I used to think that loss was something easy. Something simple; cut and dry. Something you felt and sort of just sat in for a while and then in some time you would be fine. Loss is such a weird thing. Early in life it is easy. It starts small. The loss of a favorite toy. A favorite pair of jeans or shoes. Maybe the loss of a favorite car. Even the loss of an early romantic flame seem so easy. Sometimes things that are lost can be found. Other times, the loss of things can be prevented all together. But still, mostly, loss is permanent. I think this is why when a loved one is lost to death it's the hardest thing to accept. On what has become one the hardest days of my life the image of my dad and his loving demeanor was not lost. I'd like to thank the staff at Prasser-Kleczka for all of your truly amazing work; through our Lord Father God Almighty you gave me the best gift I could've ever asked for after 2021 gave me the worst surprise of my life. The service was so beautiful and everything was just so perfect. It was such a peaceful and gentle way to celebrate and say goodbye to the wonderful man my father was. You gave me a truly great last memory of my dad. He looked so at peace that day. I truly cannot thank you all enough for giving myself and my family the most incredible-better-than-best-possible last day with this man who is so dearly loved and cherished and so terribly and sorely missed. This review is for the South Suburban location on 27th street, but the staff is the same, so it's really for the whole outfit, all locations. When you show up to a funeral home, you are sad, distracted, and just generally freaked out about someone you love, who is no more. You might need stuff explained a second time. Or a third time. You forget details. Most every funeral home provides a level of compassion, care and basic sympathy. The great ones stand out, and this is a great one. Valerie is the new breed of funeral directors. She knows her business, takes care of details, but she also relates on a level that is updated and modern, yet still personal, compassionate and caring. In the past, I thought of funeral directors and staff as dry and weird, detached, like somnambulists - slightly weird people. Not the staff at PK. Valerie and her staff are fantastic. They are almost like therapists, able to read a family, listen to their wishes, and make all the details happen smoothly and how the family wishes. They listen. They ask the right questions. They get the information they need to make the memorial and everything else involved in this process go smoothly and without drama or anxiety. My family's experience here was outstanding, if you can call an experience of a loved one dying, outstanding. Everything went smoothly during a very difficult time. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. And sadly, everyone will need Prasser-Kleczka, or a business like theirs. Go here, and you will be in good hands. read more

So I just had the funeral of my late mother here Monday. I visited here earlier in the summer for a friend who lost their father. This funeral home is absolutely amazing. It was a complete shock when my family lost our mother; everyone here literally bent over backwards to make sure we were knowledgeable, supported, informed and emotionally ok. Valerie helped me out immensely with the planning and this funeral was beautiful. Also kept in contact with the cemetery, just went above and beyond to make sure that everything went right for our mother. I will never forget all their help and would HIGHLY recommend everyone to work with them. Even my friends said that ordering flowers was so easy through them. Thank you for all your help. The family decided to use their Bay View chapel, for services for a loved one. They were so helpful and kind. We celebrated our loved ones life and the staff helped make that happen. We felt they cared about us. They had great ideas to honor my husband and that brought me some peace. They laid out all of our choices, we did not feel pushed to do one thing or another. When we got home we changed one of our choices, we just called and they honored our choice. They felt like family. read more

Our family has used the services of Prasser and Kletchka Funeral Services for generations. Each time Prasser Kletczka has provided services so special and individualized to our family members that have passed away. I have personally accompanied dear friends of the LGBT community and many other friends to Prasser Kletczka for guidance in planning their loved one's final preparations. Each time Prasser Kletczka went through great lengths to follow the deceased's final wishes. Unfortunately, many times there are laws that do not coincide with a loved one's final wishes. Unfortunately, I have also accompanied a dear friend who's adult child was found days after a heroin overdose, a friend whose teenage child had committed suicide, and other friends that needed great assistance as they were not legally connected with the deceased, Friends that scrambled to collect money for a service while Prasser Kletczka took their loved one into their care and proceeded with planning their loved ones final plans. Most recently, the jewel in my family's crown passed after a courageous battle with a debilitating disease,, my mother. Per my mother's wishes, no public service would take place, You might think you are prepared for such an event, I was not. Jeff Kletczka met me at my mother's bedside and very gently explained to me what was going to transpire over the next few hours and days. There was to be no viewing, my mother was being prepared for cremation. Jeff gently asked me if I wanted to say a final .good bye to her; if I had been asked this prior to her passing, my answer would have been no. My heart ached and I wanted nothing more than to see my mother at peace, appropriately dressed rather than in a hospital gown and disheveled, and so a time was set. When I arrived to Prasser Kletczka in Bayview, Jeff Kletczka gently guided me into one of their Memorial rooms... the lights were dimmed and my mother lay peacefully, her head gently placed on a pillow beneath her freshly washed hair with a beautiful quilt that matched her new top. In front of her was a place for me to kneel and pray. I prayed and kissed my mother goodbye and was filled with love and peace armed with the knowledge and comfort that my mother was finally at peace. It was a beautiful moment, so tranquil I will never forget it. My mother had chosen to be cremated and I was asked as were my sister's if we wanted to view her cremation. At the time, i had answered in unison with both of my sisters, a very definitive no. However after my final good bye..., I kept thinking about my mother's upcoming cremation. I trust Prasser Kletczka 110%; when Jeff told me that he felt I would find even more peace by viewing my mother's cremation... I calmly and without hesitation answered yes. I remember telling my sisters I was going for the cremation and asking if they wanted to view our mother's cremation...I believe they may have thought briefly I had gone around the bend. I arrived again, by myself to the Bayview location. Jeff was right there to walk me over to the crematorium. It was a beautiful sunny day~ Jeff had in detail, gently explained what I would be witnessing; I would be lying if I did not admit that I wanted to get back in my car and drive far away. However, one look at Jeff Kletczka and trust was reestablished, I felt completely at peace entering the crematorium. My mother's cremation was peaceful and beautiful... I left with Jeff Kletczka who after making sure I was ok, walked me to my car. Jeff had stayed there with me the entire time sitting by my side. I'm at the age where I absolutely need to make my own arrangements~ I of course will be contacting Prasser Kletczka to discuss my options. After my own mother's passing, I have only one other experience to share. When your loved one passes, as prepared as you think you might be, you are not...or at least I was not. I had feelings and pain I never knew existed. The entire staff treated my sisters and myself with compassion. More so, they treated our mother as if she were part of their family, with the utmost dignity and grace and we as a family will be forever grateful to Prasser Kleczka. Unfortunately my family has needed to plan 3 funerals in the last six months. All of them in Milwaukee, but we live in Minnesota. We were very grateful to have been assisted by Valerie. We were able to take care of almost everything via email. Her responses were quick. Everything went smoothly and she and the rest of the staff handled all of the little things that came up without missing a beat - tape for falling pictures, iPhone 7 without a speaker jack, accessible entrance for scooter, more people than expected, adding a song last minute. Warning do not put your trust in these people. Especially if you are in a LGBT relationship. They will act like they understand and are there for you and then they will cut ties and communication. They did not send me a death certificate as they originally promised. They will say you will be informed and be apart of the process from the beginning and then they will not keep their word. I do not recommend anyone to use their services. It will be heartbreaking in the end. I wish I can give them 0 stars. read more
