Medical Providers have been exceptional and thorough; however, the Referral to Specialty Care process is totally unacceptable. I submitted a PxP portal request for specialty care on 5/19 after speaking with my physician. On 5/28/26 I spoke with the Referral Department re: status of my and my husband's referral (submitted 5/18) and was advised they were "still processing referral requests from April, 2026 and my physician should have told me there would be a month delay". I asked how this was acceptable, given that once the referral processes there would then be an additional wait for scheduling with the specialist and my symptoms were impacting my ability to function. I was informed by the same employee that this has been a problem since COVID. She did "pull our referrals" and offered to process them the same day. This effort was appreciated; however, it is not a sustainable process -- and many patients would not know to call and make such a request--not to mention Referral Staff can't process requests when they are needing to answer questions of this nature. Perhaps a weekend "stand down" to resolve the backlog or hire temp. clerks to get caught up is in order. Definitely considering changing providers due to this and other administrative delays that have been a problem for my family. read more

I had the absolute worst experience of my life the other day with the OBGYN department. First off, there was a student doctor with my doctor. I was not asked if it was okay that they were joining like I have been at every other visit where a student is present. The horrifying part was when without permission or even asking me, my Dr allowed the student to preform my exam which was painful and uncomfortable as the student definitely did not know what they were doing. Next Dr Bathske, was rude, judgemental, and unprofessional with the visit as well. Definitely not qualities you look for in a doctor. Only gave one star because the nurses are always lovely and great. read more

Every time i go in for care the doctors are no help and never seem to know anything. This morning I called and said that I thought I had a sinus infection do I need to come in or can they prescribe me something. I was told I had to come in. Was told, by doctor I have a sinus infection but they won't prescribe antibiotics until past 10 days. So while I'm in horrible sinus and face pain all they could tell me was what I already told them what was wrong with me. Another waste going here. read more

Experience with their customer service is extremely disappointing. It is literally impossible to get in with an urgent issue. One is always referred to urgent care at the hospital, which regardless of insurance provider is ALWAYS way more expensive. Additionally, if my doctor is out, which I would not know, and I send an email through the patient portal it simply languishes there until the physician returns. In fact, sometimes there is no response at all. It is awful compared to 10 years ago. Look for a new clinic to save yourself significant frustration. read more

I have been going to Prairie Clinic since the '60s. I came up to PdS from Indiana for treatment. Today I drive 100 miles round trip for care at the Prairie Clinic. It's a shame what some reviewers have stated. 60+ years of 5 star care. What else can I say! read more

Yikes! I wish I'd checked yelp and saw this place's 1.5 star rating before I tried this place out. I don't have much to add here -- I had the same experience of them not really being able to figure out what was going on and making weird and unhelpful judgments. On the bright side, they billed my insurance correctly and the administrative staff were friendly and helpful. read more

Took our son there for a reoccurring injured back, that has been a problem for the last four years. We have been to multiple chiropractors and doctors, and Dr Varley was a joke. He entered the room, thinking he knew everything from the beginning. He wouldn't listen to what we had to say about his injury, how it happens, and how it's been treated before. He went on to give his diagnosis, and explain everything about the injury that we have already known for the last bunch of years. He created his own scenarios as to how and why it happens and wouldn't even give us any feedback on how to prevent it, how to build up surrounding muscles around it, or even what to do next. All he wanted to do, was refer him to a physical therapist. His ego wouldn't comprehend what we were telling him, and he just kept spewing his own nonsense. It was an absolute joke of a visit, and I wouldn't recommend this doctor to anyone. Dr. Varley. Avoid him if you want any answers at all about anything. read more

