The inside space is nice, featuring a mix of four- to six-seat tables and communal-style seating. It was very cold when we visited, but the outdoor area looks amazing--they have a stage and fire pits. They also offer a great-looking menu. We split a flight. **Calvin Creamridge** is an easy-drinking, refreshing ale. **Michigan Fake Brews**, a coffee blonde, is one of my husband's favorites--he's always excited when breweries offer this style. Stopped in here on a whim after a school event for our kids with some friends. The atmosphere was great, the kids were able to do minigolf the whole time we were there, and the food and service were great. Definitely worth a look. read more

Stopped in here super last minute cuz we ran an errand in town. Happy to see a sour on their menu and it was good! I got the Sherbert Hoover Orange Creamsicle. We got cheese curds (delish) and two burgers: The Olive Office and the bourbon burger. I loved the Olive spread and the patties were great. Only note would be more crispy onions on the bourbon burger. The star was definitely our waitress Vanessa. She was so nice, had impeccable timing when it came to making sure we were good with everything, and worked well with the food runner to make sure we got everything quick and correctly. read more

We visited on a Friday evening when the weather was nice enough to eat outside. I think the kitchen was a little backed up - it took a while for our food to arrive. These things can happen, but it might help to encourage staff to mention this to folks who order food so expectations are clear. We also noticed there's no system to help the runner find the outdoor table where the food should go. Poor guy was not set up for success and had to walk all over the place to get the food to the right people. A system that pairs a table with a number might resolve this really easily. Food was tasty. Beers were great and we really got a laugh from the creative names y'all use. Staff we met were thoughtful and had great energy. I'd definitely recommend, but on a busy night you may have a bit of a wait for food. read more

The pizzas that we ordered were very good. The one hitch that I had was placing my order through their website. It seemed like the order went through, when I went to pick up the pizzas they had no record of my order. So I had to wait for the pizzas to be made. They did give me a sample of two of their beers while I waited. The beer was very good also. We will be ordering from them again. read more

Good selection of beers to choose from. The staff were nice but hospitable. But not the most attentive staff, but that just because they were super busy the day we came. The food though is your typical bar food, but not very memorable. They have both seating inside and outside and even have mini golf for people to play. Beers and food are good. Employees can use a course in communication. I had never been to this brewery. Upon arrival we found out a band was playing. We sat at a table with no signage, bought a ticket to the show, talked to 3 employees and not a single one mentioned we were at a VIP table that was reserved. One of the employees even dropped off a card with menu and a space for who the table was reserved for (which was blank). In the middle of our pizza a rude woman just told us we had to leave as the reserved party arrived. Not upset the table was reserved was upset NO ONE could tell us this in the 1.5 hours we were there. We bought 2 $10 wrist bands so they knew we did not reserve the table. I'm happy to follow rules I'm told. Their team had multiple opportunities to tell us in advance of the rules or put down a reserved sign and we would have happily complied when the reservers arrived. Very disappointing and embarrassing but I guess that puts them directly on brand. read more

Being a military child, I really loved the "Buy a Veteran a Beer" wall and program they have set up along with their funny Obama and Trump stand up boards that Ben of course had to play with. The service was friendly and talked about the brewery with us while we had a flight of their Patrioatic, Hoppy Harrison, Sherbert Hoover: Strawberry, Sherbert Hoover: Blueberry, and Across the Aisle. Fantastic atmosphere! We came in on a Sunday and this place was lively. They had a drinking craft class going on with an occasional sing-a-long. The beer selection is also fantastic. First of all 4 of 5 really enjoyed our food! 2nd the service and wait times were horrible! I don't know if they were short staffed or not but it started off super slow, like it took at least 10-15 minutes to clean a table for our party of 5. After being seated it didn't seem like anything was a priority. This is why I think they might have been short staffed. We all loved the Lakes of Hot Honey Pizza, and both parties who ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sammy really liked it A LOT! There were 2 that ordered the Maui Chicken Rice Bowl and one didn't like it at all and the other enjoyed it but said they have had better rice bowls. So as long as you have time and don't mind slow service this is a good option. We saw several people playing card games while waiting for service. (I don't know if the restaurant had them to use or if people brought them). We were there on December 5th, 2024 so we couldn't enjoy their outdoor area but I will comeback and try this restaurant again during warmer months when their outdoor eating area are open. A well earned 5 stars for this unique brewery! I have been wanting to come here for several years but finally got the opportunity. Sometimes the build up leads to disappointment, but not this place. I was surprised to see so many children in the area and the. Realized that they also ran the Putt Putt golf course next door. When you walk in, there is so much to see that you don't know where to look first! They did a great job creating a cool atmosphere and keeping everything within the theme. The bartender was very helpful. When I noticed the Dill Clinton beer, I wasn't really sure at first. I love pickles. And I love beer. But I wasn't sure about the combo. The bartender encouraged me to get it and this may be my new favorite thing. It was such a delicious mix and super refreshing! I didn't eat any of the food but it did look delicious! They have these cut outs of the presidents scattered throughout the brewery, but the bartender said they get stolen a lot (how do you sneak out with a life size cut out?) Or have been vandalized. What a shame. I would have loved a pic with Barack or Bill. This was a fun place and very unique. I definitely plan on coming back when I'm in town again. read more

