The Premier Inn is best described as the least unspectacular hotel in a town full of unspectacular hotels. Not a ringing endorsement to be sure, but after 5 different stays I feel compelled to write about the oddities.
On one of my stays I checked in to a room with no towels. On the next, I checked in to a room with a toilet full of piss, including some on the seat. They've improved the TV service since the first time I stayed here, but the internet is unreliable at best. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if internet is critical you should look elsewhere. I pay extra for the premium internet and it routinely cuts out every 15-20 minutes, for a period lasting 2-5 minutes. I have complained about it on my last two stays, but nothing has been done.
The breakfast is a step above prison grade but not quite at the level of say, a Marriott Courtyard in the US. I haven't eaten dinner here, but I the sign in the elevator suggesting you make a reservation is worthy of a laugh as it is totally unnecessary - I've never seen more than a handful of people in the restaurant. The reservation is probably so they know to defrost the food for you a bit earlier.
There are no phones in the room and finding the number to the front desk anywhere on the internet is near impossible, so you will have to walk down there to complain about the internet: ProTip - don't bother, no one down will do anything about it, including calling Virgin, their provider.
All of this aside, the Premier Inn is still my go to choice. It is the cleanest most conveniently located hotel in Maidenhead and despite the frustrations above, it delivers value for your money. read more
