Our technician Mike was professional and knowledgeable. It was determined that one of our springs had failed and it was determined both were in need of replacement. We were told of other components that were in need of replacement at a substantial additional cost. The Lifetime Warranty on the springs is only honored if you accept the additional suggested repairs. There is a flat charge if you decide not to use their services so you are in essence paying for the estimate. In all fairness,I believe the workers are well trained and competent but the companies businesses model and upselling of service makes me question the value. read more

We had Precision out in December 2022 and they replaced our garage door motor. This morning I discovered that our spring had broken so I called them back to come out. Only 4 stars because while on the phone I asked a price for spring replacements to which I was told they range from about $94-394 per spring and they usually replace both at the same time. I was shocked when the technician showed up, did his inspection (he was very professional and knowledgeable), and then informed me they only have one spring available which happens to the be one at the top of the price range and there were no other options. He gave me quotes ranging from $900 up to $1900 for other various improvements. I was disappointed because I know pricing for this fix can be much lower but was in a pinch to get it fixed today and also didn't want to build the $85 service fee into potentially having someone else come look at it. Again, the service is great and the people are friendly but shop around if you have the time because I feel like I was mislead into having options when really there were none. read more

Buyer Beware! Called them on Saturday and they said they could come over on Sunday - which was great. Pat showed up early - but after a one minute look he told us ... "Oh you have unserviceable easy slides - Contractors put these in to save money and they are unfixable. It is going to cost 1800.00 to fix one door and I can get it done in an hour. We were not born yesterday, and paid the 51.70 for coming to our house and sent him on his way. We call AA Garage who came out and fixed both doors for 289.00. Took AA Garage 15 minutes max. Home Warranty Claim Im going to start this out by saying I'm sure Precision Garage Door Twin Cities does wonderful work but be weary of them if they are answering to a home warranty claim. Mine in particular was HSA Home Warranty. Last week my garage door opener failed, along with it at the same time the spring snapped. The gear and sprocket on the opener had broke and the door came crashing down. When that happened the spring snapped. All of my equipment was from 2002. So it did its job for 22 years, pretty impressive! The Precision Garage Door Technician was sent out within a day to come and look at it. (Good on them) When he showed up, he checked everything out. He mentioned to me that the spring was too small for the door. Which is interesting, we will get to that later. He then started the process of calling the Home Warranty company to see if I was covered. He told them the opener had failed due to the wrong size spring installed on my door. The home warranty company denied my coverage. The technician then began to work on a quote for fixing the situation for me. He said that the garage door opener was too old to be fixed and that he would need install a new one($675) a bigger spring on my door($330) cables($122) new vertical door tracks($186) new bearings($37) and new bottom brackets($87) for a grand total of $1437. I was shocked. I need to get in my garage but this price was a lot more than I wanted to spend right before Christmas. I was very upset about the situation so I called the home warranty company a total of 5 times, I went back and forth with them about my coverage. In the contract it says they cover the garage door opener. They finally agreed to send out a second garage door company to inspect it. The second garage door company, inspected it, and let me know that in fact, the spring that was installed on my door was not too small. This is what I mentioned we would get back to you later. The spring was the correct size for my garage door. The second garage door company called HSA Home Warranty and explained to them the situation. He was able to fix the garage door at no cost to me covered under my home warranty. I believe that Precision Garage Door Twin Cities was just trying to make a sale. They did not care about doing what's right for the customer. And I believe they lied about being able to fix my garage door opener in order to sell a new unit to me. The second garage door company had the part for my garage door in their truck and they were able to fix my 22-year-old garage door opener. Everything is working great now. I did not need to spend $1437. Like I said in my first paragraph, I'm sure they do great work but be weary of these large corporate service companies just trying to make a sale and not fix things that could be fixed. read more

They replaced one of the two springs on my double garage door in 2021, so the other spring broke, so I called to replace it. The service tech shows up, spends 30 minutes in his truck putting together the "quote". So he says it will cost nearly $400 to replace the spring. I say it was $220-ish 4 years ago, to which he says that was "pre-COVID prices". Excuse me, 2021 was fully in the COVID pandemic. So then he said well we usually insist on replacing both springs because too many techs were breaking their hands replacing just one. (I guess you need to find better/smarter techs?) Then he said they were going to "grandfather me" and replace one spring. Gee, thanks, let me get this straight, I get to pay for two springs but only get one? Then I asked for a quote showing parts and labor. The look on his face instantly changed to complete horror and panic, as if he had just seen a ghost then his brain having reached critical overload he simply refused and said they "don't do that". What? What service company refuses to provide a detailed estimate? Answer: one that is attempting to rip people off, so I said buh-bye. In the end I called the original installer, Twin Cities Garage Door, and, yes, I'm paying almost the same price (slightly less), but I'm getting TWO springs, not one. read more

