They might not carry the book of the moment that TikTok insists that you read right now, but they do have a great selection of books you might not find on the shelves at a chain bookstore. (And you can always make a special order.) Spend some time browsing and you're sure to find something you hadn't known you needed to read! All of their books are new, and there are some reduced-price items available. The staff is knowledgeable and super friendly without hovering, they have not one but TWO gorgeous cats, they host a monthly book club and other fun events, there's a loyalty program, and they do a lot for the community. Indie bookstores are thin on the ground in this part of the state and I was thrilled to find Keaton & Lloyd just a short drive from Utica. Head to the Rome Arts Districr and pick up something good to read - you'll be glad you did!

I like reading books on sports (well written ones), historical biographies, political non-fiction and American literature. They have it all. What they don't have, they will find. The staff is always very helpful. And everything is reasonably priced. On your first trip, just go in and look around and you'll find books you didn't even know you wanted. When Wifey and I went to Cooperstown I was like a kid in a candy shop and wanted to take everything in since we only had a few days. As we wandered up the main strip we were mostly looking at places we'd want to come back to for some deeper dives and this bookstore was one of them. After going to the museum then next day we stopped back in and I left with a couple of vintage cards and two great books. The guy let me haggle on the cards and gave us a discount on the books. If I ever get back up to Cooperstown I hope this place is still around. Great selection, pretty well organized, good prices and the guys working both times we stopped in were great.
