Janica and she was an absolute delight. She is Czech but has traveled extensively and connected very easily with the folks on our tour. Janica was a wealth of knowledge. She was enthusiastic and proud to share information on her home country. This was a walking tour, but the 6 hours flew by quickly. We started at the Municipal House, visited the Astronomical Clock, and on the way to the Charles Bridge got to ride a Paternoster Lift at City Hall. The tour included a boat ride on the Vltava River and a wonderful local lunch. Janica offered explanations on all the local food options and cuisine and I tried the local cola which was quite unique. After lunch we visited the Lennon wall, saw the David Cerny babies and went up the hill to the castle. Our tour ended after a visit to the castle and church. Janica left us with many tips on places to explore on our own and restaurants we may want to try. I have gone on many tours and this is by far one of the best and most memorable. I attribute much of how wonderful it was to the guide who shared a bit of her country and culture with us. Thank you Janica! read more