My husband and I have had several issues with the product we chose through Precision Garage Door. I've had to make more calls than I would like to address these issues, as has my husband. We certainly don't like to be "those people" and aren't looking to find issues out of nothing. The very last issue we had was another manufacturer issue to the door (small dents) and what we also thought was an installation issue due to a couple of the problems we saw with the chain/ door operation. We called on the Friday prior to Memorial Day and since our door is still under warranty, was able to get a no-cost appointment made with a technician for the Tuesday following Memorial Day. On Tuesday the technician was due to show between 8am and 10am. We both took the morning off work so we could be present to address the concerns with the technician. Unfortunately it started to creep up into the 10am hour and no technician had showed yet - a bit frustrating. So we called Precision Door and they ensured someone would be out to assist. Jason Schuster was the Install Manager who ended up showing to address our concerns. He was absolutely phenomenal. From the time he took to listen to our concerns and address each one with us, to the "above and beyond" steps to ensure our satisfaction and issues were addressed. He even performed an installation to sturdy our door and help ease our fears and concerns - something that fell out of the install teams hands but because he knew what to do, he took the time and did it. Jason was extremely thorough with his reasoning and brought factual education to the table to ensure we understood the product we purchased and how to know when it's a manufacturers issue verse installation issue, and so forth. He was great, I'd hands down recommend him as and Install Manager and is an extremely ethical individual who takes pride in his work. Jason made a positive impact to my husband and I, and also changed our perspective on the company Precision Door as a whole. I hope Precision Door knows that they a good one with Jason and find ways to incentivize his superior performance, workmanship, and customer service. read more

Needed spring replacement. Tech rec'd replacing other parts that in my judgement did not need immediate attention. The basic spring replacement 'package' alone was quoted as $1,600. $2,000+ was quote for all rec'd work. I said thanks but no thanks. Then I asked to have the door opened and closed (once) so I could move a car out. I was told that would be $300. Classic bait-switch and assuming customer was perhaps a desperate pushover. Nothing personal - the tech was following the company script. I found a reputable handyman same day. Door functioning well after spring replacement. Price including generous tip $200. read more

Patrick, the service tech, thoroughly explained how the spring and rollers affected my old unit and how they could be adjusted to make a new one last longer. The quoted price point was a little higher than I had hoped, so I ended up using another provider, but Precision's service was top notch. The service manager even called to discuss the pricing and took the time to explain the (very valid) reasons they might not be the cheapest - they offer the best in quality and service. I would strongly advise anyone from using Precision to stay far away. My wife recently contacted them for a repair job and we could sense they were possibly trying to take advantage of us. The company tried to charge us almost double the reasonable price for the repair. Quoted us a minimum of $600 to have two torsion springs replaced and installed. Not to mention the $85 service charge which is waived if you end up doing business with them. But they charge you if you don't. They were here for 5 mins, gave a ridiculous quote, made $85. It's clear that this company prioritizes squeezing every last dollar out of their customers over providing honest, fair service. They are preying on those who are less informed about garage doors and should be ashamed of their unethical business practices. We ended up calling a reputable company who actually gave a rough estimate over the phone to fix the issue, and they charged us a fraction of what this company was trying to extort from us. If you value your time, money, and sanity, I implore you to steer clear of this unscrupulous garage door repair company. They do not deserve your business. read more

Had a phenomenal experience with Precision. After hitting my garage door backing out of the garage, I called one company and a guy came out, took me for a ride and had me thinking I needed to get a new garage door. The guy also disabled the door so it wouldn't work . Luckily I called Precision the next day and Art came out, looked at my door and reassured me that I likely didn't need a new garage door. At most I would just need a new panel. Not only that, but Art put in the extra effort to get my door working even though he's not a technician. After that, he arranged for Bret, who is a technician to come first thing the next day and adjust the sensors to ensure the door would stay functional until we get a new panel. To top it off, these guys didn't charge me at all. It's hard to put into words how great it feels to be provided valuable service and feel like you can trust someone when it comes to something that happens to your home. Good service, but VERY EXPENSIVE! I scheduled the service online to replace a broken spring on my 8yo dual garage door. Got an appointment right away for Mon (8a-10a). They confirmed the appointment via txt msg. On the day of the arrival, they sent a name & photo of the tech that was on his way to fix the garage door. Really nice and professional guy, Alex. He inspected the garage door, and gave me an estimate of $1245 to basically replace all removable parts (bearings, cables, springs, etc.) I decided not to move forward with it, and I was ready to pay mandatory $85 for his visit, but he revised the estimate to just replace the two springs along with center and end bearings for $869, which I thought was still high based on market research. I needed to get the door fixed due to upcoming travel, so I agreed to it. It took Alex 30 mins to complete the work. They accept checks and credit cards, but there is an additional 3% charge for credit cards! To give you an idea of total costs: I paid 2 x $345 for two springs: PDS 250x39 - 1-3/4" ID LHW SP Green Powder Coated High Cycle Torsion Spring; $37 for Center Bearing; and 2 x $71 for two End Bearing Plate 12 ga. Also, to replace 12 roller wheels on my single garage door (to reduce noise) the estimate was $245, but I didn't go for it. I would highly recommend getting a couple of quotes over the phone before having them come over, so you are not on the hook for $85 mandatory charge. read more
