I have two garage doors. One large door. I had both repaired with rollers and springs. The work was very good. Service person did fine work. My review was about the cost, not the work . I had a one man local repair shop show me how much the springs should have cost. I paid several hundred dollars too much for springs. The door works well, but the excessive cost of rollers and springs doesn't sit well with me. I won't use any out of state repair service again. scammer scum! super overpriced for garage door replacement and then wanted 6k to do it. i was 1st appt and couldn't get a time firmly- kept changing and even that day, could give me a firm arrival. I fired them and was told I could get a full refund. filed a dispute with my credit card. 4 days later they are still holding my money. door tech was busy fighting out issues with his baby momma and couldn't start 1st call until 12 noon. then 4 hours to install. my time is valuable too. read more

I was scammed so bad. Charged me $1200 for two cables, to replace the rollers and to remount the spring bar because it was mounted poorly. Less than an hour of work for $1200 dollars and I didn't see it coming. Don't fall for its a safety issue because they are scammers. Get a second opinion no matter what these people say, park outside if you have to if you are that concerned about the safety issue they are trying to sell you but do not use these people. They are scam artists and opportunists and I hope this reaches one person online and saves them the money they just took from me. I will surely tell everyone I know not to use them. read more

Be aware the garage door guy sold his company to them . If you call thinking you are scheduling with garage door guy, they do not let you know that it's a different company now. They charge you 59 dollars to come out without giving you heads up. They tried to charge us 1,124 plus tax to replace 2 springs . When we said no he called his boss and dropped it to 400 but no warranty. We decided to go with someone else with better integrity. We were almost ripped off. I would not recommended them to anybody who wants to have good quality fair service without being robbed like that. read more

The service was ok - the cost was not. The key pad anywhere is $20 (Walmart, Amazon..) - they charged me $140 for the keypad + $160 to install it. This is really my fault for not shopping around more. Just be forewarned - it is expensive for what you get. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with A1 Garage Door Service and feel completely scammed. Last month, we had a technician come out to assess an issue with our one-door garage. We spent considerable time explaining the problem, and after his assessment, he told us we needed to replace two parts and add a safety item--charging us nearly $1,000. Shockingly, he even added a "mandatory" tip to the charge, which I've never encountered before with a professional service. After completing the service, he aggressively pushed their membership and tried to upsell repairs on our two-door garage, quoting around $2,800 for parts that weren't broken. I declined, saying that it was too expensive and the garage doors were working fine. He then went back to the garage door that he had just fixed and said the motor on our one-door garage would likely break within two months and suggested replacing it too. I refused--if it wasn't broken and wasn't part of the original issue, I didn't see the need, especially after paying nearly $1,000 for the servic. Sure enough, two weeks later, we had the same issue again with the garage door that they supposedly fixed. A different technician came out but couldn't explain the problem and offered an outrageous quote to replace all mechanical parts, instead of addressing the fact that their original repair didn't work. Frustrated, we contacted another garage door company for a second opinion. They were honest and professional--they told us A1 had lied, replaced parts we didn't need, and charged nearly three times what a reputable company would. The new company fixed our garage door quickly and for a very fair price. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to warn others. A1 Garage Door Service misled us, overcharged us, failed to fix the original problem, and tried to upsell unnecessary repairs. TERRIBLE company. The technician had to reschedule the first time because he was running behind, I had stayed home for 3 hours (which was my window), and in the end he had to reschedule. So I rescheduled for the next week where he told me on the phone he would be there right at 12 (I had a 12-3 window), and same story. So around 2 PM I called and they said he at my house. He was not. I called 35 minutes later and they said he was running behind and would have to reschedule!!!!!!!! I had my garage door replaced by The Garage Door Guy a few years back and found myself now with an opener that would randomly open/close all by itself. Despite quick troubleshooting, I was stumped. My plan was to call The Garage Door Guy to have them come back out since they were great the first time and I was quite apprehensive when I saw they had been acquired by A1. With their TV commercials and nifty website, they felt slick and "too good to be true." However, my concerns were quickly put at ease. The scheduling team was able to get a technician, Alex, to come out that afternoon. Alex was super friendly, knowledgeable and explained that, unsurprisingly, my opener would need to be replaced. Despite the subzero temps, Alex replaced the motor in a little over an hour, connected all of my old remotes and explained some good maintenance best practices. The only reason I'm not giving 5/5 is the "Worry Free Club" Warranty was automatically applied to my bill. In a world here everyone is applying monthly subscriptions, this felt unnecessary and I would have appreciated understanding more about if I could opt out of it. Seemed a little like a bait and switch, but some discounts cancelled out the cost of the warranty. Again, not a big deal, but seemed a little shady. read more

My primary complaint has to do with the customer service representatives I spoke with. They were rude, unhelpful and very disrespectful when I called to request information on the arrival time and if I was covered under warranty. I would definitely NOT recommend going with this company specifically based on the customer service they provide on the front end. read more

I called for a garage door tune-up, knowing I probably needed a little more than that. Dillon was the service tech that came out. He was very through, explaining everything about the door and everything it takes to have it in top operating shape. After listening to him, I asked about replacing the opener and tension springs that were end of life. He gave me every discount possible. He called the main office to see if there were more ways to give me discounts for the best price possible. They were also able to give me even a better deal. Dillon performed an A-1 install ! Everything looked so good and purred when in operation. Again, he went over the price, what services he performed, and made sure I was happy. Trevor did a great job on replacing my rollers and 1 broke hinge. New rollers come with a lifetime warranty. Door s are nice and quite. Rollers are a bit expensive but I guess you pay for what you get. Happy with the service and the good communication from Trevor! read more
