Some advice for anyone looking to make a purchase here. As we know, they specialize in branded AKA salvage title vehicles. They're usually priced 1/3 or so below non-branded title vehicle pricing but will likely come with one of the following; - A smell if branded by flood or hurricane. - An electrical issue if by lemon AKA buyback. - Noise/Bad Paint/Body Panel Gaps if by branded/totaled by a collision. Don't rely on dealer to give you reason, just Google the VIN number in the listing and you'll see pictures of it wrecked, and also give you an explanation of the type of salvage it has in addition to what State it's coming from. So, for the advice, I'd recommend looking at one that was in a flood or damaged in the rear. I say flood because many large insurance companies will total entire dealership lots (100's) and dealerships like this will buy them, and you can usually find a really good car. Look under seats and bolts inside floor of car, and if rusted, don't buy it. That means water got inside the actual cabin. Also, look for cars that were wrecked in the back. With this, there's minimal electrical, no engine or transmission parts, so worst you'd have is misalignment of panels, noises or bad paint. Considering you get $1,000's off by buying here, you have to go in knowing what to expect. Most people don't do it but I'd recommend a body shop to inspect vs dealership. Also, don't buy the warranty. Many other people mention it here but that's where I got hosed the most. I paid over $3k for a warranty that was "premium" however both things that went wrong weren't covered. I was irritated but what was I gonna do? I was going to take it to the nearest dealer for the repair, except two different brand name dealerships have a policy of not working on branded title vehicles, so now what do I do? Luckily l was able to get outve the car but not without losing a few $$'s, and learning a lifelong lesson in the process - Stick to buying a year or three old vehicle with under 30k miles, and you'll be good.

We did not end up buying a vehicle here-simply because we found exactly what we were looking for elsewhere. But I wanted to acknowledge that our experience was pretty good, nonetheless. It started when we expressed interest in a vehicle online. The manager followed up with us to see if we wanted to come in and see the vehicle or answer any questions we had. Not pushy, just helpful. We did go in to do a test drive and found that two of the three vehicles we wanted to see were in the shop having some type of repair or maintenance done. We did drive one, but the actual model we really wanted wasn't available. At one point, we were waiting for our sales rep to gather some information for us. While we waited, we enjoyed the massage chairs in the waiting area. Clever way to make guests feel comfortable during what could be a stressful activity. Ultimately, we found just what we were looking for elsewhere that was available that day for a test drive. Unfortunate timing for Prestman, but I understand that is the nature of the business.

Salesmen are badly behaved. I called and said that I was having a hard time seeing details on their photos because they're so heavily edited (pic attached -- it is extremely apparent that the saturation and contrast is heavily modified) and before I could finish my statement to say I needed to know if the headlights were smoked on this car, the salesman started calling me a jerk and acting like a total jerk himself. All because I rightfully pointed out that they are modifying their pictures and making it hard to see what the car actually looks like. I later got a call back from the sales manager who was happy to hear my complaint right up to the point where I said I was no longer interested in their car due to the situation. He hung up like a child who just had their lollipop taken from them. Apparently, this dealer can't take any criticism.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update. Stress of a broken down car was as minimal as it could be and I will definitely return as the need arises. Thanks so much!!!

That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.

Jessy was so kind and communicative. He broke it to me that the car required more repairs than it was worth, and that my current shop was not doing a good job at maintaining my car. Maybe he felt bad for me, maybe he wanted to make a show of good faith, but he didn't even charge me for the diagnostic in that instance. I ended up selling that car for scrap and eventually buying a new car. I brought the new car in for a pre-purchase inspection and WOW, Jessy and his team really showed their true colors on how thorough they are! They checked absolutely everything. They even checked the cabin air filter because he told me that a rodent had built a nest in it. They found things that other shops had missed. Is there such a thing as being too thorough? Jessy might be! But I'd rather have my auto shop be extremely thorough and triple check everything rather than be sloppy and miss things. Their attention to detail and commitment to quality is obvious, right down to how they require appointments for their shop. They want to make sure that every single car gets the attention it needs. I can't recommend Mike Palmer enough and even though I don't live in the neighborhood anymore, I will make the trek to come back here for my auto repairs and recommend them to all my friends. Jessy is a truly honest mechanic who just wants to help you do your best to maintain your car. How do I know? They're not trying to make money nickel and diming you on easy fixes. He could have fixed the cabin air filter for me without asking and taken the easy win but instead he said, that's an easy fix and I easily figured out how to replace it on my own. He wasn't bothered by the fact that I wanted to change my own oil either. Jessy is your true ally in keeping your car running in tip top condition the best way possible.
