I have to say I am so impressed with my Cardiology Doctors, Dr. Crile MD, and Dr. McGough MD…read more Their Staff is so friendly, making sure You are important and respected. I didn't even know I had heart problems. I ended up with Open Heart surgery on October 28th, 2020. Spent 11 days in Troy Beaumont Hospital. Now I am 73 days post op. Feeling better every day. I highly recommend Academic Cardiology to anyone who needs a cardiologists.

My husband got roped into using this practice after he had pulmonary embolisms and the hospital…read moresent in a cardiologist. Neither my husband nor I cared for this doctor's "bedside manner". My husband asked a question and the doctor was rather flip and thought himself funny. When my husband had to start going for checkups, they put him with a different doctor. This guy has a poor personality. Very negative. My husband needed his knees replaced and when discussing that with Dr. Crile, he was asked why he wanted them replaced. What a stupid question. How about because he's in a lot of pain and couldn't walk? Anyway, he has one knee done and needs to have the other taken care of. In the process of waiting to do the knees, my husband has lost 80+ lbs (WITHOUT crappy GLP drugs or bariatric surgery). Good, right? You'd think he'd get an "atta boy" and " keep up the good work" from this guy. Nope. Instead his latest visit was "you must lose weight or we have to do a catheterization instead of continuing with echos". My husband had his six-month check up last fall and the office called last minute and said you'll be with someone else because he's too busy and people were trying to get insurance matters taken care of because it was the end of the year. That was fine and not a problem UNTIL the person was going to add another drug to try to get his ejection rate even higher. Now, Dr. Crile had not been bothered by the ejection rate because as time passed after the PE's, it came back up. This fill-in "doctor" prescribed a drug and when my husband went to pick it up, the pharmacist told him he really shouldn't be taking it with the other heart med he's on because of interaction. My husband called the doctor's office and the woman rudely told him if it's prescribed he should take it. My husband insisted on a response from Dr. Crile who then said, "Oh, no, you shouldn't take it." Today he mentioned that happening and Dr. Crile's response was that the other guy was "just a D.O.". My husband then asked him how come he okayed the drug because supposedly this guy checked with him and got the okay. The staff in this office can also be incredibly rude as well. Not that my husband is looking for new best friends, but would it hurt this guy and the staff to be more pleasant? I already know when it's my turn, I will NOT be using this practice. I have no respect for them.

The app doesn't work. They "don't process refill requests from pharmacies". You can't request refills online because of the broken app and the front desk doesn't care about patients, the receptionists are rude, dismissive and accusatory. I had a physical in March. I assumed that my doctor just refilled all my meds then but she didn't. I needed one today so I called to get that handled because Troy Internal Medicine wasn't responding to the pharmacy. After a 20 minute wait a receptionist finally answered and was completely disinterested in anything I had to say. She was rude and dismissive, for no reason. She also didn't pay attention to what I was saying and got the name of the medication wrong. ( I found this out hours later ) A couple of hours go by and I call the pharmacy, Troy Internal Medicine called in every medication OTHER THAN THE ONE I NEED. I called the doctor's office back ( another long wait ), got a different receptionist and she informed me that the medication I needed came up on something called MAPS as being filled in March. I told her that it was last filled in January, read it from my bottle and she all but accused me of drug seeking. I was totally confused because the medication I needed isn't even a controlled substance in any sort of MAPS sense and I've been taking it for decades. she assured me that she would discuss it with my doctor. I call the pharmacy, they confirm that I didn't have it filled in March and ask the doctors office to call them, I call the doctors office and after another 20 minute wait I ask them to call the pharmacy. I wait another hour and call the pharmacy, of course they never received a call from Troy IM. This time the pharmacist answered and he said "they are confusing the medications, they think you are asking for drug A, which was refilled in March, ( and I've taken 2 of ) not drug B which was last refilled in January and isn't a MAPS drug so they flagged you as drug seeking for the wrong medication. FLAGGED ME AS DRUG SEEEKING???? what??? All because ONE receptionist didn't want to bother listening to what I was saying. She shouldn't be working with people and she definitely shouldn't be working with patients at a doctor's office. Bottom line: avoid this doctor's office. the ratings are in the toilet for a reason.
