Plus we had 2 houses. Well one needed a new roof and the other one likely has another couple of years left. As an aside, if you turn in a claim to your insurance company, even if it is denied, you risk higher premiums or cancelation. That is why it is important to have Newman Roofing spend time assessing. In our case, our roof was more wear and tear with minimal hail. Dan and his guys were on time, even early. Weather has consistently been in the mid 90's. I was worried. But Newman keeps them well supplied with hydration. 14 man crew meant lots of vehicles, even a dump truck but they were minimally disruptive to our neighbors. Furniture moved, netting put up to minimize construction mess on house and garden areas. And then they went to work. All I can say is WOW. I am so pleased. The coordination of the process went smoothly, even when minor issues arose, of which there were few. They even had to replace some rotting window frames and sills and were able to do so in the same style as the original. There's only one other issue that needs attention, but based on our experience with how other issues have been resolved, we are confident in a positive resolution. I remember vividly me and my adjuster reached out to them multiple times for two months with no response even though they have been assigned to this claim, after no response, me and my adjuster decided to report them to the insurance company only after we reported them to the insurance company they started responding to us after a two month delay. I decided I did not want to move forward with them for repairs because of this, And had to seek out a new construction company to do the repairs. I do not recommend this company at all if you're looking for a company that is responsive, professional, or with integrity.

Consumers & Insurance Companies, beware!…read more We entered contract with Benchmark on January 11th, 2022 after experiencing water loss from a faulty bathroom faucet on December 14th, 2021. Our contract was signed with Benchmark for $14,795.78 to perform work including flooring, drywall repair, painting, vanity replacement, etc. Benchmark's contract in the bottom right hand corner includes insurance work addendums which were not filled out by the project manager, were not orally disclosed to us by the project manager nor did we as home owners initial or sign to the terms. It is important to note that we were referred to Benchmark by our insurance company and were not required to utilize this company but elected to. (All loss dollars were paid directly to us and were instructed we could hire any contractor we chose to.) Upon work completion in April payment was made to Benchmark in full. Unbeknown to us, Benchmark filed a supplement for additional work they claim to have completed in our home that was not included in the estimate for $2,327.37. After several written communications back and forth with the company owner, our adjustor was included. It was discovered that Benchmark furthermore did not updated the insurance estimate to include the real costs of materials used for repairs. This includes hundreds of dollars saved on a vanity/countertop and thousands of dollars saved by the hard wood flooring we selected being on close out. In addition, we were "required" by Benchmark to work with Rite Rug flooring. During this process, we replaced the additional carpet and flooring in our home in order for all rooms to match. We learned that Rite Rug adds around 20% of the invoice when working with Benchmark due to this being insurance work. Benchmark refuses to acknowledge this as true though the invoices once migrated to our names directly were around 20% lower and essentially mirrored what our neighbor had just paid a few weeks earlier for the same material and square footage. From our insurance adjustor's perspective, this dispute became between us as consumers and the contractor. Several emails from the owner included the language "we will move forward" with the assumption that they would file a mechanics lien on our property. The supplement has been paid to them at this time as we work with the Ohio Attorney General and the Ohio Department of Insurance Fraud & Enforcement Division. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars related to this claim belong to consumers or insurance companies related to this claim, not this contractor. Consumers are price gauged via increasing insurance rates from these types of poor unethical behaviors. Consider hiring a different contractor to perform your work.

Called them. The person who came on the 1st was nice, went on the roof, said he saw nothing. Looked in the crawl space from a ladder--he didn't go in, and said it was a condensation/venting issue-they installed the roof vent when they installed the roof, and that someone else from the company would follow up. Emailed them on the 13th about the f/u. No response. Called another company. He went up took photos and there was a bullet hole in the shingle. He repaired it immediately. As the 614 inspection was done before the 4th, and I noticed the dampness in the ceiling before the 4th, the hole was likely there on the 1st when he said there was nothing wrong. Even if the roof warranty would not cover that kind of damage, it would have been nice to have received accurate information on the 1st, so that I could have had it repaired. It is probably good that they didn't follow up because I might have ended up spending unnecessary dollars to 'ventilate,' when ventilation was not the source of the problem. Nevertheless, since it is so close to the end of the warranty, I question whether they didn't follow-up because they didn't want to honor the warranty. To me, properly diagnosing and correcting 2 out of 5 issues after installation-4 within the first 3 years of installation, that are directly related to properly sealing the water heater vent pipe, properly installing flashing, installing the appropriate kitchen exhaust vent or properly aligning the edge shingles isn't stellar performance. As I have learned the hard way, there's more to roof installation than nailing on shingles.
