It has actually been a couple of years since I went to this place, but I was having a conversation with a group of women today about PT that compelled me to circle back and provide a review. We were talking about what it's like to go to one of those in-network PT farms where a 22 year old is loosely overseeing your exercises while also attending to several other patients in a large open area that all feels slightly chaotic and, to be honest, just a little bit sus lol. Core Wellness is not that place. If you can afford it, just go here. They have highly experienced staff who give you dedicated, one on one attention for the full hour and they take a holistic approach to solving your issue -- really listening; asking good follow up questions each session and pivoting as needed; explaining what's going on at all times and how different issues might be connected; working on your muscles with different techniques instead of just giving you basic exercises to do by yourself that you could have found online; etc. I saw Kelly and she is one of those healthcare professionals you wish all providers were like. My husband saw her as well last year and felt the same. Anyway, 5 stars, no notes. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Margaux Craig at Corewellness since having had debilitating back pain a number of years ago. I was advised by both our family physician and a top neurosurgeon to seek out a good PT practice to deal with it. It turned out to be great advice. Dr. Craig provided treatment and exercises that helped to relieve the pain and to treat the occasional flare-ups. I can now move and sleep well and have monthly appointments to keep the back and other issues healthy. She has also used her keen diagnostic skills to resolve other muscular-skeletal issues caused by an active lifestyle. My latest was a hip that had the symptoms of being arthritic (I know those symptoms first-hand). Dr. Craig diagnosed the cause as a misalignment and treated it with message and cups and provided exercises to keep it in check. Whereas my regular walks had become a chore, I am back to enjoying them. There are a number of other examples such as treating my rotator cuff and forearm pain, both results of lifting too much at awkward angles. Since I started with Corewellness, my spouse and our two daughters had treatments there with very positive results. I cannot recommend Corewellness highly enough. read more

Dr. E is the best medical practitioner I have ever known. And every person she brings in to work at her practice offers an incredibly high level of care. I first went to see Dr. E about 15 years ago, when she was a solo practitioner. I went in with lower back and knee problems, and she and I have been working together, off and on, ever since. I've recommended many friends and family members to her practice and they have all been grateful for the thorough exam and very experienced and effective treatment they received. In particular, she helped my husband regain use of his hand after it was crushed in an accident. Dr. E is also offers nutrition counseling, and she has completely transformed my life in this area as well. Whenever a family member has an injury, Dr. E is our first call. I wish her practice could be my primary care physician. read more

If you are looking for a more personalized physical therapy care I highly recommend this place. I have been to multiple physical therapy places where a P.T. spends 10-15 minutes with you and then you do your physical therapy exercises with someone else for the rest of the time there. What I really appreciate about Core Wellness is that they spend the hour with you and really listen to your complaint, and work on addressing that complaint. They don't take the majority of your time to do physical therapy exercises at the place; physical therapy exercises are your responsibly to be done at home. Dana has really help to significantly reduce my back, knee, and hip pain. read more

Core Wellness was a game changer for me. I went to them in September 2017, suffering horribly from a frozen shoulder. I had gone to another PT in DC for one session and hated it. When I came to Core Wellness, I immediately felt at home, cared for, and listened to. Over the course of 4 months, my main therapist Dana met with me weekly as well as gave me homework! At this point, I am completely pain free and have almost all of my range of motion back on all planes. She is always kind, knowledgable, and encouraging! A few years ago, I was having terrible pain in my feet and had been to a couple of doctors who couldn't help. Finally, my family practice doc recommended Core Wellness so I had several sessions with Angie. I started feeling some relief after the first couple of appointments and soon was able to hike again pain free. Now I've had a knee injury and she is helping me heal and get my flexibility back. I don't know how to sum up just how much Core Wellness, and specifically Angie, did for me. I injured my tailbone and had my rib dislocated by a massage therapist all in one year, and I had a great deal of pain and muscle weakness afterwards. It felt like a joke--if I did anything physical (walk more than a block, go up or down stairs, etc), I wouldn't be able to walk for two weeks. Once, I had TMJ so bad that I could barely open my mouth to speak (that one also lasted two weeks). Finally, I got a prescription for PT and went to see Angie. I really appreciated that Angie listened to everything I told her. She was extremely patient, and only gave me exercises that I could handle. She worked with my physical limitations and didn't get frustrated by them. Most importantly, she is an incredibly kind, fun person who I enjoyed spending 2hrs/week with. She's also very, very good at her job. With her help, I got much better, and was even able to start running again six(?) months later. Running!! If there weren't so many other reviews that said the same thing, I'd feel weird saying that she saved my life, but she did. When I told Angie that I was moving away from NoVA, she did extensive research to help me find somebody new in the area where I'd be living. She also answered my questions via email after I'd moved. When people ask me what I miss most about DC, I say, "My PT!" (So much that I fit in an appointment when I was in DC for a weekend). Truly can't recommend this place enough. read more

