The coaches take the sport - and safety - seriously, and have expect the kids to do so as well. They make the drills fun and challenging. The kids begged me to put them into fencing camp over the summer, and they had a blast there. We also love that they offer open fencing times once the kids have passed the beginning course. I personally witnessed the incident referenced in the negative review. I remember it because I made it a point to go up to the owner afterwards to compliment him on how he handled the situation. It didn't occur during my kids' class - they're in intermediate fencing, and this was a beginning class. But the kid was absolutely out of line, and they just don't mess around with kids not following directions here. Since the sport involves waiving swords around, the paying attention, following directions, and strict safety rules are non-negotiable. My boys are having a blast here, and I hope they'll be fencing here for a long time to come!

He feels that he's gained quite a bit of fencing knowledge/skills, is treated fairly by coaches/students, and gets a descent workout most of the time. Coach Stu(owner) explains expectations, gives warnings about behavior, and treats kids no different than I've seen in martial arts schools and other fencing clubs. As with all clubs, some coaches have higher expectations than others and it's no different here. If your kid is super sensitive, this is not the place for them. You get stabbed or hit (pool noodle) at every class. Even with protective gear on, you can feel it. It's worth noting that I have never seen a major injury in class in the almost 4 years that my son has been taking lessons. There have been only a handful of minor scratches in that time. There are definitely 3 cons for this business: The website is confusing and not up to date most of the time, the club needs some sprucing up, and parking requires patience because its limited and the lot is narrow. I see a lot of the same happy kids every week, so this place must be doing something right.

This center is owned and run by Master "A"; he is the perfect blend of kind/patient and firm. He knows when to push the students to work harder and when to give praise and make your child feel like they are making progress towards their next stripe. Again, stellar teachers with a knack for making your child feel like they are the only student in the room. Your child is given a great deal of attention because of their low teacher/student ratios.
