As a student in search of a new hair stylist in Ottawa, I went online and found Precision Styling. I went to see Becky for a hair appointment a few months ago and spent well over $250 for a light balayage and left with my hair looking exactly the same (only slightly lighter and very dull). I did not have any box dye in my hair, and it was only done previously by professionals. Not to mention during the service she wasn't friendly at all, and I waited 25 minutes as she was running behind schedule. I tried to get a refund but nobody called me back so I decided to go to another hair stylist at another salon to fix my hair. Weeks later after basically harassing them to speak to a manager just to get a refund, an extremely not understanding and rude manager got back to me and said they had been "calling me" trying to get ahold of me and even had left several voice messages in my inbox. Since I had been eagerly waiting for their phone call back, I can guarantee that nobody had called me back and no messages had been left anywhere. To give them the benefit of the doubt, I double checked the number they had on file, and it was correct so they had definitely NOT called me. As a student with little money who had been saving up for months to get her hair done for her birthday, this is absolutely the worst hair salon experience i've ever had and I cried for weeks over my awful experience. The only good thing to come out of this experience is when my good friend who lives in the area, was looking for a place to get her, her soon to be wife, and their 11 bridesmaids hair done on her wedding day. She asked me if I knew anything about this place as she was seriously considering booking with them. Thank goodness I was able to tell her about my horrendous experience and save her from spending thousands of dollars on this place. If you're wanting to get any colour done, I would definitely consider going elsewhere to save your time and money. I've never left a salon feeling so upset over something that's supposed to be fun and leave you feeling confident and excited, in my life. read more

My wife loves a good day at the spa. We lived overseas for many years and there, as opposed to here, you can always find spa services for super cheap. So, since we moved back to Canada, my wife has be searching for spa places that measured up to the spoiling she got in Bali, Thailand and Korea. Il Paradiso was such a magical find for her. First of all, it is a COMPLETE spa - waxing (ugh), manicures, electrolysis (yikes), electrocoagulation (what the hell?), facials, tanning, massage, body wraps, exfoliation, etc. My wife had a pedicure (that came with a lower leg massage) and it cost $50. However, the water her feet soaked in was flat, not bubbling. And, her chair did not offer much neck support. Otherwise, she love it! read more

I only got my eyebrows done here, but it was a perfect experience so I feel like I had to give it 5 stars. I'm definitely coming back for a hair cut or a manicure at some point so when I do I'll update this. I was greeted by a polite lady at the front desk, who brought me back to the waiting room for spa services. The salon was very busy and this was on a sunday, so I figured that was a good sign. I didn't wait too long until a lovely lady named Meg came and led me to a quiet serene room to do my eyebrows. Some people are completely gifted in the sense that they can make small talk not awkward at all, and Meg was one of these people. I actually didn't mind talking her up. I like that they use the same rooms to do waxing as they do for massages because lets face it, waxing of any sort sucks terribly and it definitely makes it easier if the environment is as relaxing as possible. Anyway, she spent a long time on my eyebrows to make sure she got them right. I was happy when she showed me them, they were perfect! She asked me if the shape was okay and ensured that I was pleased with the job she did. It came to $18, about standard anywhere you go. I'll definitely be back to get my eyebrows done, and next time I need any beauty treatment! read more

