Our family has multiple accounts with Schwab (for over 30 years) and we do almost everything online. After experiencing problems uploading documents on the Schwab portal, I decided to go to the branch in person to open a new, time-sensitive account. Although there was no other customer in the place, the hostile, unhelpful receptionist told me that no one there could help me and that I should go online. Great customer service! Within seconds, I located the nearest Fidelity branch on my phone - less than 1/4 mile away. Fidelity was more than happy to open the account on the spot and take my money. Hey Charles Schwab - you just lost a 30+ year customer with numerous accounts - we will be moving all of our accounts to Fidelity.

Confirmed they could handle walk-ins. Next day I visit branch and the very inhospitable receptionist was snotty, hit me with microaggressions and plainly said I could NOT talk with anybody. Two reasons: contrary to previous customer rep on phone, she said I needed an appointment. Then, after spending much time on locating my account (I didn't have acct no) I was informed they only dealt in person with accounts of $1 million or more (I was a Ameritrade customer but became Schwab customer upon latter buying former). I guess it never occurred to the Schwab higher ups that many investors spread their wealth and try not to park huge amounts in one location. I next went to a Fidelity branch office where they had no problem serving walk-ins, was not snobby and not discriminatory. Also no minimum account requirements. I will be transferring my holdings to Fidelity.

They informed me that I would need to get my finances figured out, start making sense of my tax information and get my life in order. I was not ready. One of the first things on my to do list was to talk to an accountant. Before I went to Hara Yoshida, I couldn't even spell the word accountant much less understand what they do and how they would help me. I found this place through a friend of a friend of a friend's sister. (Didn't see that one coming now did you?) Fast forward: I made an appointment for a 30 minute consultation with Mr. Yoshida for $75 and instantly I'm terrified. I'm not going to understand a word this guy is saying. Should I bring a dictionary? His name sounds really serious and what if he thinks I'm insane. How do I even dress for this? Is a ball gown too much or not enough? I take some deep breaths and proceed. I made sure to jot down a lot of notes as my parents were talking and I write down exactly 438 questions about my personal taxes and tax questions in general hoping that Mr. Yoshida and I can get through at least 1 of them. Just a few include: *What is a 10/99 and a W-2? *As a contracted employee which do I need? *As a teacher How do I claim private services with families I work with? *How does gift tax work? *Whats the difference between a standard deduction and an itemized deduction. *Can I reduce my home owner taxes? How? Now that I'm even more confused than when I began, I step into the wework building where the accounting office resides and immediately feel calm. Mr. Yoshida, whose first name is Narumi welcomes me in with a warm smile and gentle handshake. There's a sophisticated and professional quality to his tone and mannerisms, but I also feel like I could tell this man my deepest fears without feeling the least bit judged. One day... I'm going to pause on the accounting stuff for a second and just say that this wework place is really cool. The space feels more like a cool hipster hangout than an actual office space. I mean yea, there are countless spaces with meeting rooms, small offices, medium offices, large offices, mini phone both offices and a lot of water cooler stations, but you gotta stop by and check out the rest of it. There's a snack bar, pinball and other random arcade games, tons of board games and card sets, shuffleboard, puzzles, comfy couches and beer on tap at ALL HOURS, EVERY DAY of the week! How does anyone get any work done here? Ok, back to the serious stuff. So, after my mini tour, Narumi (I'm on a first name basis at this point) eased my worries by answering all of my questions. This guy is efficient! Not only that, he explained everything until he was certain I understood. No dictionary necessary. I couldn't believe that in 30 minutes I was able to get a full understanding of all of my accounting needs. Thank you Hara Yoshida Accounting!! Now my parents think I'm a real live grown up!

My regular accountant have left the job to focus on her own business and I needed someone who can support me with complexed ( to me ) tax filing. I was introduced to Executive assistant, Ms. Nakamura and she was patient working with me going back and forth for months and connected me with her team. I ended up amending past 6 years of taxes for reporting my foreign income correctly, but I feel much confident and relieved. I recommend Hara Yoshida office to any one looking for an accountant.

Majority of my income was coming in under my business with no taxes being deducted so I knew I had to pay. I was pretty sure i was going to owe like 10k :( .. I chose OG bc of the great reviews (thanks yelp!) Before going in I was actually nervous and a bit ashamed bc as an adult I have know idea about taxes yet I decided to elect as an S-Corp lol. Then I finally came in & was seen by Eli. Here are some highlights of my experience: Eli is very knowledgable and is able to explain everything easily so that people like me who feel like taxes are a foreign language can understand. I came in assuming I was going to owe so much bc I had no idea what I was doing or how taxes even worked.. but Eli answered all of my questions with patience even though I know I was probably asking the same question over & over lol. Now for 2019 I will not be stressed! Eli also shed some light on things I had no idea about like how putting money in an IRA can really help to save on how much I owe in taxes, and how I need to go ahead & pay estimated taxes twice a year, and other business related matters that as business owner i needed to know & did NOT beforehand. Before your appointment they give you this great "tax planner".. it pretty much lists out everything that you can & should be writing off on your taxes & allows you to put in the totals. This was so helpful.. it really helps you organize everything. I called with a question & was quickly directed to Eli which was nice bc I thought I was going to have to email or wait for a call back, etc.. Jane at the front desk is also very helpful, polite & accommodating. Overall, I highly recommend. Especially if you have no idea what you're doing bc I know I cant be the only one. I left feeling so much better & at ease after it was all over.
