This company called me right back and got out to do a free estimate within 24 hours for siding repair. I have siding that is warping on a 5 year old home and instead of raking me over the coals by recommending all new replacement siding they were honest and quoted me the repair price instead! Beware of this company I had to report them to the better business bureau for a couple of reasons. They were assigned to my insurance claim to have my house repaired in a time of need. I remember vividly me and my adjuster reached out to them multiple times for two months with no response even though they have been assigned to this claim, after no response, me and my adjuster decided to report them to the insurance company only after we reported them to the insurance company they started responding to us after a two month delay. I decided I did not want to move forward with them for repairs because of this, And had to seek out a new construction company to do the repairs. I do not recommend this company at all if you're looking for a company that is responsive, professional, or with integrity. read more

Consumers & Insurance Companies, beware! We entered contract with Benchmark on January 11th, 2022 after experiencing water loss from a faulty bathroom faucet on December 14th, 2021. Our contract was signed with Benchmark for $14,795.78 to perform work including flooring, drywall repair, painting, vanity replacement, etc. Benchmark's contract in the bottom right hand corner includes insurance work addendums which were not filled out by the project manager, were not orally disclosed to us by the project manager nor did we as home owners initial or sign to the terms. It is important to note that we were referred to Benchmark by our insurance company and were not required to utilize this company but elected to. (All loss dollars were paid directly to us and were instructed we could hire any contractor we chose to.) Upon work completion in April payment was made to Benchmark in full. Unbeknown to us, Benchmark filed a supplement for additional work they claim to have completed in our home that was not included in the estimate for $2,327.37. After several written communications back and forth with the company owner, our adjustor was included. It was discovered that Benchmark furthermore did not updated the insurance estimate to include the real costs of materials used for repairs. This includes hundreds of dollars saved on a vanity/countertop and thousands of dollars saved by the hard wood flooring we selected being on close out. In addition, we were "required" by Benchmark to work with Rite Rug flooring. During this process, we replaced the additional carpet and flooring in our home in order for all rooms to match. We learned that Rite Rug adds around 20% of the invoice when working with Benchmark due to this being insurance work. Benchmark refuses to acknowledge this as true though the invoices once migrated to our names directly were around 20% lower and essentially mirrored what our neighbor had just paid a few weeks earlier for the same material and square footage. From our insurance adjustor's perspective, this dispute became between us as consumers and the contractor. Several emails from the owner included the language "we will move forward" with the assumption that they would file a mechanics lien on our property. The supplement has been paid to them at this time as we work with the Ohio Attorney General and the Ohio Department of Insurance Fraud & Enforcement Division. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars related to this claim belong to consumers or insurance companies related to this claim, not this contractor. Consumers are price gauged via increasing insurance rates from these types of poor unethical behaviors. Consider hiring a different contractor to perform your work. read more

Customer service is atrocious! Had a leak in the roof that they installed and was still under warranty. Person gave every excuse known to man to try and deter us from having them come out and fix it. Took them over a month to finally show up to the house. Failed to show up multiple times and when they finally showed up they were over 6 hours late Once at the house the technician said he was only allowed to look at the issue and leave. He was giving strict instructions to not do any work and to have us call someone "local" to fix the issue. Horrible company all around, would never recommend them to even my worst enemy Update to owner response This is an actual review. My mother is a customer and was screwed over by your company. Just because you get a bad review does not mean it's fake. Maybe you should learn to better your business and stand behind your warranty. I recently had exterior and interior work done due to wind damage. The full roof replacement looks great. The workers were timely and efficient. The interior work looks really good as well. I had water damage in three rooms and the contractors repaired each space. An area of suggested improvement would be the selection of additional workers chosen to assist on the job. There was a severe lack of customer service etiquette. Most of the team was pleasant, however there were a few that entered my home without knocking, saying hello or introducing themselves. My furniture was stood and sat on and while trying to locate my kitchen sink dishrag I realized after the job was complete that it had been used to wipe walls. Lastly, paint spots were left on my front porch. Regarding communication, as a first timer working with contractors, I had a lot of questions. The lead contractor Carl answered my questions and removed individuals I was dissatisfied with which I really appreciate. Gabby, the office support specialist, was also very responsive and helpful. On the other hand, the salesman, Dan was friendly and responsive in the beginning but after the contract was signed I had a tough time getting in contact with him. Overall, the work that was done met my expectations. I just didn't enjoy some of the customer service aspects of the job. Jennifer S. read more

We have had our roof replaced by Benchmark through our insurance company. They completed the work in a day and a half, and were very good about clean up and did a really good job. I was very impressed with their flashing work since we have several valleys and their work around our stone covered chimneys is great. Still waiting to see if we get new siding due to hail damage, and will post a review on that work later. read more

