I have been a Patient for 4 years. I was satisfied with this practice until recently. I fell the last week in October and Fractured my knee. My doctor recommended Cortisone Shots in my knees. I was against taking the shots due to known side effects in addition to my age The practice also has my previous medical history. My doctor advised due to the injury she needed to calm the Inflammation; I took the shots in both knees. I was also advised that there would be an elevation in my Blood Sugar however, i was not advised of other possible side effects and complications from the shots. I was diagnosed with blood clots 6 days ago and have been trying to speak with my doctor for 4 days. The receptionist advised me on Wednesday that the doctor received my Fax and the Test rests and I might receive a call from the doctor. Thank God I didn't hold my breath. I called yesterday Thursday to inquire about the request that I submitted online for an appointment that has not been responded to; the receptionist advised that she doesn"t know how online appointments are handled although the voice recording recommends using online scheduling. The receptionist placed me on hold to reach out to the doctor who advised her to tell me that, I need to reach out to my Primary Care doctor for assistance; she does not treat blood clots. It took me 4 days to get an answer and she won't speak directly with me; this is unacceptable. One other thing, this is the only Practice that I have been affiliated with where you cannot access your medical records, test results, treatment plan, nor referrals online; nor can you upload documents. I am not saying for sure however, it's been alleged on Drugs.com that shots can cause clots. I was advised by the receptionist that she could not provide an email address to forward the test results from the hospital; I could either Fax or send them via U.S. Postal Mail. I was forced to come here based on referrals from the military. The front desk people come across as always irritated with your presence as if the customer is disturbing them. The doctor is not very thorough and shows no interest in getting down the the patient's problem. It makes me wonder how do you go into a profession that is designed to take care of people but you show minimal interest. It's been five months and I still haven't been treated to improve my pain and knee problems. read more

I have been seeing two different doctors at this orthopedic office for a little over a year. The location is very convenient, the front desk is efficient, and the doctor's are great. A few times the nurse/doctor's assistant has been a little rushed, but it hasn't affected my care in my opinion. Honestly can't imagine why there are so many bad reviews...as always, treat the office staff the way you want to be treated and understand they are human. read more

I came to this office over the weekend because my primary doctor office was closed. When I arrived I was greeted by 2 ladies at the front desk. They gave me a digital device to fill in all my information. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the nurse came out and called me to the back. After she took all my vitals, I was then walked to the doctor's office. Dr. Emmanuel K Fai was amazing. After explaining all of my symptoms, he knew exactly what was wrong with me. He prescribed me with 2 different medications. He sent the medications to the cvs that is about 2 doors down from the office, which was very convenient. He stated of the medication does not work within 2 days to come back and see him. But he stated that he was 100% sure that it would work. The medication worked. I can tell a difference within the first hour of taking it. By the way I was diagnosed with acid reflux. I was in a lot of pain, I couldn't eat or drink anything. After taking the medication, I was able to eat with no pain. After taking the medication for about a week, I was fully cured. read more

I took the chance despite bad reviews. The staff was friendly and knowledgable. My experience was pleasant, quick, and completed in less than one hour( doc-x-ray-doc-cvs prescription). Tge doctor who is also a primary care doc is so approachable. read more

"Urgent" should be removed from the sign, even tho the website and outside doors hours are until 8:00pm, is 6:16 now and they are closed already and the 3 lady's inside just made a sign with their hands saying it was closed. As a harbor resident I LOVE how convenient this place is for me. However the word URGENT should be removed from their business . They have no clients ever in that office and you still wait forever to be seen!!! Their hours are open Mondays 8a-8p...I just called at 8:30a to make an appointment, no answer!!!!! Yhey told him he could not have a physical and have a prescription done. The prescription is an office visit Paperwork for annual was incomplete. There was a huge rash on my arm. I ask about his arm and she like I can't diagnose his arm since it not an office visit. They tell me to come back tomorrow. I said no.. this is also an urgent care facility which means he can be seen immediately. They say no. I say I will pay out of pocket. Then they give me a just created document stating I am self pay and will not bill my insurance. They tell me he will not be seen unless the document is signed. It was not signed by the facility. WHAT A JOKE!!!Took my 83 year old Mother there who couldn't breath. Receptionist told me they only do orthopedic on Tuesday. With no compassion what so ever she whispered in some creepy little girl voice that there was a patient first urgent care 15 minutes away. In my opinion, this looked like every classic slip and fall clinic you've ever seen on TV. They turned away an elderly woman who couldn't breathe. Never even asked her name. If I could give zero stars, I would. First, the girl at the front desk informed me that she could not verify my insurance. I was told if I wanted to call and verify my own insurance I could. I was told if I didn't want to do that, I could pay $300 which was the self pay. I told her my insurance co pay was $75. She informed me since my insurance was a high deductible I would have to pay $150. Now, I have had the issue I went to the urgent care in the past, so I am relatively familiar with my symptoms. The PA asked me a multitude of questions then asked if I had seen a specialist for this. I was experiencing eye pain, light sensitivity, and a grittiness in my right eye. In the past, I was prescribed a steroid eye drop. She went to look up the medication, as they don't normally prescribe steroid eye drops. I understand this, and when she came back she said she could offer me an antibiotic. I declined as one, she did not look at my eye thouroughly enough to determine the need for an antibiotic, and two, I knew the medication I needed was a steriod eye drop. At this point, I asked how to get my co pay of $150 back since my issue was not taken care of. The girl up front refused. I started I would be calling my credit union to dispute the charge. I am not satisfied with the level of care or the respect I was shown. The front staff have no professionalism, and when you are demanding a payment of $150 for something that did not get resolved, I expect professionalism, and my issue to be taken care of. The way the staff acted, I felt as though I was asking for narcotic drugs and not a simple eye drop. They could have contacted the eye doctor I have seen in the past, but that was not even a resolution offered. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time with these clowns. read more

