That is why this review is 3 stars! For them alone I WISH I could give this place 5. However, as I was leaving my follow up the receptionists laughed at me like they were annoyed at me. One of them scoffed and the other kept making faces the entire time I was trying to schedule an appointment. Again, I am just a person trying to navigate a workers comp claim and majority of people I've interacted with during this process have been kind and understanding, some have done nothing but left me in tears and not wanting to contact the office for any questions. It costs nothing to be nice. ------------------ Dr. Charles was super nice however, the person I've spoked to both times on the phone for my workers comp claim has been unhelpful and argumentative when I was trying to update some paperwork so that I could be paid through my company for my missed work due to my injury and when I was trying to make the initial appointment and give them my information for an appointment.When making the appointment she seemed mad at me the entire time. I've never had to do a workers comp claim this extensive before so I was confused. The tone in her voice made the conversation rough, but I brushed it off. Then, when I was trying to change the paperwork from 'can't return to work' to 'light duty' so I could watch videos at home for light duty and get paid through my company and not have to go through workers comp insurance she refused to help me. Even once I explained that light duty is only videos at home. She kept repeating 'why would the doctor do that' and said she would have him contact me to discuss it further but after looking up my file she said "it said can't return to work he isn't going to change it." I believe she refused to make a note on file for him to contact me due to that. I believe her name is Melinda. She is who I have had the unfortunate privilege to speak to everytime I've had to contact the doctors office. I now have anxiety every time I have to call her due to how she has treated me over a workers comp claim. I ended up in tears after the conversation and besides my follow-up appointments I refuse to do PT in that office and had to find a different PT office elsewhere. Also has been over a week since my appointment and I still haven't recieved my cold therapy unit!

Horrible service. It took eight phone calls over 5.25 hours between Penn Orthopedics and the MRI…read moreprovider, which is part of their system but not integrated, to schedule an MRI. By the time they stopped playing around, the next available appointment was an additional six days out from what was available at my first call. That was better than the other Penn Medicine MRI providers, which were six weeks out. There are a limited number of MRI providers in the area. This one is related to them, yet their schedulers don't have basic information about it - including the fax number. How does that make sense? And when they had all that information, it took them hours to fax it. I had to keep calling to check on it, and tell the MRI provider finally called them, which was the ninth phone call to schedule one MRI. After scheduling the MRI, I called to schedule the follow up. That was pushed out to the earliest being a week I'm away, and they wouldn't let me see any other doctor. The doctor I saw did absolutely nothing but order an MRI, there's no reason I need to see him again, but apparently that's their policy. Because patients absolutely do not come first at Penn Medicine.

There was no explanation offered and the doctor didn't so much as apologize or acknowledge it any way. And to add insult to injury, he was antagonistic about my issue which totally caught me off guard. I won't be going back. Doctors need to realize that in the world of online ratings and access to more medical information than ever, they have become relegated to the level of online shopping. Patients do their due diligence in finding a surgeon not much differently than they find a tradesman. Customer service and ratings from patients swing decisions to make appointments more and more each year. And at that lengthy a delay, the front desk should have been calling patients saying there'd be such a significant delay and asking people if they wanted to reschedule. This would help the patients and possibly open some holes in the schedule to put the doctor back on track with remaining patients. The only reason a doctor wouldn't have this as a standard is the quest for the almighty dollar. Because his day went to heck in a handbasket, so then did mine. Missed meetings for work, had to cancel plans in the evening to catch up on the job. Thoughtless. Arrogant. Rude. When you treat your clients with such disrespect in the consultation room, why in the world would you expect us to think you'd treat us any differently in the operating suite?

I scheduled an appointment first thing in the morning, so I wouldn't have to wait long and could get in to work early. Somehow, I sat in the waiting room for over an hour. While waiting, a lady came in and I overheard the employee tell her that she had mixed up the days, and that her appointment was actually the next day. I didn't think much of it until the asked her to take a seat, and then called her back to see the doctor before me!! I couldn't believe it. Flash forward three years to yesterday... I had to have my back looked at. I figured I would give them another shot because my family doctor recommended them. TERRIBLE idea. I had a 2:40 appointment and arrived at 2:30. To make a long story short, I sat in the waiting room until 3:35 before getting called back to the smaller waiting room. *I had dinner plans for my dad's birthday at 5 PM and was beginning to get antsy because I knew I would now be late. At around 3:50, I heard the doctor walk in to another room, and I decided at that point I had to leave. I, then, left the waiting room and stopped by the front desk. I am very non-confrontational, so I politely told the employee what had happened, and that I had to leave. She looked at me like I was a jerk and said "hold on." She walked down the hallway and I heard her explain the situation to the doctor. Finally, she walked back towards me and said "you can go." No apology, no acknowledgment, and she was very rude. I will not be hoping the third time is the charm with this place. Like I said, TERRIBLE. Bad planning and rude employees. I never got to see the doctor, so I couldn't even tell you if he is a decent guy.

I eventually left the practice and sought care at Rothman, where I was started in PT immediately and improved significantly. In my opinion, his handling of my case cost me valuable recovery time. He sent me home and asked me to read up on methods of treatment and asked me to come back in a month. When I returned we had another long discussion, and he answered all questions I had. We collaboratively decided to proceed with the surgery. I'm 4 months post op and couldn't be happier with the results. My opinion.......AVOID Odgers at all cost and seek advice elsewhere.
