That being said if you're staying in this place for the most part, the nurses are good, but there are as in most cases bad ones. I had pleasant experience of having a bad one. She brought me my evening medication at 2:10 in the morning and my morning medication at 4:30 in the morning and when I ask her about it, she said oh no, I didn't ask. She went if you end up in wing H the facility you're the very last one to receive your food and for the most part it will be cold time you get it And also they run out of certain things on the menu that you're supposed to get and you won't receive them But that being said you were just there for physical therapy you'll be all right

I am just leaving KCOI in Leawood where the doctor I saw over the weekend at KCOI Urgent Care…read morescheduled an MRI on my cervical spine. I checked in for the appointment today, paid my co-pay and waited for a technician to call me. Once I got in the MRI department, I reminded the tech that I have a Spinal Cord Stimulator implanted by Dr. Fotopolis in 2024. I had discussed this with the tech and doctor that saw me in the Urgent Care department. I also recorded it on the intake form that day. The tech told me they don't have the correct MRI machine to do any MRI's on patients with stimulator implants and none of their facilities do and I needed to make an appt. at an independent imaging company. The people I spoke with today at KCOI were very apologetic and I understand mistakes are made. What I am upset about is evidently the doctors at KCOI put in 100's of stimulators each year and are supposedly they are the #1 rated Ortho Hospital in the city, yet they don't choose to buy an imaging machine that is stimulator compatible. Frankly, I was stunned

After a hospitalization and an initial consultation with another orthopedic surgeon--who only ordered X-rays on the day surgery was scheduled, then canceled without providing a clear plan--we knew it was time to get a second opinion. That's when we found KC Orthopedic. Their team carefully reviewed all prior records and matched us with Dr. Peer, who proved to be the perfect physician for this complex case. From the start, Dr. Peer showed incredible professionalism and attention to detail. He coordinated with the primary care provider to order the necessary X-rays, EKGs, and labs. He also took the time to understand the full medical history, including a difficult past knee replacement on the other leg that had led to complications. Dr. Peer approached surgery with extraordinary care. He spent nearly four hours performing the knee replacement to ensure precision and safety. The outcome was remarkable--the knee was usable right away, and there has been no post-operative pain. After such a disappointing experience with the first surgeon, working with Dr. Peer was a completely different experience. He listened, cared deeply, and was prepared every step of the way. We are beyond grateful for Dr. Peer's skill and dedication, and we wholeheartedly recommend him and KC Orthopedic to anyone in need of orthopedic care. Truly the best physician we've ever worked with.

He does have some blind spots though that you should know about before you would choose to work with him. I have been in extreme pain every day and night since the beginning of May, 2022. My life has been altered in a way that has put me into a depression. I missed my spring, summer and fall and there is no end in sight at this point. I have missed a friend's funeral due to not being able to travel. I can't go on vacation, I can't do my art or gardening and my new physical therapy with someone else is progressing so slowly that we can do hardly anything. My doctor says I have a long road ahead of me. I was almost finished seeing Mike for the issue that brought me to him. In fact, I thought it was our last visit. He can be extremely arrogant and when he gets like that, won't listen. He became obsessed with what he referred to as my dowager's hump. I told him that I had been born with a curvature of the spine, and he knew that I had degenerative disc disease. The disc disease was the cause of the issues that I had seen him for off and on over a two year period. He wanted me to hyperextend backwards on a table with arms overhead over a hard plastic roll that is hard as a rock. I argued with him for 10 mins about it telling him that I thought it might injure me and that it was a move I'd never been able to do as a child and certainly not as a 68 year old woman. He kept saying just do it. Finally, he leaned down and said to me..."we've talked about that hump". A manipulative move with an old lady not feeling great about how society views older women. Unfortunately, I did do it. I told him it felt like I broke my back. He smiled and told me to move the roll slightly and try again. When I said it still hurt he told me to hold to the count of 20, 3 times. He told me to continue it at home and when I came in the next time and told him I was in too much pain to do any home exercises or do anything there, he said, "let's try it another way" with me on my stomach trying to push up with my arms. When I broke down in sobs, he tossed me a kleenix. He did not take any of this under advisement. He in fact did not appear to care. He seemed annoyed. I know that when in physical therapy, true pain is a sign that you are doing something you should not be doing. He refused to take note of this. I had always been completely compliant with him. He should have at least viewed this as unusual and noteworthy. So, after 2 sets of Xrays and 2 MRIs, we find that I have a torn disc, a protruding disc, another disc sliding another the other and pain like I've never had before. When I went in to the spine guy after 4 months or so of dealing with this, he couldn't believe a physical therapist would have ever done this. He said, don't ever let anyone do this to you again. The 3 new physical therapists I've seen have all been devasted for me and couldn't believe someone would have a woman my age with degenerative disc disease do this. All three of them were angry. I bring this to your attention because orginally when I finally contacted him, I told him that I wouldn't give him a bad review or report him or sue him, I just wanted him to learn and never do this to another person. However, his attitude has made me believe that he may not have learned anything from this. He actually tried to blame me for it by saying, "I thought you knew your body and what it could handle but I guess I was wrong". I think we had a communication problem. When I mentioned my 10 mins. of explaining to him why I shouldn't do it, coupled with all my reports of severe pain afterwards including massive cramping of my entire back, both legs and neck (cramps which he worked to try to remove to no avail), he said, "well, I heard you say those words but it didn't seem like you said them with the same strength. Since then, Mike's supervisor had two conversations with me laughing both times. He referred the matter to their insurance company and legal team, telling me that they would contact me. NO ONE HAS CONTACTED ME. The last time I heard from him by text was Nov. 9th, saying they would contact me soon. Again. Nothing but crickets. If I were you, I would consider another physical therapist. I think that Mike manages the place so that is something to keep in mind.
