For the self walking tour the have over 50 Christmas trees decorated as are the various bedrooms, living rooms, ballrooms, etc...There are plenty of guides that can give you history and stories of the original owners and how this estate came to be. The tour 1 hour tour was nice but a bit pricey at $25 each and they did not honor the senior discount on the day we went. Still, a nice walk through.

You start off your tour by meeting outside the hotel. nowhere on the website is stated where you need to meet so there's a bunch of people standing around waiting for a tour guide that has no name tag or identification to let you know that they are part of this business. They say on the website that you will be giving equipment to tell if the place has a spiritual presence. The (equipment) was two bent copper hangers supposably supposed to move out when there is a spirit present. Which by the way they did not even have enough for the whole group. You walk around the streets of Detroit for two miles and visit various locations such as the Guardian building, a park, the spirit of Detroit statue, and are given a short history lesson... mean while bums come up to you and ask to borrow a cigarette or some spare change...we even had a saxophone player follow us around so you couldn't even hear the to work at and of course he wanted everyone to change is well... oh did I mention you do not even go inside any buildings!!!!!!! but the Guardian building. So you walk around for 2 miles freezing and listening to somebody reading history someone told them off of an index card I would not do the tour if it was free and next time I'm bringing my C.P DONT WASTE UR TIME!

Our tour guide, Joe, was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about both the history of the station and the city itself. He shared a great mix of historical information, restoration details, and stories that made the experience even more memorable.