We had extensive hail damage to our home repaired by Benchmark Roofing on an insurance claim in October/November of 2006. They replaced the roof, 3 sides of siding, chimney cap, outside lights, etc. In early 2020 the chimney cap was leaking so I contacted them. They denied ever replacing the chimney cap because their salesman had conveniently left it off the final invoice. Dave showed up an hour and 15 minutes early for our initial appointment. I took off work early to meet him at the scheduled time and he had already been there. No call, nothing. I had two other roofing companies come to look at the chimney cap and the roof because they were denying that they had done the chimney cap work. They found other issues with the roofing on our house. Dan Dawson wouldn't return calls. Finally they fixed the chimney cap and a plumbing boot that was done incorrectly 6 months later and acted like they had done me some huge favor. Nevermind, the 15 year workmanship warranty they advertise so proudly. Nevermind, the roof on the 2 story portion of my house that they installed incorrectly per 2 other GAF Certified roofing contractors I had inspect the roof. They acted like I was trying to pull something over on them when it was discovered toward the end of the 15 year workmanship warranty that their workmanship was not so good. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend. read more

The roofers that showed up did not show up in a marked vehicle which leads me to believe that they were outsourced to do our roof. Roof was finished and now it's leaking into our basement. Even with the loss of shingles due to a wind storm the roof wasn't leaking until after it was replaced. We've been calling for a week now and have been ignored. Would not recommend to anyone, I'd give less than one star if at all possible. read more

We found a leak in our roof and our insurance company referred us to Benchmark Roofing. Initially, they came out immediately to assess the damage and put a tarp on the roof. I was expecting great service based on that. However, it was straight downhill from there. In short, it has been over a month, and they still have not scheduled an appointment to fix my roof. Every time I call, they ask me if I have a signed contract; I tell them no because I have not been presented with one. Dan, who was my contact, has failed repeatedly to provide me with a contract and to schedule the repairs. It has been almost 5 weeks. I call at least once weekly to determine the status and complain. The last call was met with the same refrain: "... I can't do much until we get a contract signed. At this point, it is with Dan to do that. I'll leave him a message". Dan has received at least 5 messages from me. Never called me back. It is spring in Columbus; it continues to rain. My roof has not been fixed, and I have no contract. No accountability. No return phone calls. No professionalism. No business. Dan is really bad at his job. read more

This company installed my roof and not even two weeks after a brand new roof was installed did I have leaks. The crew neglected to install flashing which is one of the most basic requirements when it comes to roofing. The roof has leaked for the entire 10 years that I have had it. The company refuses to put a new roof on to fix the never ending leaks and problems. The new roof leaks more than than old roof ever did. The company continues to send warranty and repair out to "band aid" the problem instead of doing the right thing and putting on a new roof. If I could rate this company a zero I would. I had initially hired another company to replace my gutters. That was a mistake because I still had leaking gutters when they were done, at least on the front of my house. A friend had just received an estimate from Terry Wright at Benchmark and suggested I call him. I am so happy I did! He took a look at the problem and explained why I still had leaking gutters and gave me a free estimate to repair the problem. The work has been done and even during these downpours of late I have no leaks. My only regret is not hiring this company in the first place! If you are looking for honesty and integrity give Benchmark roofing a call! They have done work for two other friends of mine including full roofing jobs and they were very satisfied as well! read more

Benchmark Roofing of Lewis Center, Ohio put a shingle roof on our house. Around the beginning of this year, water seeped into our ceiling and trickled down the living space side of our fireplace during a rain. I called Benchmark to check for a leak in the roof. A couple weeks later, during a hard rain, enough water came into our family room to saturate two bath towels. I covered the chimney and surrounding roof with a tarp so that we would not get water in our house when it rained again. About a month after I called Benchmark, I went to their office. The secretary said that because of icy conditions, no one from the company was able to check our roof. It was about another month before someone from Benchmark came to check our roof. According to Columbus Climate Graphs put out by the National Weather Service, the first two months of the year were mild and wet, not conditions that would make roofs icy much of the time. The Benchmark inspector looked at the chimney and roof. He said the chimney was leaking, not the roof. In addition, he said the warranty was void because I put nails in the roof. To hold the tarp down, I nailed three narrow strips of wood to the roof, with two nails in each. It took about another month to find a contractor to diagnose the problem and give an estimate. His opinion was that the chimney needed to be repaired but that in similar situations, many times an area near the chimney leaked. The estimate was priced to show the cost of repairing the chimney, with a separate estimate to repair the roof near the chimney. We agreed to the repairs and waited about six weeks for the work to be done. When the repair was actually done the repairman said the chimney leaked, and the roof also leaked. There was a hole in the roof at the corner of the chimney, near the peak of the roof, that let water run along the chimney and seep into our house. A trail left by the water was visible. I asked Benchmark to pay for the cost of repairs to the roof and received no response. Even though there was a leak in the roof due to faulty workmanship and/or materials, Benchmark will not pay that cost and is legally shielded as a result of nails in the roof. If I had not put up that tarp, the inside of our house would have been soaked a dozen or more times. The nails were far enough away from the leak that they did not contribute to the leak. The hole from each nail was easily repaired with a swipe of roof cement. After this experience, I would label Benchmark an unethical company. Find an ethical company to do your roof work. read more

We had damage to our roof from one of the storms last year. We called Benchmark to take a look at the roof and they came out timely to assess the damage. They were very helpful and guided us through filing a claim with our insurance company and dealt with them every step of the way while keeping us in the loop. They completed all the work on schedule and were attentive to details. read more