Although the medical staff is good, this is a very poorly run business. I just went in to get seen and they told me they were only doing orthopedics in the morning, come back in 5 hours. The lobby was empty, and they had 3 reception workers. The other 2 were just on their phones. Not sure how they are staying in business. If you call yourself Urgent Care, you should have a general practitioner at all times. read more

Our first visit to the Medical Center was smooth. Empty lobby and yes, we had to wait but it was clean and the Dr. was very nice and efficient once we saw her. Our follow up visit a week later was not so pleasant. They took my daughter back to do a follow up x-ray and they DID NOT put a protective apron on her during the x-ray. I was very unhappy when my daughter informed me and when I told the Dr., he quickly said 'he would talk to the nurse about it' and quickly changed the subject. Not OK! I mentioned it again upon leaving and he gave a very simple 'sorry'. We will not be returning and I would suggest you find another facility. read more

I will never go to this place again. I was injured on my bike about 2 months ago. Leg, fingers, knees, elbows all dripping blood. The doctor (Indian lady) "took a look" and told the nurse to clean my leg up. She bandages my leg. I ask her well what about all my other injuries??? She would not have done anything else if I didn't say anything.That's it! No discharge paperwork or literature on what I should do etc. she was even hesitant to give me bandaids and antibiotic cream. Only when I said I paid $150 for this BS, did she discreetly give me "extras". Only reason I gave them 1 star is b/c I really didn't have to wait. This medical center and urgent care unit is excellent. The attention you get is immediate. The attendants at the front desk are nice, the nurses are very professional, and the doctors are altogether excellent. They have internal medicine doctors and specialists, particularly in the orthopedics area. We are so lucky to get these services in our neighborhood. If you needed urgent care and you went to a regular hospital, you would be waiting for hours before anybody even saw you. Here it is on matter of minutes. Highly recommended. read more

