Walt's is a pretty big hobby shop, with a wide variety of stuff, including RC cars and planes,…read moreplastic models, model rockets, and lots of random supplies for making cool stuff, including paints, balsa, dowels, glues, etc. And as big as it is, there's an even bigger space out back with an RC car track, a crawler track, and even an extra meeting room. That's where Walt's really shines -- long after the posted hours, they open the space to all sorts of local hobby groups. I've been there with a rocket club in the back room, RC cars going on the track, and yet another group up front, meeting in the actual hobby shop part. The staff is super-friendly, and willing to help out and offer suggestions for whatever kind of project you want to take on. If you need hobby stuff, this is a great place to go in the Syracuse area.

This is an excellent hobby store that I stopped by while passing through town. Inside, I found a…read moregreat selection of trains in all of the popular scales (N, HO, and O) as well as a few used pieces in S scale. There was a display layout running by the door and it was fun to watch a Big Boy snake through the layout with a long train. Note that they don't have any wooden (Brio/Thomas) trains in stock, though they did have some O gauge Thomas train sets. Since I didn't have a list of things I needed, I was most just browsing. The owner was very pleasant as I rattled off a list of one-off items and helped me locate what I was looking for. We discussed custom runs for a bit, as well as the the future of the hobby. He clearly knew his stuff, and watching him assist some new modelers with simple, direct answers without an up-sell attached was refreshing. There is a dearth of good full-service hobby shops these days, and yet this one manages to rise above. I highly recommend it.

The guy there was super nice and very pleasant to speak with. He was very knowledgeable about the products offered in the store and a delight to converse with. I certainly didn't know what to expect walking in here, but am glad we stopped in. Give it a go if you're looking for a unique shopping expereince, or some fresh roasted coffees.

We have gone to multiple cities and stores just looking for anything related and have had very little luck. To our surprise we found a little necklace. But that wasn't even the best thing about the trip. We didn't catch the name but whoever was at the front helping us and just talking to us, made my wife and I feel so welcomed and cared for. He made things very easy to find and answered all our questions about anything we had. It felt as if we knew him and have been friends or regulars for years! They also told us about pokemon cards and packs they have that they sell which was perfect because our son just started collecting as well. Would recommend this play to anyone!

I was rather impressed, in fact, with their model rocket stock -- lots of folks carry Estes, but they had a bunch of Quest stuff, and a wide selection of engines and accessories. And prices were pretty competitive. They had brochures for the Syracuse Rocket Club, 60 miles away! I had stopped by for a few minutes on my way south, and the staff was super-friendly to this rando walking in the door. It looks like I have yet another reason to go down to Binghamton a bit more often!
