My husband & I are FIRM believers in booking a tour guide to learn about an area & its history, but we're wary of booking with an unknown company. Tours by Locals had great reviews - so we bet on them & WON THE LOTTERY! Money well spent!
Victoria was recommended, & after reading her reviews from others, we're MULTI-Lottery winners! From her excellent pre-trip communications (informative, yet not too many) to her meeting us at our hotel, & our farewell after 3 days together, every experience was amazing. She truly *listened* to what we were saying (& meaning!) - but what we most enjoyed were her insights not only to Prague & its history - but also to current events & her active personal life.
Felt super-safe everywhere we went - even on crowded squares & along the Charles Bridge. Not going to lie - cobblestones are no joke & not fun, but we didn't fall or twist an ankle - and our path was always super-walkable.
Found Czech food isn't really our thing, plus we're both watching calories & carbs. Victoria's lunch recommendations were spot-on wnutritious/tasty Czech dishes. Loved the "sgrafftos" and Kuchyn restaurant!
We took a few trams & a bus to various locales (Old Town, Loreta chapel, Prague Castle w/current gov't offices, St Vitus Cathedral, the New town, the John Lennon Wall, and of course Charles Bridge. Favs were the Old Square with the Astronomical Clock & the Jewish Quarter.)
We had enough time at each day's end to revisit our favorite places, or rest for the next day's adventure.
A final treat was Cesky Krumlov - WHAT other guide would drive you in their private car some 2 hours there & then back just to see her favorite almost-medieval castle? Best meal yet was at Papa's!
By all means - Use Tours by Locals while traveling - and if you go to Prague - Victoria is an ACE! read more
