The attention to detail, the quality of the work- it is unbeatable. They put in a new French drain system and properly sealed the entire basement, creating additional living space for our teen girls.They replaced all the uneven floors and made the entire home not only much more functional- but breathtakingly gorgeous. The problem is then the left the house unfinished, never completing it. Six months later- their electrical work caused a house fire. Repeated attempts to rectify the issues failed until the owner of LaVillaLux just stopped talking to us altogether. Not the best way to do business. Really sad at the outcome.

After receiving another roofing estimate which was about $4500.00 cheaper I decided that due to the lack of service on repairing a minor window lock, there was no way they would respond if a roof were to develop a leak. As of this review I have not received any correspondence from Allgood with respect to repairing my window. I can not with a clear conscious recommend this company to anyone searching for home remodeling or repair as they do not honor their warranty.

Then, communication between reps/offices is completely lacking. Let's not even mention the empty promises and insincere apologies. Several times I was told the crew would be out the next day and they wouldn't show, and no call to let me know they couldn't make it. Suffice it to say once the job was completed, my boyfriend and I had several concerns about the appearance of the roof (looked like there were several places susceptible to leaks) that were repeatedly waved off with more promises that it would not leak, rather than them just fixing the problems. I'm still fighting with the company to get the job done right and after all the hassle I feel like 8 grand is way too expensive for a rubber band-aid that looks like crap.

I hired Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling for two large projects and unfortunately had a very…read morefrustrating experience from start to finish. For the first project, they removed and rebuilt a set of egress steps at the rear of a duplex. I provided professional drawings, site plans, and had already requested the permit through the City of Pittsburgh, so expectations were clear from the start. Communication throughout the project was extremely poor. I consistently had to chase down Brad, the project manager, just to get basic updates. He would often respond saying he needed to check with Tyler (the onsite worker), but then I would have to follow up again to actually get any answers. There was no proactive communication, and workers would often show up without notice, which made managing the project unnecessarily stressful. Quality of work on the first project was also disappointing. During the final inspection, several items did not pass. One of the required fixes was to apply silicone between the new deck and the house. The result was shockingly sloppy--silicone was smeared across the wood in multiple areas instead of being neatly applied where needed. It honestly looked like it was done with no care or attention to detail. The second project involved multiple items identified on a borough inspection report, including building a deck, installing handrails with baluster guards, replacing floor jacks with mono columns, and installing a condensate pump to eliminate a PVC drain line that was a tripping hazard. Unfortunately, the same issues continued--and in some cases were worse. The scope of work was clearly defined in the inspection report, yet key items were done incorrectly. For example, the existing basement pipe handrails were removed as requested, but instead of installing code-compliant handrails with baluster guards, they installed simple wood handrails without any baluster protection. Similarly, they were instructed to replace floor jacks with permanent mono columns. Instead, they initially installed new floor jacks again. After I raised the issue, they returned to install mono columns--but even then the work was not done correctly. The posts were installed with undersized screws at the top and were not bolted to the floor at all. When I questioned this, Brad responded that drilling bolts into the concrete might cause it to "blow apart" and said I would need to sign off on any risk if they proceeded. This was not an acceptable solution. I ultimately had to hire another contractor to properly secure the posts with appropriate fasteners and anchoring. A few weeks later, another serious issue surfaced: the condensate pump had been wired incorrectly into the furnace circuit board. I had a licensed HVAC company come out, and they confirmed and documented the improper installation. In addition to the workmanship issues, there are still unfinished items. When the deck was built, piles of dirt were left in the backyard with the promise they would return to clean it up. That has still not been completed. Between the lack of communication, repeated mistakes, incomplete work, and the need to hire additional professionals to correct their errors, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend Simple Fix Home Repair and Remodeling based on the quality of work and overall project management.

