I love seeing what a community is discarding or donating for a second life, and I love the people in thrift stores who are all, like me, looking for a treasure, however they'll define that. And I especially love the community spirit of these small town shops where folks - mostly older ladies - are hanging out and exchanging news and giving old items new purpose and raising money to help each other out. The MCC thrift stores are I think my favourite. Mennonite Community shops in prairie towns. You have to get lucky here just like everywhere else, nothing in life is guaranteed, but anywhere you can thrift with an older community that values quality goods, and where demand is low you are going to find some beautiful things at very low prices. The Kildonan MCC is a Winnipeg example of the above, not as exceptional as the ones in smaller towns, but it's not in the city center either, and it's quite large and we did find some gems here and definitely found good vibes.

They have a lot of comfy sweaters though. Sadly not a lot of Halloween costumes. They do have a nice selection of brand named discounted pet food and some other pet products. The Cafe part of the store has a few delicious treats and my friend told me that his coffee was average and tasty enough. I loved my Cheese Onion bun! It was so cheesy and delicious! The area where the cats hangout is kind of pitiful though. It's basically a large bedroom with two bunk beds and cat toys. The kitty litter area has an upper level and a ramp. I honestly feel bad for the cats in there. I know they are comfortable and behave in a lazy manner but it might be because there is no room to run around in and exercise. But I do love that all the profits from this building store goes to support a pet charity that does their best to get the pets adopted to good homes.

Every time I've been people trying VCR players on in the aisles and I have done so myself. The one time I bought something without trying it on I was back the next day to exchange it, but it took over half an hour to find something of the same value to replace it when I didn't really want to shop. New store seems smaller and more crowded and disorganized, despite the better location.

They seem to have changed their business structure for the worst. Sure they provide a 20% off coupon but it doesn't matter if you bring in five huge bags or one small one you only get one coupon. Their prices have also skyrocketed in recent years and not all people can afford to shop there. Have often found dollar store items priced much higher than they would be in the dollar store, based on the sticker still on the item. Think about your community and do better value Village!

My cousin came to look for Scooby Doo and Sponge Bob, what they did were smart, just put all the knickknacks in smaller mixed bags, and had the kids pick out the one they like, maybe 1 item out of 5 will be the one they looking for, could be a hot wheel or a figurine, anyway I heard they used to sell these for about $2.50, now it went up to $5.99, poor kids didn't even need all the things in the bag, but have to spend money to buy the whole thing for just 1 item. I scored a Michael Kors purse for $25 & a whole bag of designer duds for another $16! Wow will definitely go again when back in Winnipeg! The staff was great and the gentleman very knowledgeable about all things vintage! Loved the cute old cat too! So many treasures so little time