There are some pretty nice touches here: All of the beers we had on a recent visit were fantastic (particularly the brown and the sour, named after Biden and Eleanor Roosevelt, respectively). We love that they have a buy-a-vet-a-beer wall where patrons can purchase a beer tag that members (or former members) of the military can trade in for a beer. The pizzas are legit (particularly the one with Brussels sprouts and goat cheese), and I'm a sucker for the ice cream bars they carry (Ice Box brand in minis for $2 or full sized for $5). A couple other nice touches: They've got a trade-a-puzzle pile where you can bring in a puzzle from home that you've already completed and swap it out for one from there, and they also carry a small selection of board games. They also have complimentary tampons in the women's bathroom, which I always appreciate. read more

I won't say it's a hole in the wall, but it's kind of a whole in the wall just before the sticks in Portage. The dimly light, low ceilinged interior initially confirms it's a hole in the wall, but it's spacious and hospital clean. Unexpectedly busy on a weekday early afternoon, staff was gregariously harried. The menu is tater-tot centric; always a good sign. Beer is offered in flights, and I got the Partioatic (smooth), the Nitro Obama (not sure about the sudden "nitro" everything craze, but that's a deep, mellow brew), and Aaron Burr Sir(veza), snappy and clearn. My wife's favorite cider is now the Barbara Bushells. Beer Chili warmed our palates with a just a hint of sweetness. Another amazing fried chicken sandwich - True To Your Heart: Gochugaru dusted buttermilk chicken topped with Cri Kee slaw. The interesting menu name trend continues from Kent County down into Kalamazoo County. The Cowboy Tots are everything good in the world: bacon, BBQ, cheese curds, tots & haystack onions. It comes in a personal cast iron pan, and is just right; a larger portion would be too rich, I think. Maybe I wouldn't, if I were younger. Generous parking, and if nice weather every returns, I think you could do 9 on the mini golf course then hit the brews. read more