Well, I have to say that I do like going here for a cut and a colour...but they are WAY overpriced. I was willing to pay it, but was just coming away from their establishment with the nagging feeling of being ripped off. And then I had a pedicure. it had to be the worst pedicure I've ever had, The most basic of equipment, the woman never stopped talking and there were absolutely zero perks. When I go for a pedi I expect comfort, and not just a basin to put my feet into. I expect to have my nails polished and DRY when I leave. That means a professional curing machine that dries my nails. By the time I got home they were completely wrecked even though she wrapped my toes in plastic with something slimy inside. Very uncomfortable to say the least. I have never paid so much for a half done job and then had to go home and take the polish off. My feet still exhibited dry skin and winter buildup. I think the woman doing it was more concerned with getting it done rather than paying any attention to my feet. They would be better off not providing this service. For a mall salon, I'd give it a pass. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS SALON! I've used this salon twice in the past while, different stylists each time, and they end up charging you ALOT more than what they say they will. At the end of this appointment they totally surprise you with extra charges. I went home crying the last time and I will never go there again. I always confirm the price at a hair salon before we get started and fully discuss what is being done so there are no surprises. Even though I confirmed everything ahead of time, they ended up charging me wayyy over the price they said it would be anyway. They also try to sell you products whether you need them or not. I bought a conditioner they convinced me would be wonderful and it totally dried out my hair. In addition to what happened to me when I went there, senior woman recently told me she went to this salon, had her hair cut and colored and they charged her way more in the end than what they told her it was going to cost. She also cried after she left this place. In addition to charging her an outrageous and unexpected price, they also didn't do what they said they would do to her hair. Please don't trust this salon. They are dishonest and they will charge you insane amounts of money that you shouldn't have to pay for what they do there. They are taking advantage of people and it's very sad. I was a little unhappy with my result as I had showed the hairstylist a picture before she started. Also I had booked in advance and was told there will be no time for a blow dry and I said that's ok. She also had to remove my highlights early due to the fact I was booked so late for a service that requires a lot of time. It's common sense to book a customer for the length of her service. Anyways so she takes out my colour and says it's not lighter than what I had before. I was just so anxious to see the colour. It wasn't all that food. I had a band of colour in my hair which as a professional she should have pointed out and tried to correct it. But only after the service I asked for a picture and only then she noticed and asked me about it. She barely talked to me, it was always me starting conversations. Just not good service overall. Find a more professional salon for your money. I was only expecting to pay for my colour, nothing more as I was told no blow dry. She ended up doing a very quick and messy blow dry and then hot ironed a little bit. The blow dry should have taken more time and she didn't ask me if I wanted straight or wavy blow dry because I thought she clearly said before the appointment she does not have time for it. Anyways my hair is slight bit brighter but not impressed with the service . read more

Some of the worst haircuts I've had were at Precision Hair Design. I was able to find one stylist I liked, but a couple times, for one reason or another, I was thrown at some other stylist. She didn't seem to know what she was doing and I would watch and see exactly what she was about to do and I kept telling her I wanted layers, texture, etc. But every time she seemed incapable of giving me anything but a weird blunt cut that looked like something my friend could have done for me. The prices are also too high for the quality of hair styles I see coming out of the salon. After my stylist left, I left too. read more

I had a horrible experience at Precision Hair Styling. I wanted a dark red balayage because that suits my skin tone. I told the girl what I wanted and even showed her a picture of what I wanted. She gave me a mix of brassy and blonde colour that looked horrible on me. She certainly did not give the colour I had chosen from the book that matched the picture I had brought with me. I have enough experience with hair colour to know what suits me. I picked the right one and she gave me the colour that she thought I would look good in. She did not have enough experience with colour for sure. I am 30 years old and she made me look like a 50-year old lady. She literally ruined it for me. Also, I did not want a haircut. She said it would be good to trim it at first and then after cutting a little bit she said it will be good to have layers which I already had. She was manipulative and never discussed the price or anything. She ripped me off. After I was done, my husband looked at my hair and said I looked weird. I always received compliments on my hair and this is first I received negative comments. The stylist also made me buy a shampoo and of course, the most expensive one. I paid $260 which I had no intention of spending on my hair that day. I used the shampoo and it actually lightened the colour even more, making it worse than it was. I had to go to Walmart and buy a hair colour to fix it. I choose the I showed her at the salon which she did not give me and now it looks beautiful. The $260 literally went down the drain. I could have done it in $10. I would NEVER EVER go back to this place. It is sad that how inexperienced people can rip you off like this. read more

