Boy, has Presotea outdone themselves in the recent years. When I first tried Presotea two or three years ago, it didn't stand out to me among many of its competitors around this neighbourhood. But now, I am pleasantly surprised to find Presotea my favourite milk tea/ bubble tea place in Toronto, mainly because of their amazing new menus. The game changer was the Four Seasons Milk Tea. It was unlike any milk tea I've tasted. Faintly sweet, amazingly fragrant, and heavenly creamy. I can't go back to the normal milk tea after this. The topping is jelly boba, so good as well. Chewy, fruity, and not overhwhelmingly sweet. I ordered this at 50% sweet the second time, but it didn't taste sweet enough so I will keep ordering this tea at normal sugar. For reference, I usually order 25 to 30% sugar at other locations, but the Four Seasons Milk Tea at full sugar was really pleasant for me. Today I was going back for the four seasons milk tea, but they seemed to have a new Salted Foam Genmaicha Milk Tea. I felt adventurous and went for that, and I am so happy with my choice. Upon my first sip, my mouth was filled with the wholesome fragrance of Genmaicha (roasted rice tea) and it tasted so legit!! The fragrance is different from the Four Seasons and Earl Grey that it's more wheaty and wholebodied. The fragrance of the roasted grains and the creaminess of the milk was like heaven in my mouth. I ordered at 100% sugar, and next time I feel like I would enjoy 80% sweetness (I only like faintly sweet), but I think if you generally enjoy sweet drinks, you should go for 100. At 100%, it was not overwhelmingly sweet or anything, but slightly sweeter than Four Seasons. The foam was a little bit too salty though. They have a deal for 2 teas for 8.99 right now with four flavours, and one of them is Genmaicha milk tea with white tapioca. I will definitely try that out! The only fault is they open from 12 pm on weekends.... I want to have them for breakfast lol. Also, I feel like it's pricier than competitors, but their tea is fragrant and flavourful. Also their regular size is HUGE it's like a large at other locations, so price makes sense. Other reviews mention this place is sweeter than other bubble tea places but I think it's the opposite... I order 25 to 30% sugar at other locations but this place I'm ordering normal sugar. Guess depends on your teas. Other drinks I tried before I met my soulmateas (the two above): Earl grey and panda milk tea - it's alright, but didn't stand out. Presotea is a convenient place for certain milk teas and fruit teas. Their sugar levels tend to be on the sweeter size, so I recommend to get either 30%-50% sugar level. This Sheppard location only has regular or large sizes. If you have membership, 10 points = one free small size. My drink recommendations are: 1. Passion fruit lime aloe Vera basil seed (Cold): best non milk tea. Very refreshing with big size aloe to chew from. Very refreshing with big size aloe jellies (nail size) to chew from. I usually get it with light ice to get more flavour instead of drinking diluted iced juice. 2. Royal Earl Grey Milk Tea (Hot or Cold): milky taste is smooth and not too overwhelming. You can taste the earl grey tea mixed in with the creamy milk. I recommend choosing below 50% sugar level. 3. Panda Milk Tea: this is the best deal to get a combo of pearl toppings. The panda refers to the black and white pearls. If you eat them individually, they actually taste the same, not sure why the white pearls are smaller than the black pearls... Drinks that need improvement 1. Taro milk tea: every time I order from Presotea, it tasted like powder that haven't been mixed very well. Texture is always chalky. Def not worth your $6-7 2. Hokkaido Milk Tea: This drink is extremely sweet. It tastes like someone just dumped 10 full teaspoons of sugar into the drink. Save your money for other drinks. read more

Attractively designed location with a split level format and very well maintained. Both times I went just after 10pm, it was surprisingly empty unlike the places closer to Finch so I had it pretty much to myself and it was a really nice place to take a relaxing break. Japanese Burnt Coffee: Normally I refuse to buy iced coffee drinks (pay 30% more to get half volume of ice or slush??) but this caught me off guard as I never saw it on the menu at other Presotea locations, and being a coffee guy, I couldn't resist. Initial taste was really good. A strong flavour similar to Vietnamese coffees, also reminded me of European blended coffee drinks though much less creamy. The Tapioca balls didn't add anything but the process of chewing them slowed the drinking down and helped savour each mouthful longer. The only problem was it wasn't blended thoroughly enough so the bottom third was much less intense. Best cold coffee drink I've had in a long time, but it came out to almost $8 (was not priced on the menu board). If the taste had been consistent all the way to the bottom, it would almost be worth it. However I'm glad I tried it and maybe I'll do it once or twice a year as a light alternative to dessert. Taro Latte (cold): My first time having this so nothing to compare it with, but I wanted to give it a try for a long time since I've liked virtually everything-Taro I've ever tired. Ordered it half sweet which was OK although perhaps 1/3 sweet would have been even better. It was pleasant, I was getting some Taro flavour but at the same time there were tastes which reminded of Hazelnut syrup and simulated Caramel which made me wonder what was really in the mix they used. But there were no funny aftertastes which usually follow artificial or engineered flavour packs so I didn't feel bad about it. However I think the mellow, comforting taste of Taro is better expressed in a warm Latte, or perhaps a more viscous drink like a smoothie with Banana & Avocado. read more