Fun little unassuming brewery with lots of great food and drink specials. My first time here happened to be their Presidents Day Celebration party, on a Monday, and it was packed at lunch. We were greeted by the owner and he and the rest of the staff were super nice and helpful. They played live music eventually and it was nice acoustic covers. Also, overtime, more and more families including those with babies and small children arrived. It was loud, but it definitely wasn't intolerable. The baby in our party had a great time and loved the music. The beer was good and the food was good as well, but not a lot of selection. Another cool feature was their option to buy veterans a beer, which we did, so when a vet arrives they can have a beer for free. You can even write your own message on the tag. Presidential brewery is such a great spot to try creative craft beer & delicious food! My husband and I came here for a nice weekend lunch and we quickly remembered how much we love it here. They have a wide range of beer on tap so everyone is bound to find something they like. I had the Shandrew Jackson (sour beer + lemonade) and my husband had the write in ballot: Zappa (IPA). We shared the gouda mac & cheese bites and a pickle pizza & both exceeded our expectations. The mac and cheese bites were sooo creamy and cheesy, and our pickle pizza was loaded with fresh dill flavor and cheese on a delicious hand tossed crust. Christine greeted me warmly and gave great drink suggestions, as well as suggestions for other local businesses to visit. I enjoyed my Sherbet Hoover & Shandrew Jackson by the fire pit. Owners are wonderfully committed people. The entertainment there is good. Outdoor venues for concerts in summer with the putt-putt golf course insures there is usually something to do or listen to. Presidential Brewing Company opened earlier this week, so we went to check it out for lunch today. Jake and Kayleigh greeted us at the door. We got there shortly after they opened, and they weren't busy yet. Our toddler loved the play area and made some friends. There are a mix of communal tables and two- and four- tops. Service was friendly and prompt: we ordered the Oatbama Stout and Calvin Creamidge, the mac & cheese with pork, the veggie panini, and the kids meal chicken strips. I loved my stout and mac & cheese. We were super impressed: we went in expecting them to still be getting their sea legs, but the service was seamless. Jake sat down for a couple of minutes to talk about the Electoral College (their mug club), their plans for expansion, and how the first week has been. So starting off - I visited when this was less than a week old. I feel almost like a review so soon is unfair! You walk in and it's very loud, and has very long communal style tables. I liked this- although it did seem a little cafeteria-like. There were only 5 beers on tap when I went because the other 2 were already tapped out from opening week. I decided on a flight of the four main ones to see what they were capable of brewing. The waitress was great and brought out our flights right away! It did take her a few times to bring waters though... There is a kids play area in the corner so it was wonderful that my kids could go play and ya adults could enjoy our beers sans kids! There were cards on every table and a few other card games scattered through the place. Lots of presidential photos and American Flags appeared all over. To eat I decided on one kids meal for my two sons to split. It was $8 for chicken strips, so I figured that's pretty steep it should be a big portion. I was disappointed to find that the kids meal consisted of 2 chicken strips, a handful of tots, side of applesauce and a small chocolate chip cookie (which was fresh). For $8 I for sure expected more. For myself I decided to try their loaded tots. I got the Reuben which promised to be a hefty heaping basket of carby goodness. It was $14. I was hugely disappointed with the "heaping"ness of my tots. It was one solid row of tots covered with delicious corned beef, sauerkraut , cheese and thousand island. Did it taste good? Well it could have been a lot hotter, but yes It did taste great. Butttt I was not impressed by the quantity for $14. It was more like a $8 dish to me. My husband got a burger sans the bun and it was also lukewarm and a small burger. Not sure what size it was, but I think he ate it in like 4 bites and that was $10. I loved their "Buy a Veteran a Beer" Wall. If you'd like, you pay $4.75 to your tab and can write a note on a tag which then hangs on the wall. Then anytime a Veteran comes in- they can go redeem one of those notes for a beer which costs them nothing. How wonderful is this!!! In my honest opinion, the brewery has a few kinks to work out, for me temperature of the food and the time for food to table service. Also, I'm not happy with their prices. If they want to keep high prices ok, but the food needs to be amped up to equate the high price. As it is new, I'll try it again since I did love the beer! read more

Oh man what an experience. My husband and I walked in to meet friends for dinner. The second I walked in I said in my head "what in the world" it felt like a middle school cafeteria. Super open and odd. I was just uncomfortable. Why I have no clue. We sat down at a long picnic table, seat unsteady. It took the waitress a good 15-20 minutes to come over and ask us what we would like for drinks. She finally did. Looked at the unbelievably small menu. I picked the pulled pork. We all waited for about 20-30 minutes for her to come back and take our order, by this time I wanted to leave. Finally she comes over and takes our order. This is where it gets ridiculous, from the time we ordered until we got our food, it was 45 minutes. If not an hour. The food comes and you can tell 2 of the 4 plates are cold. My friends got tots topped with their choice and I got the pulled pork and tots, hubby got a burger topped with the pulled pork and a side of chips. I am dead serious when I say my husbands chips were the only thing I would have eaten. Tots tasted old, cold and stale. The pulled pork was soggy, bitter and I didn't eat it at all. My husband had a huge bite of his burger and didn't look pleased. We waited that long for cold and stale food that tasted bad. No one was happy. The cook came over and made it right, they took everything off the bill. Gave us each (couple) $25 gift cards. I was so looking forward to trying this place. I will go back and give it a second chance. I have heard good things about it but this night was just bad. They did have a great thing, you can purchase a little wooden chip for a veteran to buy them a beer, they come in pick a chip and get a drink purchased for them! read more

New to the area and was looking for a place for dinner with unique beers and family friendly. I checked the local brew houses online and found this place. The kids menu was the best that I've seen for such a place. When we walked in and they actually had a "kids zone" I was sold (as was our 5 year old). Great all around atmosphere. Large selection of their own beers. Food was good and the kids Mac n cheese was great for our picky eater. As far as the standard side, potato chips, not my favorite but still not a bad choice. I was pleasantly surprised I liked Presidential Brewing Co. I'm not a fan of craft beer but I did like their Patriotic, which is a lighter Oatmeal Blonde. On top of liking the beer, I took a risk and ordered something I've been intrigued about and have never tried before - a pickle pizza. It was so good. The brininess of the pickles and the smoky bacon made a great combination. Being a live music fan, I really enjoyed the piano/singer. It was a fun night and I'm sure I'll be back. read more
