However this year I was extremely disappointed with our closing. Not only were things left unfinished, but pervious instructions on where to empty the water were ignored (ending up costing me $450) on top of the police showing up at our house (very irate)... Here are the list of issues: - Water was illegally dumped on the dirt road running into the Rouge River system. Neighbors called the police due to road erosion and contamination of the river way. - Pool water was emptied too low! This is supposed to be on the 2nd step, but the pump/basket was placed on the floor of our shallow end, putting the entire pool at risk through the winter months (more money will need to be spent upon opening to fill the pool back up). - Instructions were given to call us before emptying the pool or empty the pool water into our EZ-Ice ice rink. This was not done, resulting in an incremental bill of $450 to fill the rink. - Filter baskets (by pumps) left uncovered allowing fall debris to get in them until I covered them and cleaned them out to avoid damage. - Cover was initially put on backwards. It was corrected after I called and informed them - Minor, but they left pool cover 'bag' out and it blew into neighbors yard which I was unaware until they brought it back. - They didn't complete connecting all of the cover straps to the moorings in the ground. Given my past positive experiences and longtime patronage, I requested a pricing adjustment. After a very disappointing and somewhat condescending conversation with the 'owner' (arguing every point / example provided) they were only willing to decrease the bill by $50. The handling of this issue and overall aggressiveness of the owner has forced me to make this review, and ultimately end my business with them, and hopefully inform others so they don't run into the same situation. I know the owner is a 3rd generation for the store, so hopefully seeing a review like this will help him move back to the customer support level of where we've known and expected their service to be. I hired Golden Pools for a few jobs. 1. Our liner detached at one end. We needed that repaired. 2…read more Our motor was cracked. Needed that repaired or replaced. 3. The pool was filthy. Needed it cleaned. I wanna start by saying that it's rare to find a pool company even willing to come out in the first place, let alone do all that work. So I appreciated that. Secondly, the job was a job well done. They repaired the liner, replaced the motor, and cleaned the pool. The guy that came out was personable, but he also came out, got the job done, and left. I appreciated that. However, while they were out there, it was discovered that the sand filter was dumping sand into the pool. They found the necessary parts to replace it and did that job as well. Now, for the most important part: Long story short, there was a difference of opinion regarding whether or not the sand subsequently dumped in the pool by the broken sand filter should be cleaned by them. While they didn't initially agree, ultimately they made it right and came out and cleaned it. And not only do I appreciate that, I respect it. So this was a well-earned five star review with five star service and, if they'd have me, I'd gladly continue utilizing them for all my pool needs.

Totally upgraded our 20' X 40' inground pool in 2000, all new grouting, coping and cement work by…read moreAldo. Splendor Pool installed the liner, it lasted a wonderful 17 years. Then in 2017, we switched to Pools by Angelo for our second liner because Splendor Pool retired their business. The second liner was made by Latham, made in Canada. Pools by Angelo charged $5000 to purchase and install the new liner, we never went out for quotes at that time. They also charged an additional $800 to repair any damaged grout work. Pools by Angelo had a sub a sub-contractor (Jason) installs the liner and grout work. While he was installing the liner in the deep end hopper, ground water was flowing from a crack in the grout. Jason was throwing cement at the leak trying to seal the leak, at the same time installing the liner right over top the leak. I aksed him, are you sure you can do that? He said, no problem we do it all the time. The following summer, wrinkles in the liner started forming in the deep end hopper area. Then in the summer of 2023 we started losing 1/4" of water daily, initially we thought it was evaporation, then when I closed the pool in Sept 2023, we kept losing water. Turned out water was leaking from the skimmer. Jason used Bondo on the skimmer face sealing surface, with no gasket between the vinyl liner and skimmer face. The Bondo deteriorated over time, allowing water to leak, which explained why we had hundreds of wrinkles in our 7-year-old liner. I contacted Angelo and showed him the mess Jason made of the skimmer. Angelo claimed all the wrinkles were a result of poor chemical maintenance. He took zero responsibility for anything, but he said, when you are ready to replace the liner, I will give you a good deal. So, we decided to replace the liner and went out for multiple quotes from all our local pool suppliers. As I mentioned earlier, we paid $5000 for the liner in 2017, so a good deal from Pools by Angelo would have been $5000 in 2024, 7 years later. Our best quote was $5,600, Pools by Angelo quoted $8,900, using the exact same liner supplier Latham. Obviously, we went with the $5,600 quote. We also replaced the skimmer and winter safety cover, also made by Latham. So, when the pool was empty, the 7-year-old liner was removed, exposing the mess Jason made in the deep end hopper area. The area that was leaking ground water while Jason was placing the liner over the leak, was totally eroded away, requiring major re0grouting. The new pool company we hired did an exceptional job correcting all the mess Pools by Angelo made 7 years earlier. We were a loyal Pools by Angelo customer for the past 7 years, ever since they installed our new liner in 2017. Unfortunately, we will never do business with them, ever again. I took the time to write this so people clearly understand what Angelo is really like as a business owner. There are a lot of nice people at Pools by Angelo, as far as getting your water checked, or buying chemicals from them. But I would never recommend getting a pool from this company.

If you watch the man work, its immediately clear that he knows what he is doing. And even though that knowledge and skill is how he makes his living, he was very good about answering questions I had; and even providing tips that would ensure that I would need his services less! I found his honesty and helpfulness refreshing, and after three years since his last visit, I'm hoping I can reach him again to fix a difficult-to-service leak. PS- I wrote this review for two reasons: 1.) because I was that satisfied by Spa Service's performance, and 2.) because the poor review from the Veterinarian below, in particular, annoyed me. It never ceases to amaze me how people can make emergencies of their own 'needs', but not feel a sense of urgency to pay the person that fixes the problem. It is now October 30th and they still have not finished the job. I have been calling and texting them since October 10th but they have not returned any of my calls or text messages. They have not finished the job. I do not recommend hiring them due to their lack of communicate and them not finishing the job. If you do decide to hire them, do not pay them until the job is completely finished.