If I could rate this salon a 0 star I would. I came to this salon for a consultation for highlights ( my hair was already very blonde just needed my roots touched up), long story short I booked an appointment with their blonde " specialist " jasmine... and well she slapped on bleach on my head for hours and my hair AND scalp was chemically burnt off. I was left with what looked like a few strands of dead crispy hair and a bleeding, blister filled scalp. They then charged me after the fact. I was extremely uncomfortable with everyone there as they made me feel as if it was my fault, not one person apologized for this disaster. The whole time they tried fixing the issues they were telling me it was because I was on medication??? First of all that is the most uneducated ridiculous response I've ever heard in my life. I then spoke with the owner Dan ( as I was crying) that I was so upset and couldn't leave the house due to my hair condition. He then proceeded to suggest tape in hair extensions which ripped my hair out and I was charged over 1000+$ for all these services (extensions +treatments). This place NEEDS to be put out of business. All their salon " hairstylists " are clearly very unqualified ignorant people. DO NOT VISIT THIS SALON!!! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I had the worst experience EVER. I cried for the first time ever over my hair. My stylist told stories of all the times she messed up colouring her own hair and other peoples hair... as she is putting highlights into my hair. No one seemed to know what they were doing There were large bleeds all over my head and unnattractive patches of my own hair colour throughout. Worst of all I payed ALOT for a terrible job. Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and the dishonest hair stylist. I was charged twice the price for the same color I had 3 months ago and the stylist over processed my hair and damaged it, the manager would not return my call and when I was asked to come back in to fix the color it turned out worse. I have been a happy client of Il Paradiso Spa and Tanning Salon unltil this morning. I have brought in new customers on more than one occasion. Well, last night I went for a pedicure, and had my leather jacket switched. When I walked in this morning, I was greeted by a very condescending older man who spoke with and accent refused to give me his name, treated me like a child, refused to even aplogize for the mixup and pointed to a sign on the wall that the spa is not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Well, last night when the staff member who took my jacket asked me if they can take my jacket, I was not informed of that policy. Even though the staff are really sweet and professional the manager or owner or whoever he was has no notion of basic customer service and does not realise that he needs to speak with respect to women who make up the majority of his customer base. As a customer and as a woman, I was very uspet and disappointed. I will never return to that spa again. After all there are so many spas to choose from in Ottawa. read more

Overpriced hair salon and the stylist became careless as I was a regular client and completely destroyed my hair. I now have "banding" and paid almost 200$ for this mess. I came here several times before my hair was destroyed and found the staff is unfriendly and rude as well. Avoid make-up application because the products are junk. I have been getting my hair done here for years, and although I have tried other places, I am happiest with my hair when I go to Precision. My kids, who are now teenagers, both go to Precision too now and others who have recommended the salonkeep going. It's not the trendiest place in town, and it is not the cheapest. But Dan who cuts my hair travels a lot and knows the newest styles. Over the years I have had staff and clients tell me that "I must spend a fortune on my hair." (I do not!) Try JS for guys cuts. My hair was butchered. For the price I paid I am highly unsatisfied. I had to get my hair cut and couldn't go to my stylist in time so I went here out of recommendation. Since leaving I noticed my already thin hair was thinned further, the bangs looked like they were just cut straight with a pair of elementary school scissors and I didn't even know it was possible to make a shave on the sides and back look so amateur, and that's a compliment. 0/10, Do not go here. read more

I have been going to Precision for over 15 years and I am VERY satisfied with the quality of their service. Joe has usually (but not always) taken care of my hair and has been a thoughtful, extemely capable, and compassionate stylist/owner who really cares about the quality of work carried out within his establishments. In his absence, other stylists at the salon have also done excellent work. I started with long hair, switched to very short, and have gradually moved to medium length hair. I started out a dark brunette, grayed, and went wonderfully blond. I have had sleek cuts and heavily layered and textured cuts. Joe and his stylists provide excellent service at reasonable cost and don't try to pressure clients to pay for services or solutions they don't require. They also are happy to offer suggestions, based on their years of experience. When I am in the salon, I have seen them deal effectively and with warmth with clients of all ages, hair types and colours, and hair styles. On the rare occasions when I wasn't completely satisfied with the results, Joe has dealt with the issue promptly and to my complete satisfaction. The new generation of stylists joining the salon also bring new vitality and expertise to the mix. The look and feel of my hair is very important to me and I would never cut costs for a good cut. At Precision, I get very good value and very good service so I am happy to recommend them. read more
