The understructure of the old deck was beginning to fail and the understructure supports the roof that covers most of the deck. Before hiring Denver Decks to do the job we used AI to recommend good deck companies in the Denver area. We contacted four companies, three responded and Denver Decks was one of those three. Our deck is 17' x 20' and the estimates to do the job were similar. We were promptly contacted and set up a meeting with Paul Koehn from Denver Decks. We met with Paul and quickly realized that he was much more that just a salesman for the company. He had built many decks before moving into sales so his knowledge of what is needed for a new deck was extensive, readily available, and we actually enjoyed discussing our project with him. Paul also indicated that Denver Decks always complies with the codes and permit process that exists for such projects in Denver. One of the companies that we contacted said that they do not pull permits for work in Denver and if something goes wrong during the process it would be our fault! Paul had lots of photos of other projects that Denver Decks had completed. The photo collection was extensive, well organized, and included pictures of stairs, railings, deck surfaces and lights that have been used in other projects. It really made it easier for us to decide what we wanted for our deck. After deciding on what we wanted for our deck the deconstruction of the old deck began and we got to meet/talk with Jay (project manager), Mike (site manager) and Jim, the craftsman for our deck. The communication throughout the project was great! The roof, that covered most of the 17'x20' deck, was supported by three 4"x4" posts that were set upon the deck surface that was supported by two 2"x8" boards on edge. I was very nervous that the aging understructure might fail and drop the roof onto the deck. Denver Decks installed 3 caissons to support the new 6"x6" posts that would now support the roof and 3 added caissons to support the outer edge of the deck. Each cement caisson was 19" in diameter and 36" deep. My worries about the roof falling ceased to exist! After the old deck was removed Jim began to build the new deck. I do not have words that can adequately express how impressed we were with the craftsmanship, construction knowledge and care that Jim displayed in building our deck. The skill that he displayed in all aspects of the construction were amazing and the best that I've ever witnessed in all of the projects that I've ever hired or been around. He built our deck the way that I would've built it if I had his knowledge, skill, equipment and his many years of construction experience! Thank you Jim! Such decks are not cheap and the price for Denver Decks to do the job was similar to that of the company that said they would not pull permits! Building a deck is one of those many situations in life where you truly do, "get what you paid for" and we didn't pay a cent until the job was finished to our satisfaction. Apologies for such a long review but a short review just would not do in this case. Denver Decks did a great job for us and we wholeheartedly recommend them for your deck. They said they'd get it done. It's been two months. Didn't clean up after themselves and left screws scattered in the lawn for my one year old to find. Left a huge bolt protruding from my concrete patio under the deck which is a safety issue. Not worth 20,000 dollars. Knowing what I know now, I would have paid more for a better job.

The women said they would send someone out after the photos and first quote to give us a second quote. The owner text my husband the same day apologizing for how she handled things. He said that was not how their process works and he would have her trained properly. My husband gave him the benefit of the doubt and scheduled an appointment to have someone come out next week. He asked my husband what our budget is. My husband told him he wasn't going to give him a budget, he just wants a quote. The owner then tells my husband he doesn't want to waste his time. Why own a business then? My husband was really interested in having this company do the work but because the owner lacks professionalism we will take our business elsewhere.

We determined the density of the shade as we were getting a lot of sun due to our location. We decided on the 97% as we still could see the mountain through the shade. Do not use these people!! The worst experience we have ever had. We were lied to daily. When we…read morefirst signed up the owner told us he had all his own people who worked for him. Nope he hired sub contractors who said they would show and never did. They put many of the elements in backwards or upside down.. thank heavens we could read English and told them about it. Worst of all the owner called us begging for money even though it was not due. And at the end they left open and expired permits after we had made a final payment. We had to hire an attorney which they refuse to pay. It was a total nightmare. One of the workers truck died in our driveway and it took weeks to move it. We went on vacation and told them that no one should be on our property. They came and hopped a locked fence. The electrician they had no exaggeration told us he was coming 20 times and never showed up. Our hot tub which we were told to buy 13 months before it was put in ....sat in our backyard for 5 months..then they decided to carry it to put it in...they broke a piece off. we had to use our warranty to fix it. It took 8 men to carry it...I have all of this documented with pictures and video. The reviews they have on their website are misleading. The project managers that we had ALL 5 OF THEM would lie through their teeth for various reasons. A 4 month project took 18 months....the permits were finally closed.