Let me say these things up front: The facility was nice, clean and modern. (Most of) the staff was reasonably friendly. The doctor was thorough, personable, and professional. Once I turned in the intake form, I was seen in about 20 minutes (there was only 1 other patient there). So, as far as my ACTUAL CARE is concerned, I'm relatively pleased. The following marred what otherwise might have been a stellar experience. Weigh them for yourself--they may or may not mean a thing to you: First, I had a hard time finding the place. National Harbor doesn't seem to have a central map that tells you where the various streets are. You kind of have to cruise around until you get lucky. It's across the street from the CVS, if you need to ask for directions. 2 hours on the street meters will cost you $6, and they're enforced "24 hours a day, 7 days a week," which I think is quite a ripoff. When I went into the waiting room, Fox "News" was on the television. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm a liberal Democrat, and I absolutely HATE Fox "News"! Additionally, I thought it was pretty rude to have something as political and partisan (and CONSERVATIVE) as Fox "News" on in the public waiting area of your business, unless you're in Texas or Oklahoma or someplace equally RED! I got so pissed, I asked the woman at the front desk who could change the channel. Brilliant young thing that she is, she told me that SHE couldn't change the channel. Then I not-so-politely told her that I wasn't asking if SHE could change the channel, I was asking WHO could change the channel. At which point, the brilliant young thing tells me that she won't change the channel (I note that she'd already said she COULDN'T change it). Then, I not-so-politely asked if she could turn the political BS down. She told me there was a volume control on the tv, and I proceeded to use it, POST HASTE. Now, all of that was NEEDLESSLY AGGRAVATING... Next, they gave me one of those tablets to use to answer their admission questions. About that, two warnings: First, when I hadn't entered anything for a couple of minutes, the d*mn thing turned off--without any warning--and it forced me to start all over again. There were a LOT of questions, and I was less than pleased. Second, and more importantly, one of the policies that you, the patient, are asked to sign-off on, to be a patient at this fine facility, is that you agree to URINALYSIS! I tell you no lie! The form tells you that there are three reasons for this absolutely, astonishingly INSANE intrusion into your personal business (then it goes on to list FOUR reasons!), none of which makes one bit of sense. Now, I don't know how you feel about such things, but I don't go to a doctor--much less an acute care center--to get tested for drugs, unless that is my choice, and in this case it wasn't. I took the tablet to that brilliant young woman at the desk, asked her "What is this?", and then I told her, "I'm not doing that!" She called her "boss," who told her that I needed to consent to it to get through the form, but it didn't actually have to be done. So I signed "NO CONSENT" and finished filling the form out. I was ready to leave if they required me to consent to that. So, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CONSENT TO URINALYSIS to be seen as a patient, regardless of what the form indicates. I thought that was about the most bizarre thing EVER, and there was absolutely NO valid medical reason for it. I personally think it's a scheme to charge your insurance company for an absolutely unnecessary test. I HIGHLY ADVISE YOU TO NOT CONSENT TO URINALYSIS. The results of their test will be in your medical records forever, and who knows how secure those are? I say this as a person who has nothing to hide, but who does not want every Tom, Dick, and Harry in my personal business. So, to sum up, the treatment was good, the facility itself was clean and modern, and the doctor was courteous, professional and competent, but the cumbersome intake form, the Fox "News" on the waiting room television (which I pray is not the norm), and the attempt to sucker me into peeing into a cup so they can charge my insurance company for an unnecessary test left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. Very frustrated with this place.twice I've paid for parking and showed up to this place for urgent care a hour before closing to find that the doors are locked and that the doctor is getting ready to leave. The staff at Harbor Medical Center and Urgent Care are exceptional. I was on business travel and had a very band hand injury. The physical pain was enormous, the emotional challenge of a traumatic injury overwhelming. In the midst of this tiny little town, I found the most excellent care experience. From the moment I walked through the door to reception I felt welcomed, cared about and valued. The appt process simple and convenient, the care amazing. On both visits to take care of a very bad wound, Teresa and Brittany could not have been more skilled, patient, empathetic, compassionate and kind. Their care went above the wound and truly touched my heart in the way they were concerned and looked after my physical wound and fear from the accident. To literally amputate a portion of your finger is traumatic. To be away from home, alone trying to care for yourself, overwhelming. These two very skilled professionals got me through the worst of it and let helped me achieve good medical results and guided me to deal with the shock from the injury. highly recommend this skilled and amazing group of professionals. The silver lining in a very difficult time, is I found true knowledge, skill and caring. If I lived in National Harbor area, this would be my choice of primary care groups. The only thing stopping me from that now, would be a 1200 mile commute to see them. read more

I was a bit hesitant about going to this particular urgent care facility - based upon other Yelp reviews. But I was attending a conference at the Gaylord resort and this facility was close (2 blocks) and convenient. After going back and forth, I made the decision I needed to see someone before boarding my flight the next day. I walked to the facility, checked in at the front desk and was greeted warmly by the MA. She got me started on some paperwork (using a tablet versus paper, so very cool). she also informed me that the front desk staff (two individuals) had stepped out for coffee but would be right back. Red flags immediately went up based upon previous Yelp reviews and I was sure I would spend most of the day in the clinic. But the two staff members return shortly to assist, they were all helpful, the 'paperwork' was quick and I was back getting my vocals taken within a couple of minutes of completing my 'paperwork'. I waited another five minutes and was seeing the PA who spent 10 to 15 minutes with me to discuss the issue and wrote me a prescription and had it electronically sent to the CVS pharmacy next door. All-in-all I thought the experience was very good and have nothing but good to say about the facility. While I hope NOT to return, I would go back without hesitation if I was back in the area and had need. read more

If I can give it no stars, I definitely would. I scheduled an appointment but needed to go earlier than that so Ashley, the receptionist, told me I could come in at 2:30 for a walk-in. After a hour, the nurse took me back and told me that the ONE DOCTOR was booked for the day and I basically would have to wait until the appointment I cancelled for 5:30. The receptionist was apparently aware of the overbooked schedule and did not inform me of such. I lost time from work to come here. What a waste of time!! Back in March I was pretty sick. I would agree about the not being "urgent" part and their overall sense of "urgency" You can just sense the lack of urgency on the phone about making an appointment or "caring" for the sick was just not felt. "Urgent" means to me I'm not making an appointment? DUH - I need to be seen right away. I made an appointment with them, went across the bridge and was seen by the CVS Minute Clinic and back home - yes, I got back and cancelled my appointment. I'm a resident and will never go here as their customer service/telephone side manner is not impressive. If this is the best they can do over the phone, I'll go elsewhere. read more
