I have had issues with my feet for years both diabetes-related and after crushing foot trauma from…read morean auto accident that resulted in over 45 fractures in my feet flattening out mostly the left foot elongating and widening my foot. I had significant pain when using, and when putting my feet up at night from the trauma and neuropathy from being an insulin-dependent diabetic for many years while obese. As part of my massive weight loss, I began walking daily first around the block then after stopping the many pain medications, including high dose opioids that pain management had me taking and working through that hurdle. I began to walk further and further and intermittently running, and I now only use occasional Tylenol or ibuprofen for mostly only neck/head pain from cervical fractures and reconstruction. The pain is almost nonexistent in my feet so long as I keep moving. If I go a few days not moving like from being sick or lazy, I am in extreme pain. My Penn podiatry group in Philadelphia where all my specialist from the trauma and other medical conditions are at wanted to do extensive reconstructive surgeries on both feet that would have had me unable to walk without an immobilizer and no weight-bearing on one foot then the other and no lower extremity exercise for over two years. I discovered Dr. Parker right here in Langhorne for routine foot care, the stuff Penn docs had no interest in doing, my family doctor suggested him, thanks to Dr. Liebreich! He did nail care, orthotics and we discussed the surgeries that the Penn docs scheduled after the first 15-minute consultation. Please know that Penn specialist have saved my life and I highly recommend the other departments. The results of these surgeries came with 50/50 odds I would never be able to walk normally or even at all again. At this point, I worked up to not only walking daily, and losing over 130 pounds with a healthy diet and the exercise but now running up to 5 miles thanks to Dr. Parker, proper fit and good quality custom orthotics from Lawall and Sons and my motivation. Dr. Parker said to me; you have to think about it carefully as a result of my fear of not being able to walk and of weight gain from being laid up for two years. He said, "Your running 5 miles; you're not having debilitating pain currently so consider that risk of the outcome". He never said anything against the advice of the Philly team but made me think twice that with my body transformation being a priority and that I liked the idea of not having feet that look like a cartoon villain but in all reality, mobility was the priority to me based on our extensive conversations. I left the office thought about it a few days and canceled the surgery to never return to the Penn podiatrist. Yesterday Dr, Parker did a surgical procedure releasing the tendons that caused my toes to curl downward and creating an open wound that would not heal. He is the kindest man, generous with his time, laser-focused on your best interest, and his entire office staff is pleasant, thorough and so caring. All this and no traffic nightmares on 95, no $25 parking fee for a few hours, no desire to operate because it generates more revenue but excellent foot care convenient to access, the beautiful office is in a park-like setting, and my feet are doing great. Thanks, Dr. Parker, and your entire team!
