I've been on a private river "cruise" on one of the DIamond Jack boats twice now. They're a fun event, but the boats could really use a little bit of an upgrade. They are OLD and I don't think any upgrades have been made in well over 50 years. It wouldn't take much to spruce them up a little bit. All things aside, the Detroit River still provides some amazing views. It's pretty amazing how close the boats get to hitting the Belle Isle bridge when they pass under it. As you're approaching, it looks as if the boat is going to hit the bridge. Makes for a bit of a thrill. From reading other reviews on here, it appears they do historical tours. I'd love to give one of these a try next summer! read more

My parents go on this tour every year, and I finally joined them. It was gorgeous; I've never appreciated the Detroit River as much as I did today. You leave from Wyandotte and pass through Ecorse toward Detroit, passing a lot of industrial sites, turning around at the Ambassador Bridge. It took an hour and a half one way and 45 mins to get home. Because the way back was faster, it was more enjoyable and breezy. My family said there's normally more narration, but on this particular ride there wasn't much, and I appreciated the quiet on the peaceful water. So, not super entertaining, but the beauty is really all you need. It was a nice change of pace and something new to do. The boat itself is clean. The uncovered top deck is first come, first serve, so waiting in line is worth it. Even with the rain today, the deck was fun! I think $20 is a little steep, but we found a coupon on their website for $15 on Fridays. Definitely take advantage of that! read more

What a beautiful day and the tour near old Bob-Lo was just a delight to see a child hood memory of yesteryear. When I seen the needle and dock memories flooded my mind and made me so happy . The only negative thing is we were the 4th there to be in line. When time came to board at least 45 people rushed to get in front of us on all sides. No both to get tickets earlier or online tickets. The bathroom onboard was very clean. Water $2.50 for real? Same price as the beer!!!!! Not allowed to bring own snacks or water. Otherwise I loved it. read more

I took a cruise on the DIamond Jack starting from the dock at Joseph Compeau downtown. It was a beautiful summer night -- I mean, PERFECT weather. I went with a group that charged $10, but I'm not sure if that was an upcharge or not. I believe the Diamond Jack is even less than that for a tour. It lasted almost, if not 2 hours and was very enjoyable. The downside is the restroom -- good luck with that. Also, the upper edges of the boat could be dusted for cobwebs and maybe some better bumblebee protection on board (i.e. strips or something... if they exist for bees). Other than that, the experience was fabulous! read more

Loved the tour. Went along the US shore with a great view of Detroit, then turned around and explored the Canadian side. Learned a few interesting bits of Detroit history, all while enjoying time on the river. read more

Took the Tour today, August 24, 2019. Wyandotte 1pm Tour. After reading all the reviews here, I guess my expectations were too high. When boarding the boat, there was an older crew member directing the flow of passengers boarding. Being our first time on this tour my husband wasn't sure of the process, so he showed him a discount coupon we captured from their website, and the crewman said, in a rather curt tone of voice " Why are you showing me that, its no good." There was no reason for him to be rude. Anyways, we board the boat, and it is nice. We sat top front. There was another crew member, older gentlemen that stood in the front before pulling from dock. He said he was a volunteer, made a few jokes. Very hard to hear and understand him. He did not use a microphone to speak through. If you were sitting in the last row you would not have heard a word from him. The weather was perfect for being out on the water! And that was the best part of the tour. Very short information on the sights as we headed out to the Ambassador Bridge. And next to nothing on the way back to the dock. Granted, there really is not much to point out- scenic wise, but music would have been nice to fill the silence since the tour lacked any form of banter from the tour guide speaking. Again, expectations too high from the reviews, or maybe I expected too much for a slow boat tour. I would not recommend, nor take a tour again. read more
