But i think as i baby the service was pretty good i think. Ambiance is fine i guess but lonely and quiet. I didnt get food but my mum loved food such as meat and stuff there. I dont remember too much of my experience there as a baby. All i know is that my mum enjoyed it there.

Still, they have a good selection here of lamb, matured beef, pork and chicken and competitive prices. They also charmingly have against the back wall, various accompaniments and other bits and bobs that you might need. On top of this, they do have a bit of a roaring lunch trade - lots of muffins with anything you want on, burgers and kebabs and in their hot counter they also have home made chilli, cottage pie and potato pie. Lords of Middleton is a family butchers in my hometown of Middleton, in Greater Manchester, it is a…read moresmall butchers which has been in the town for generations, as I recall this was even here when Queen Victoria was Queen of England, which certainly is a long time ago as since then we've seen the longest serving monarch die and get another King (well four of them), and then his replacement become the new longest serving monarch in this country. This butchers is quite nice and for me stands out in terms of quality, although inside it feels a little small and squashed they do have a good selection of meat from cooked meat to chicken to sausages. They do also have gluten free sausages which they make on request, they are quite nice and it tastes like a good sausage in terms of quality, with a lack of fat too. One of my main issues here is the price, it is expensive but still you have got to pay that for the quality, but still I can't help but feel some items are a little pricey. The gluten free sausages are some of the best I've had, I normally ask for mine with extra herbs and black pepper, and they both taste and look fresh, with gluten free food normally not taking as nice, Lords do it on a whole new level to make it seem like a sausage which did contain gluten, but they are gluten free. The location is decent, yet it is slightly hidden towards the back/end of Middleton Gardens, opposite Wetherspoons in such a small spot, perhaps a bigger place to allow more customers to move about and to show their great range of products in a better manner might be something Lords should look to in the future. I'm struggling rating this place, on one hand I want to give a high rating as they probably do the best gluten free sausages I have tasted, but on another I feel certain issues with the room inside the shop and pricing mean it deserves a slightly lower rating, and because of this I feel Lords of Middleton for now deserve a very high three star rating, but I hope to move towards a four in the near future

We didn't sample the cafe but it was doing brisk business on a Saturday lunchtime and lots of the people were clearly regulars. The standout feature of our visit had to be the staff. Even though we were only getting a very small order, they incredibly attentive - taking time to explain the options, asking how we wanted things packing, offering to tweak the temperature of the calzone better to our suiting.

The bar staff and manager were really friendly and also nice to each other, which gave an overall very positive impression of how the Clarence is run. Upstairs in the attractive restaurant area we were seated by the window and were quickly approached for our drinks order by the server who was brilliant throughout the meal. She was very pleasant and efficient and gave me helpful advice on what to order. We started with the generous-sized black pudding and leek croquettes with a pear and porter sauce which bf loved. Next up I had the roe deer and bf had strip steak. Bf extremely happy with the steak and also commented that the chips were "American standard." I ate most of his perfectly cooked greens. My own dish was really interesting - it was cooked perfectly and also featured a little pie which I was not expecting! The menu has many good points. It's varied both in type of dish and price, so you can come for a special occasion or weekday dinner. It features local elements like the Bury black pudding. It has a good range of steaks. And it has more unusual dishes like the roe deer, venison in my experience being comparatively rare on Manchester menus. Drinks-wise, we enjoyed the light Sauvignon Blanc rose and some kind of delicious port-like dessert wine which was basically like drinking raisins without the plastic aftertaste. Unfortunately we did not get to sample the cocktail bar as it is only open Fridays and Saturdays but bf says it is v nice and if you dine you can normally get in for drinks, even though it's otherwise members only (£250 a year). Will have to return for that, and also for the great-sounding Sunday lunch! Overall well worth a little excursion to Bury and a no-brainer if you're in the area. Only word of caution is that there may not be a lot of choice for vegetarians, so check menu on website before you go.

The best Sunday Roast in North Manchester!!…read more Such a lovely pub, it's hard to believe that i've lived a few miles from here all my life and have never tried it. Downstairs is a traditional pub and a few tables. I can imagine it gets very busy at the weekend. The restaurant, upstairs, is lovely and very large. After looking at the menu, it was clear that the sunday roast was going to be the winner, so i opted for the beef Sunday roast with yorkshire pudding and all the veg! We also ordered cauliflower cheese on the side as an extra. Overall i couldn't fault the meal. It was excellent and the service was impeccable too!

The best Patissier and Chocolatier in North Manchester…read more Any time I drive into Manchester (which is very often) I have to drive past Slattery's and always manage to make some excuse to pop in. I shouldn't have to make an excuse to go here - It's excellent. The ground floor is their outstanding chocolate and cake shop - definitely worth spending some time here tasting and choosing what they have on offer. Their selection of over 40 celebration cakes on display are stunning - you'll find yourself staring at them like some sort of art. A few of the wedding cakes are pushing £1,000.. asking if it would be worth it? For me, yes! Their cakes are amazing - no wonder Wayne Rooney bought his wedding cake from here and had it shipped to Italy. You'll find me with my face pressed up against the viewing window where you can watch the cake decorators working hard to perfect these masterpieces *drool* I'm certainly not planning my wedding or anything but I already know that there's a massive possibility that my cake will be from here. On the first floor is an elegant restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and of course CAKE. The menu is fab and I haven't heard anybody mention a bad word about it. I have yet to visit the restaurant and I hear that unless you book weeks in advance you've no chance of getting in, but this only makes me want to try it even more and it is certainly on my list. In the past I have bought baskets from here and made my own hampers, mainly for family or friends at Christmas time - consisting of chocolates, hand make cakes, biscuits, marmalades, wines etc (all locally sourced). Safe to say these always go down well. If you have a sweet tooth, this is somewhere you should definitely visit.