I love Prairie Clinic. Their staff is amazing from the ladies who answer the phones to the nursing staff to the doctors. I completely trust the doctors and everything they suggest. They were the ones who finally diagnosed me with a very rare condition after suffering with it for over 15 years while going to a different doctors office. This was THE worst treatment I've ever received at a medical facility. Phone staff, rude. Doctor, even worse. The first ten seconds of the conversation the doctor was snippy and sarcastic. I found her to be extremely unprofessional and she may have received her medical license from a cereal box. We were treated as though she was inconvenienced by our presence. Apparently, your child can have loose stools every day for the rest of their life and it is NORMAL... Even though this is not typical for him and had been going on for several days, hence, the reason for our visit. I will be filing a formal complain't and urge anyone to seek care elsewhere. Wow! I am surprised to read the other reviews there as we have been going to Prairie Clinic for the past 3 years and have had good experiences. My three children and I have been going there and have met some wonderful doctors and PAs and they have helped us consistently. The scheduler Cassidy was diligent in trying to get appointments scheduled together so I didn't have to make multiple trips. Wait times were short, we used the express appointment feature when we needed an appointment that day. Doctors and nurses spent time with us at our appointments making sure everything was covered. I really can't say enough and hope you try them if they are near you. read more

I have mixed reviews about Prairie Clinic. My late husband was seeing a Dr. who no longer works there. For years he was having issues and each time it was the same thing, kidney stones. For 6 years we never caught a stone. After being moved on to a Urologist we were told that he has no kidney stones. By the way did you know you have a birth defect? You're spine is splitting. Then to a Renal Dr.. All your labs look fine not seeing anything abnormal. Then one day my husband is out of breath walking up the stairs to our apartment. Went to the ER had a chest x-ray and a CT scan. I'm sorry sir but you have a mass in your lung. Finally diagnosis, advanced stage lung cancer. Died less then six months later. The PA that I generally has reduced the hours she works and it takes a couple of months to get an appointment with her. At my last appt. with her I said I needed to fine someone else as I cant wait that long to be seen and asked for recommendations to which she didn't really have any. I wasn't feeling like staying with Prairie clinic. Then I found Dr. Darling. So far I don't have any complaints that are worth mentioning, so for now I am staying with her. Using their patient portal has gotten me away from having to deal with some of the snotty receptionists and it is easier to get labs and test results faster. It is also convenient to be able to the DR,. and email if you have questions. read more

I completely agree with the only other person who has rated Prairie Clinic to date. The staff is rude and impatient. I also think they are quite snobby and unfriendly. The atmosphere when you walk in the door exudes this. The doctors.....don't even listen to the patients. They don't have time to listen to the patients so they tell YOU why you came in that day and what you are feeling, then quickly send you home with a note to buy some over the counter vitamins to take daily. The Sauk Prairie Hospital they are associated with is just as worthless. You usually have to make 2 or 3 ER visits after you unsuccessful office visit, for them to figure out that you have something seriously wrong with you. They get scared and immediately transfer you to a Madison hospital where, thankfully, you can get the help you need. This is the healthcare available in the Sauk Prairie area. If you are thinking of relocating to this area from Madison KEEP your doctors in Madison and stay AWAY from our clinic and hospital. You would end up at a Madison hospital in the end anyways, I'm just trying to save you some time and suffering that I went through. read more

Go anywhere else. Doctors would only give a 6 months prescription of a med my husband had been taking for 10 years. And then when you need that refill they take 2-3 days to get back to your pharmacist. Oh - they love to double bill you if you mention you have a runny nose or something - they bill you for the wellness check up and $500 for a major problem that they don't even give you any advice on - keep the kleenexes handy - ha ha. I have a little experience in the medical profession and it's pretty illegal to double bill like that and I hope they get the hell fined out of them for doing it. You're close enough to Madison, just go there instead. Reedsburg is pretty good too. I have no experience with Baraboo. read more

I have nothing good to say about this clinic. the staff at this clinic is so rude, and I feel that the doctors can never figure anything out. Anytime I've come in, they treat you like nothing is wrong with you and you should feel stupid for even coming in. It's pathetic. I will no longer step foot in this place, all the doctors are dumber than a box of rocks and don't give a crap about their patients. My dad died back in 2009 because he came in with chest pain, told he was fine, only to have a massive heart attack and die a few weeks later. His heart arteries were completely blocked, that's NOT okay that they missed that. I know a few other people personally who were told they were fine and went to another place only to find out they were deadly Ill. I don't trust that clinic for anything anymore, bunch of nimrods and goat doctors. read more
