I work in the healthcare industry, and I'm aware and supportive of the fact that a $100-$200…read morecancellation fee is standard when a patient cancels too close to the date of a procedure. Requiring 1-2 weeks advance notice (or in rarer cases, up to 1 month) helps protect providers by making patients think twice about no-showing or canceling last minute without a good reason. So when something unexpected happened in my life, and I had to postpone my procedure a full FIVE WEEKS in advance, I was expecting the office staff might say something like, "Thanks for the heads up this far in advance. We hope everything is ok. Please let us know when you'd like to reschedule". Instead, 3 days later I received a $250 (!!) cancellation fee. When I called to see if it was a mistake, I was told they have a 45 day (!!) cancellation policy. I explained that my mind was swimming the day I signed the surgery form, having just made the decision to have surgery. I wasn't focused on scouring the fine print for potential "gotcha" terms. I also explained that I could find no mention of it on any of the signed paperwork that they shared with me. I then asked (two different staff members) if they'd consider waiving the fee. Their response was something along the lines of, "You signed the paperwork, you agreed to the terms". I told them that I liked my doctor and that I wanted to remain a patient here, but that they'd likely lose me if they couldn't offer me this one-time courtesy. "We can't do that. We have your signature. That's just the way things work. Goodbye sir". It's unfortunate because this is a case where the best ethical decision would also have been the best business decision. Even if they didn't want to do the right thing for the patient, they could have done right for the practice (by preserving the revenue from my surgery, my follow up appts, orthotics, family/friend referrals, etc.). All they needed to do was correct an objectively questionable, poorly communicated policy.

Dr. Erfle is the best! He recently performed bunion surgery on my daughter and was so professional…read moreand straight forward and just so nice throughout the whole process. My poor daughter has to get her other foot done as well and we will most definitely be going back to Dr. Erfle. We both highly recommend him.

Service: I checked in online, so once I arrived, I was seated quickly. The wait time in the room wasn't bad. P.A. Ranalli is good. He took the time to explain my care plan. Always kind and cares about my issues. Overall, this location was good, but I will only come back if I can't get an appointment closer to home.

Horrible service. It took eight phone calls over 5.25 hours between Penn Orthopedics and the MRI…read moreprovider, which is part of their system but not integrated, to schedule an MRI. By the time they stopped playing around, the next available appointment was an additional six days out from what was available at my first call. That was better than the other Penn Medicine MRI providers, which were six weeks out. There are a limited number of MRI providers in the area. This one is related to them, yet their schedulers don't have basic information about it - including the fax number. How does that make sense? And when they had all that information, it took them hours to fax it. I had to keep calling to check on it, and tell the MRI provider finally called them, which was the ninth phone call to schedule one MRI. After scheduling the MRI, I called to schedule the follow up. That was pushed out to the earliest being a week I'm away, and they wouldn't let me see any other doctor. The doctor I saw did absolutely nothing but order an MRI, there's no reason I need to see him again, but apparently that's their policy. Because patients absolutely do not come first at Penn Medicine.

One of the worst medical experiences I've had. Dr. Odgers was rude, dismissive, and patronizing…read morethroughout my care. My pain, functional limitations, and need to return to a physical job did not seem to matter. Requests for PT were denied or delayed, which prolonged my recovery. I eventually left the practice and sought care at Rothman, where I was started in PT immediately and improved significantly. In my opinion, his handling of my case cost me valuable recovery time. I would not recommend him.

Might be the single WORST doctor experience I've had. Went to Odgers and was diagnosed with a torn…read morerotator cuff. When I started to ask questions he immediately cut me off and the only thing he would offer is PT. When I asked about receiving a shot ? Immediately cut me off. I suspect he had an issue with my age (70), and wanted nothing to do with me. He was rude, arrogant, and condescending. I took my MRI and found an excellent doctor in the Main Line Health system, who read my MRI, and had a lengthy discussion about my options for treatment. He sent me home and asked me to read up on methods of treatment and asked me to come back in a month. When I returned we had another long discussion, and he answered all questions I had. We collaboratively decided to proceed with the surgery. I'm 4 months post op and couldn't be happier with the results. My opinion.......AVOID Odgers at all cost and seek advice elsewhere.