This review is long overdue. Core Wellness is responsible for giving me my mobility back. I have a host of spinal issues and hypermobility in my pelvis that has also brought on foot pain. This practice has been phenomenal at addressing each and every one of my physical limitations and giving me my life back. Before coming to Core Wellness to see Angie, I was in debilitating pain on a daily basis. I had seen numerous doctors and PTs with no relief. After the first visit with Angie, I knew that I had found the right place. I've seen her over the last 3 years and we've worked daily to improve my issues and now I'm no longer in pain on a daily basis and I'm finally able to do the things I love again. I'm also doing Pilates with Kelly, who is amazing and helping me strengthen my weak muscles. Her pleasant demeanor and encouragement keep me coming back weekly to tackle the reformer. All of the PTs at Core Wellness are amazing at what they do and I would recommend anyone to this practice. $175 per visit. No stars here. I called to make appointment and specifically told them I wanted to make sure they took my insurance. I was told that yes, it was covered. Then when my insurance denied services as out of network I called and someone I had never spoken to before told me I signed the agreement, blah blah $175 per visit. Bait and switch. I have been a patient at Core Wellness since 2011. I met Elizabeth shortly after she opened her Del Ray location, she actually approached me because I walked with a cane at the time. Her mere presence and attitude struck a cord and I continue seek her guidance and value her friendship. Throughout the years I have been a patient and happily treated by every therapist at Core Wellness. The reason is these therapists stay and they all bring different techniques with continuing education. I am a weekly patient now and with the onset of the closure due to COVID, I, like you, was worried how my body would react. I have been experiencing headaches 8/10 something unusual for me, I was taking ibuprofen daily for 10 days, even waking myself up at night to take a pill to help myself bare my headache and daylight. My primary care doc suggested I contact my PT to see if some of my problem was muscle or spasm related. I was reluctant at first as I didn't want to zoom, I didn't know how to download the app, or what I could possibly learn from a virtual visit that is usually hands on. I reached out to Danielle and Dana. We agreed I would zoom with Danielle and review my stretches. I went to my app store and downloaded zoom, Danielle sent me an appointment email which contained a link, I then typed in the pass code and we were talking all things PT. During my 30 minute session we reviewed four stretches and she prescribed a new exercise with a tennis ball. The end result, my headache is now a 3/10. Jolene has been a phenomenal physical therapist. I have had chronic and complicated issues with my neck and back for years (including back surgery), which at times have been terribly debilitating and painful. I saw many physical therapists before Jolene and tried everything from acupuncture to injections and nothing alleviated the pain. Jolene completely transformed the state of my body, she brought my spine into alignment and has trained me on how to keep myself in place. She has single handedly taken me out of chronic pain and I am now very healthy and regularly exercising. In addition, Jolene was an enormous help to me during each of my 3 pregnancies and recoveries from 3 c-sections. I struggled with back and pelvic issues during each. She is incredibly knowledgeable about how the body works (and doesn't work) during pregnancy and was able to address a range of issues that arose for me during my pregnancies. Jolene is caring and invested in her patients, her practice and knowledge of physical therapy goes well past typical approaches to PT. I feel incredibly grateful to have found her and highly recommend her. read more

Dana is familiar with so many different techniques to help with pain, and she can treat pelvic pain better than other therapists. She is also easy to talk with and very understanding. This place is just... too, too, too good. I can't begin to tell you all of the minor and major changes I'm noticing just after two visits with Jolene. To understand where I'm coming from, I suppose you should know my father and mother both suffer from pretty debilitating back problems. I have to remind myself that I truly won the genetic vertebral jackpot when I'm cursing the fates for the pain I endure. I've always known I've had scoliosis but my back also twists... much like a pretzel (joke!). I live with constant pain and tension in my neck and upper back and this has become the daily routine... learning to live with the pain. I've visited chiropractors and doctors but have found no solution to this problem. My boyfriend's sister is a physical therapist and even she felt that she wasn't prepared to take on the beast that is my back. At 23 years old, I have often times felt twice my senior because of the constant tension I feel in my back and the discomfort in my legs. Jolene has an understanding of how the body truly works and how to manipulate it into it's proper placement. I've often times felt like a slave to my own body but just a few days after my last visit with Jolene, I feel worlds different. As she has requested, I have some exercises to do at home to keep my back in check when I'm out of her care. I feel much more confident about my health after checking this place out. And for anyone concerned about pricing, it's $150 for your consult and typically $125 each visit after that. I am paying 100% out of pocket (my insurance won't cover my visits) and truly feel no price is too high when it comes to your health and longevity. After seeing a different physical therapist for 10 weeks post knee ACL replacement, I switch to Elizabeth. I had hit a major plateau, but Elizabeth found the solution and solved the problem. This is such a great concept - folks with backgrounds combining physical therapy, pilates and yoga. I got more out of my one hour session with Ann Wendel than I would with a dozen pilates classes. We were able to focus on how I was doing the exercises - not correctly - and how to tweak them to be more effective. She also provided changes on two exercises I was given by another physical therapists due to a knee injury that are less taxing on the knee, her versions are much better. read more

I would not go back. Physical therapy was okay. The therapist was pretty attentive at first and then less so the more I went. But what really got to me is that she told me she hates cats and thinks they should all die or something crazy such as that. I was so shocked and offended I didn't even know what to say. read more

I had a great experience with the Physical Therapist! I have chronic lower back pain and a few discs that give me problems were extremely inflamed and it made walking a difficult task. Ms Polis (the DPT) squeezed me in to her schedule and took the time to talk and find out exactly where my pain was provided treatment that immediately alleviated my pain. The waiting room is quaint and they provide a good selection of herbal teas while you wait for your treatment. Plenty of parking behind the building in a lot and street parking as well! read more