So, just finishing up two bathrooms: our master bathroom and a second-floor hall bathroom, that share a wall. The hall bathroom is approximately 8x10 and the master bath is 10x10, 100-year-old Mt. Lebanon home. The Hall bath is original mud set. So, started the process two years ago and my wife and I struggled to find a contractor. Our primary goal was "peace of mind." We wanted to find someone that had vision, did quality work, and would give us options that would fit within a reasonable budget. And, honesty, after a while, all the contractors start to sound the same...."tell us what you want." And the prices were sometimes hard to fathom and while our initial goal was $60K for both bathrooms, we actually had bids in the $90-100K range. Crazy. After almost losing hope, I was introduced to Jeff through a friend that I could consider "exceptionally meticulous," lol, or picky! And the fact that this friend had nothing but positive things to say about Jeff meant a lot. Look at the pictures, they speak for themselves. What you need to know is that Jeff is onsite and a hands-on contractor. He also has a really great team. He is SUPER meticulous and thinks through obstacles as they arise. When you are opening 100-year-old walls, you sometimes come across surprises and obstacles. I was so impressed by Jeff's vision and how he would thing through these challenges. Further, he has a very strong "design" sense, as the project moved forward, he would bring up ideas to improve the beginning vision and they were always great. As an example, our walk-in closet shared a wall with our master bathroom and now we have a new second floor laundry room/walk in closet. It has changed our life! Jeff's estimate did not change aside from add-ons that made sense as the project progressed. His labor costs were mid-point to our bids and while we went over budget, it was our choice because of the materials we chose to use. And why am I posting all this, you might ask? I've been in sales my entire career, and it's my fundamental belief that when you identify true, trusted professionals, you help them. The last thing I will say about Jeff is that you can trust him. He cares about his reputation and wants to see his customers thrilled. He is responsible and will diligently work on your project until it is done. He gave us our "peace of mind." I'll admit -- I'm somewhat picky about contractors -- but Robert's has set a new gold standard for…read morewhat a contractor can be in my mind. We recently purchased a 100 year old house with a slate roof that appeared to be on its last legs. Though at first we thought we had a few years left, we quickly discovered multiple leaks. When we started calling roofing, several said that repair was effectively impossible for a slate roof of this age (quoting an astronomical sum for a replacement), and additionally that because of the existing slate, even replacement with an asphalt shingle roof would be extraordinarily expensive. One company that only did slate roofs even looked at the job and refused to bid because the replacement was "too large for them." One of our big goals was to keep the house in touch with the aesthetic of the neighborhood -- which meant that slate or tile was really required. While they did bid a full replacement as well, Robert's suggested that a repair was also possible -- effectively writing a contract that would repair all damaged slate that they found including damaged underlayment (but not structure damage). They noted that they preferred to repair the roofs since it was overall less wasteful and can get significant extension on the roof life. They also had a decent quantity of "pittsburgh weathered" slate that was in good condition, based on other jobs they had done in the area where they had been able to salvage the slate. This reduced the difference in the appearance of the replaced slate when the job was done (though our job was large enough to need additional "new" slate as well). Their bidding process was by far the most professional we saw of any company -- they used a drone to evaluate the roof, and as we moved towards signing a detailed typed contract one of their foremen came out to evaluate the roof directly and ensure they would have enough material to complete the work (in our case, this did result in revising the contract price up slightly). Other companies literally wrote up a handwritten itemized scrawl for their 6 figure replacement cost, based on evaluation from the ground only. Along the same lines, both during the bidding process, as well as during and after the project, it was always easy to get someone knowledgeable on the phone -- regardless of if it was a question of cost or a technical question about the install or replacement. Additionally, Roberts was able to supply several addresses and photos of in progress repairs they had done. I do wish that they could have had a number of these ready to go (they should be proud of the work they do!), but it took a few days for them to supply them. That said, it was reasonably easy to see repairs they had done that looked quite natural. They also help to arrange for a subcontractor to replace dormer siding on top of our slate roof without a mark up. While the work was underway the crew was very professional. The site was impeccably clean every day after they left. They also patiently spent time with me answering questions about progress every day. During the work, they did, indeed, discover that several rafters had failed necessitating emergency structural repairs. They did the work to immediately effect the repairs and left the roof watertight all within one day. Obviously this is a highly stressful situation for a homeowner, but their crew and central office both demonstrated a zen-like level of calm and focus that was extremely comforting. To do this repair, they did need to tear some holes in the ceiling of our finished attic -- and did some additional damage inside the attic due to how the tarps were taped to the ceiling plaster, but they also connected us with a contractor they trusted who was able to repair all of the interior damage. As the work proceeded, it quickly became clear that there was significantly more damaged slate than they had originally anticipated -- all in, it was approximately half of the total roof area that needed to be replaced. However, they kept their commitment to take the burden of the cost of that overage, and we paid exactly what was quoted, plus a comparably modest sum for the unanticipated structural repairs. Since the work has finished, we've been able to rely on them for advice about other related projects on our roof, which they don't do directly (notably, questions about various tradeoffs on our gutter system that they weren't able to subcontract). Several months after the repairs, we noticed some of the underlayment in the garage appeared to have been split/damaged during the installation of the roof. With basically no questions asked, Robert's sent out a team and made the necessary repair. Though no project of this scope is without minor issues, Robert's clearly went above and beyond my expectations from a roofing company to deliver a solid repair and have demonstrated that they are committed to the happiness of their customers. I highly recommend them.
