    Brittain's Car Wash

First, I'd like to start out that I never go to car washes because I hear horror stories. The end…read moreof January of this year, to get the salt off my car, somebody suggested I go to a car wash. I happen to be driving past Britain's car wash on 31. I pulled in, paid my money, went into the booth, the car was washed and I left. The minute I pulled out. I had static and no radio. I had no idea what was going on. Over the next few weeks everything else started to not work, my GPS, my phone, little things weren't working. I went to the dealership and they asked me immediately if I went to a car wash. The answer was yes. They said this is car wash damage. I went to Gerber collision and glass to have it repaired. After I called it into State farm. I knew exactly where and when it happened. Gerber also confirmed that it was 100% undeniably related to a car wash. The only car wash I went to was Britain's in Dundee. When I reached out, the owner told me without a doubt and without any uncertainty, it was impossible for his car wash to do that to my car. So my $10 car wash or whatever it was, turned out to be over $2,000. I have a $250 deductible that I had to pay. I know that it happened in that car Wash. I'm disappointed that he immediately threw his hands in the air and said couldn't have been us. That's impossible. It's possible and it happened. I didn't run all over calling car washes and accusing them. I had one car wash, at the britons in Dundee, and it damaged my car and my roof. I'm sure their car wash is great when it works, but I hope this doesn't happen to anybody else. What bothers me more is the attitude of it couldn't have happened here. It's impossible. Shame on that car wash, stuck me with a $2,000 claim on my insurance and at $250 deductible. Shame shame shame but I believe in karma.

You can only come ones a day! They are NOT unlimited and false advertisement. Also, the rims do not get cleaned through their Carwash. But the Carwash on McClean for the same price leaves your rims super clean. I left this message on their Facebook page for others to be aware, and they disabled my commenting. Good job Brittain's car wash!

New owners are emphasizing monthly plans. OK, but…read more.. 1. Price has increased, so have expectations 2. Hours are worse, used to open at 7:30. Web now says 8am. 3. VIP lane (those with monthly RFID passes) is frequently closed, lines are long. No one knows why or when lanes will be re-opened. 4. High pressure rinse is broken, with "parts on order." Old owners never had this issue. 5. Yesterday's wash even had cold air on dryers. Notice that heaters were NOT operating. Plan holders expect more. If this is how things are run, then I'll just cancel and go elsewhere. Its disappointing how this business has raised prices, yet service has gone down hill.

This location was recently taken over by Rainstorm Car Wash. I used to come here, then stopped…read morebecause the self-serve area was weak and the vacuums never had much power. When I saw new ownership, I came back to see if the old problems were fixed. They are not. The top wash is $22. It advertises detailed cleaning of tires and wheel wells, which is hard to find, so I tried it. There are about five tiers of service and this was the highest one. The tires and wheel wells came out still dirty. No better than the basic wash at any other place, and I paid the premium tier specifically for that. Inside the tunnel, a section in the middle does nothing. No spray, no contact, for roughly a third of the run. I came out with a rear bumper and rear gate that were not clean either. Then the vacuums. One full row had zero suction. I moved to the row closer to the source and found two machines working. While I was cleaning the back of my car, the vacuum hose dropped off its overhead mount and landed on the ground. It was no longer connected. This location also has no blowers. Blowers are what let you push air into vents, rain guards, and tight crevices a vacuum can't reach. They give you something close to a detail without the detail price. Plenty of competitors have them now. It has become a baseline. This place doesn't offer them. Pricing is not my complaint. At $22, working equipment is the baseline. Comparable top-tier washes around Elgin, Huntley, Crystal Lake, Algonquin, and Carpentersville run closer to $14 to $19. Swift Car Wash is one I use often. The equipment works and the blowers are there. I left without a clean car and had to wash it elsewhere. Until the equipment is maintained and the basics are in place, spend your money somewhere else.
