I understand how expensive and emotional it is to take a sick fur family member to an emergency…read morevet. We had to do this with our cat, Luna. I also understand triage in any emergency-vet emergency hospital or human ER. It's so hard to wait. That said, here were the things we were grateful for and knew they did a good job; reminded us it is triage. Listened intently and asked questions. Answered questions we had. Gave us an estimate and explanation of tests, scans, bloodwork, etc., and would let us know when we were nearing the top of that estimate so there were no surprises and always our choice on what to do next. Two different veterinarians worked on Luna's case. I would receive calls from them regarding their latest findings. I want to thank them. But I also especially want to thank the techs who also helped keep her as comfortable as hissy and miserable feeling cat could possibly be made. At the end of this mysterious battle of not knowing what on earth made her so sick, and ruling out every possible thing we could, we all did our best and worked together. And she made it through- which of course was our concern. Yep, we brought her there two times within the week. Yes, she had to wait one of those times to be seen by a veterinarian because other more emergent cases came in. It was hard knowing that because she's ours. But they kept monitoring her even during that time. The only small gripe I had was one older woman at the front who seemed impatient and kind of cold. But I ignored that as I figured she could have had a rough day. However, I hope she realizes the impact that can have on others, bad day or not- because our bad day is taking our pets in and being scared out of our minds we will lose them. Take a breath on a break and realize the positive impact she could make. Thanks for saving Luna. Thanks for the compassion-even though you see so many people's fur family members-you still understood each one is important to each family. It meant a lot. Keep doing that.

In agony of the truest form, i made the decision and the call to put him down. I took the later appointment of the day. I laid with him, fed him like a king, held him, stroked his paws, Told him over and over he was the very best companion in the world. Took him outside, walked around and played. Held him some more, sang to him. Brought him in. They say with me, they consoled me. They didn't rush me. When it was all over, they held me. She held me. She held me. I'll never forget her. Thank you Valley staff for making the hardest thing I've ever had to do so much easier.

I took her in, they tested, sure enough there was an infection. Before I brought her in, even with the infection, she had zero issues with her hearing. I was then told, "we're going to take her back and treat her." When they brought her back out her ears were full of a medication with a Vaseline type consistency. I was told it will work its way out over the next couple of weeks. No warnings about potential side effects or adverse reactions. Also, we were not given an option of this medication or traditional ear drops. Over the next few weeks, her hearing did not improve, it actually worsened. Almost two months go by and I take her back in to have them look in her ears. They were clean, no infection and no remaining medication. It has been a year since this happened, her hearing never returned. I called them and questioned them on it. Sure enough, they are no longer able to get this medication compounded, and the veterinarian who oversaw this case has since left the hospital. I was asked, "why didn't you bring her in if she was showing discomfort?" I responded with no one mentioned hearing loss as a possible side effect. Plus her ears were full of a thick medication. Of course she would be shaking her head and scratching at her ears. That was it, no accountability, no responsibility taken. I cannot stress enough to not take your pet to this vet.

When we went to Florida for a week and a half, I accidentally packed too little food. Jill called and said that she could have their food and it would be added to our bill which was no problem. Toaster has digestive issues when new types of food is introduced but it usually only last for a couple days so I was okay with her having different food. Jill then calls me and tells me she remembered her issue and offers to go out and buy a bag of her normal food. Wow! I was amazing at how willing she was to make sure that my pup felt comfortable and happy with her and the team. She definitely goes out of her way to make all of the pups and owners feel safe and special. Recently, we bought a daycare package with them and Toaster has been opening up so much, she's a shy gal. The ladies absolutely love her and she feels so safe and comfortable with them. They've been so accommodating of her timidness and even gave her one on one time for the first few days before putting her in with the group. We absolutely love HAFH and the team that works there! I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a safe and engaging environment for their doggies.
