The good: 1. It's nice to still have a roller skating rink…read moreopen. 2. The old school arcade games are fun if they're working. Gex X parents who accompany their kids but are not skating will appreciate this. 3. The place certainly has "good bones" and a lot of potential. It's still fun despite its many shortcomings. The bad: 1. It's filthy. Whether it's the bathrooms, snack area, or the skating floor, it doesn't appear that there is any routine cleaning going on. 2. The floor is dangerous. A large section of it is so warped and rough that I'm not sure how they manage to get insurance on the place. Maybe they don't? It's a bad accident waiting to happen. And at the other end of the skating floor there is a bouncy house occupying a significant area of the floor. The surrounding area (being near the snack bar) is often littered with food debris which can jam up skates and cause falls. 3. There's no music variety. They play the same few songs every session and if you go often it gets old fast. 4. More session availability and times are needed. "Back in the day" we had rinks catering to the younger crowd for early daytime sessions, and older kids and adults for evening sessions. This worked well and kept the younger kids safer. Having more events like 80s/90s nights with music for skaters in their 30s-50s would be nice. We still skate. We grew up skating. 5. As soon as the music stops, they turn off the lights. It gets very dark in the building so it can be difficult for people to gather their items and safely exit at the end of session. This can be risky for young children and older adults accompanying them. 6. The cost is now $15 per person to enter a filthy building with a floor that is almost too dangerous to skate on. Some cosmetic upgrade attempts have been made but much more effort is needed to make this place safe. Even a modern skating rink would be reaching to charge $15 per person, making it a $60 trip just to walk in the door if a family of four wants to skate together. Many local residents can't afford that. On a personal experience note, I used to take my kids here every weekend, often both days. Due to unavoidable schedule issues, there were times we only got to skate for half of the session or less. My kids loved to go, so we did. Ashtabula is in short supply on indoor entertainment. One time I asked the owner if he could reduce the cost even a little because we missed half of the session; he got very rude and asked me if I went to baseball games late and asked for a discount. (???) Never mind that the comparison made no sense. I spent heaps of money over the years at this business (parties for my kids, encouraging friends and family to have their kids' parties there, countless sessions, shirts, snack bar, video games, you name it) and that was how a loyal customer was treated. It wasn't the denial of my request but the extremely rude response, which was really unnecessary. As a result (of the rude treatment, not the cost itself) I ended up saving the money I would have spent there and buying my kids outdoor roller skates. We found parking lots and roads were much smoother than that rink floor. And since the price was raised substantially besides, with no obvious improvement or benefit, we've found no reason to return.

Really only fun place to bring kids that's indoor in Ashtabula. Plus they have a big screen tv for…read morethe parents. But I would've gave more stars if it wasn't for the fact that its freezing in that place , I mean freezing . Like need a burn barrel freezing wear a snow suit freezing!!
