I have had the pleasure of ordering several loads of wood from premier and I can revise my last review to say that you get what you pay for with this company. The reason it's more expensive is because it's kiln dried! Above that, the owner is amazing an accommodating, the guys that delivered stacked it so perfectly I almost didn't want to ruin it! i've used these folks in the past and generally speaking have been very satisfied this particular year I got a two core delivery of what was to be Kim dried firewood, and I have have had to clean out the inside of my JOTUL glass almost weekly. In the prior several years, I've never had to clean it, of course for a little dust, but never for what burns on the inside of the fireplace and that is no longer the case almost weekly. I have to really not only use specialized cleaners to get the chemicals off the inside of the glass fireplace, but I also have to know use razors to scrape some of it off. It's so resin heavy. I have no idea what has caused this other than the type of wood, the curing of the wood or how wet the wood is, but at this point, I cannot recommend this service or can I use it again? It's unfortunate, but I will look for a better service and really test of what I actually even have a wood test meter now for water for a liquid, which I never needed it in the past. read more

These folks are the real deal. Family owned and operated. All hardworking and customer focused. The owner was out in 16 degree weather driving the tractor and moving wood to make sure everyone was taken care of before the storm. Son was out too- smiling, warm, and friendly. Went in to pay and the son's wife was helping too. This is what a family business does. The professionalism, kindness, and caring for the customers was A+++. Great people. Great business. And the wood is premium hardwood. I just put a log on and only needed a little piece of kindling to get it started. It's dry and lit easily. It's also clean. No bugs. No moss or bad pieces. I have a ton of it in the living room for the storm this weekend.. on my floor. No worries about moisture. Usually my brother in law helps me with wood. Really good quality firewood and on par with what you'll pay at other places for Kiln fired hardwoods. I reaalllly like how you can select specific woods. I cook with wood frequently and was able to pickup a cart of Cherry wood that was great quality and produced some fine smoke. Pro tip: If you can pick up vs delivery you will save some $$$. read more

I'm updating my review as I feel my original review was unfair. Steve was very nice ... as well as the guys who delivered. The wood is very nice. I'm enjoying my first fire. It was so easy to light! I used a paper bag. My only complaint is the price. I see it's in alignment with other companies offering kiln dried wood but it doesn't seem practical for me seeing that I burn in a wood stove and use wood to off set my heating Bill. It's just to expensive. This would make a really nice gift for someone who enjoys fires. The presentation is beautiful and it's quality wood. I'm not sure I would purchase agin though. read more

I posted a review on 12/22/2021 where I vented some frustration over what I felt was a lack of response from Premier. To their credit, they actually personally followed up with me via both e-mail and phone calls. In the end, we determined Outlook had Premier as a blocked address (...not merely moved to spam folder). We have been clients of Premier since 2015, and will continue to be one going forward, as Steve's due diligence in resolving the issue was astounding. I give him a lot of credit...and it speaks to the importance reviews play with small business owners. I rarely ever post a review, and admittedly have never followed up on a review...but in this case, it is very deserving!! Excellent wood -- beautifully seasoned and ready to burn. I had located another area company which offered more wood for a cheaper price but it was stored outside and needed to "dry out" (no thanks)....this wood is comparable to wood we had stored in our garage for years. Steve was a pleasure to work with and the people who delivered the wood stacked it expertly into the rack we have in our garage. We are so happy with our purchase. Is is more expensive? Yes. They arrived exactly on time, off loaded the wood quickly and expertly into a perfect face cord on my patio, cleaned up any stray wood chips in the area and even took the time to explain to me the varieties of wood they'd delivered. I have used Premier Firewood for the last 4 years because I found that using kiln dried firewood is much better than buying "seasoned" firewood from local nurseries. Kiln dried firewood lights right up and it has no bugs or mold on it. Sometimes I picked up the firewood from Premier's Norwalk address and they dumped it in the back of my pickup truck. Many times, however, I had them deliver it to my house. You definitely need to keep an eye on the workers though if they are going to deliver and stack the firewood. Last week they showed up at my house for a delivery and just sat in the driveway for about 15 minutes. I watched them from my window to see what they were doing. They finally got out of their truck and I went outside and told the first worker exactly where to stack the wood. He ignored me and walked around the house looking around like he was "casing" my house. I watched the second guy from the window and he did the exact same thing. Then I caught him peeing under one of the windows while my family was home. I opened the window and asked him to stop and he said "What are you going to do about it?". I proceeded to walk outside and told the guys to get off my property. One thing was clear. This worker was not afraid of any consequences from the owner. I called the owner and explained to him what happened. He argued with me for 15 minutes about how I must have been mistaken; or how I must have misunderstood his worker because "his English isn't very good". I explained to him that I personally saw him and that there was no miscommunication because he understood me perfectly when I told him to get off my property. I then completely understood why the worker was not afraid of any consequences from the owner. My belief is that this owner was afraid of his own guys working for him. I'm going to continue buying kiln dried firewood but I'm switching over to a new provider (Country Kiln Firewood in Stratford). Their prices are slightly cheaper and they offer free delivery. read more

Very convenient. Went through half a cord in 3 months of winter, making a couple fires a week in the process. Wood burns for a very long time compared to other firewood, as advertised. Saved money by picking it up, I'm sure the delivery/stacking service is great. This is a well run father & son local business. I am ready to pick up another half cord. read more

This firewood is good but extremely expensive! They sell firewood by the face cord so you think you are paying a competitive price for firewood when actually you are paying a huge premium as a face cord is 1/3 the size of a cord. Don't be fooled...shop around!!! read more

Wonderful wood and the company is a pleasure to deal with. Yes, the wood is pricier than we have ever paid for in the past, but we use so much less because it burns slowly and efficiently (as much as a fire can be "efficient"). In addition, this is the only wood that hasn't made smoke and does not leave the house smelling like fire for days after. It doesn't stuff us up or aggravate allergies. Even my husband who thought it was waayyyyy too expensive is sold on it. Ordering more today. read more