Quiet but gets a lot of traffic because there aren't bigger names like coco's or chatime around (those are further down Yonge street). Pretty good drink selection but be prepared for a slight markup. I honestly always feel disappointed (but still go back) because they don't put enough toppings in a large and they advertise putting passion fruit seeds but they don't. Very cute location of Presotea in the Emerald Park building. They have fine decor and comfortable tables and chairs if you want to socialize/work at the back. Staff has been alright but I get the impression the service has slipped since they don't remind customers that they can adjust the sugar and ice level in their drink just like before. This particular presotea location is worth coming to for their "brown sugar tapi". I haven't found this topping at any other presotea. It's sweet and has just the right bite to it. I enjoy the light sweetness since I get 0% sugar in my drinks when possible. Their Okinawa brown sugar drink is the standout drink for me here. Sometimes it's sold out though... like today... =( I think the Hokkaido milk tea is better at ten rens, but I'll still order it from here if I'm close by. The royal earl grey is better at Gong Cha, but I will also order it from here if they run out of the Okinawa brown sugar milk tea. They can adjust sugar and ice levels here. I like their mango slush and most milk tea. The best part is that you can customize it on sugar level, ice level, and add additional toppings like grass jelly or pudding (my favourites). I go to prestotea a lot and they've never messed up any of my order regardless how much customization I've asked for. One more nice thing they have is that they accept WeChat and Alipay. Pretty good place for bbt, drinks can be hit or miss. The drinks that I recommend include their mango slush, avocado slush, hokkaido milk tea, passionfruit green tea and matcha green tea red bean slush. The ones I wouldn't recommend is their brown sugar ginger (too sweet), jasmine tea (very bitter) and matcha milk tea (also too sweet and mild matcha taste). This place has my all time love- mango slush!! I tell you now, this is the best place for mango slush. And this presotea location serves up the best one!! I kid you not, I tried ALL their location. Came here to study after school one day to cram for midterms. I'm always on the lookout for cafes or dessert places with a good studying environment and happened to see a bunch of tables in the back of this Presotea after stopping by with a friend a week ago. Environment: I walked from the subway station to Presotea, it was a very quick and convenient walk; right across the street. There are plenty of tables and was generally pretty empty when I arrived (around 4:10pm on Monday), so I was easily able to find a work place. The tables are a good height for writing or using a laptop, and I find the chairs comfortable. Chinese pop/r&b music was played in the background, which was generally fine until Chinese rap music started playing and made it harder to focus. I wish volume of the music could be lower, but that was the only main con. Service: I don't have much to say about the service. They were efficient and my drink came out pretty fast. The staff weren't friendly, but they weren't unfriendly either. Bubble Tea: I ordered the Royal Earl Grey milk Tea with tapioca and half sugar; tea was good, tapioca was not as soft as I would have liked, but it wasn't bad. Prices aren't horrible, about the same as other bubble tea places. I decided to go in an order in person but I received racist remarks from the TEAristas working as I made my order for mango slush. Made me sick to my stomach to this that I can still be mistreated for the colour of my skin in 2019! Sadly will not be ordering from them or buying there again. So maybe this is as good as it gets in Toronto for boba but damn I guess you all got to come out to California if you looking for good tea, that actually looks and tastes like tea. So I ordered a black milk tea with boba and got it half-sweet. I think the first think that should have gotten me worried was when this muddy water came out of this machine that was supposed to resemble tea. Followed by a couple scoops of powder (blah.... we still using powder in bubble tea like its 1999?) But I figured its gonna be ok they look pretty legit. But nope first sip immediately felt the diabetes creeping through my veins (remember this is half sweet yo). Second sip was where I got some boba and this is where this concoction earned a place in the trash can. It was cold hard and had no flavor whatsoever. One more sip just to be sure and two boba were literally grainy inside. When I first discovered these guys, I was instantly in love. The service was good (though there could sometimes be a bit of a language barrier) and the teas were excellent. And then I found out they had a rewards program and I was hooked! I was buying their tea all the time, so why not get the occasional freebie? But the honeymoon is over. As time progressed, I found the service getting worse and worse. First, they stopped carrying many of the interesting toppings they advertised. Then they stopped letting you do half-and-half toppings (half serving of two different toppings for the price of one). Then they continued allowing half-and-half, but at the price of two. Then they took almost every option off of their rewards program (you get points for any purchase, but you can only get the cheapest teas as a freebie). And then there was today. What finally pushed me over the edge. Three or so visits ago, I asked them to check how many reward points I had and they told me 13. I had purchased nothing with points since then because that was around when they changed the available options and I didn't want any of their basic offerings. So if that was three visits ago, I should have at least 15 points (not counting today's visit because I didn't buy anything). I decide I'll get something off their basic menu to see what they're like... and they tell me I only have 8 points. I told the guy that I should have more. He stared at the computer and said no, I have 8. I told him to forget it and left. And I won't be returning. read more

Do not order from them on Uber eats. I ordered last night and cancelled instantly within seconds and was charged. The price on uber eats is mis-leading. I had to select a size which is +$1 for a regular and $2 for large. It's great if you had a good experience with them and I wish I had also. So: I'm incredibly sad to write this review. Mostly because this is literally the only rewards-based bbt joint that my partner lives near and you know me - always down for a rewards-based joint. Anyway! I had already redeemed rewards here before. So I guess I should explain that presotea uses their own rewards app which is totally cool - again, let me say that I have redeemed two rewards from them before. I usually just redeem a small because I don't drink 15 teas that often. 10 seems like a decent level...for me anyway. Imagine my surprise when I tried to redeem a reward last week and the guy says sorry you can't. - BC WE DON'T SELL ANYTHING SMALL-SIZED. wtf. What's the point of a small reward when I can't redeem it? Also. You totally did before because I redeemed it before!
