You really have your pick of chain cafés in this part of the city; there's at least 2 Prets and EATs each, as well as a Pure and a Joe & the Juice, in the 4-minute walk from the Monument tube stop to the client site I was working at the past few weeks. This location is fairly large, with a good amount of seating, hot and cold food, and friendly staff.
Each of the 3 times I came here, I got an Americano to stay; the 3rd time I was here, I also got a chocolate croissant. The Americanos were good and the croissant was very scrumptious. The staff member ringing me up made a point to get a croissant from the far end of the pastry trays, telling me they tended to have more chocolate. Whether or not this was true, I was effectively charmed. It usually wasn't busy when I arrived around 7:15 AM, but the seats tended to fill up throughout the following hour.
There was 1 unisex/handicap accessible bathroom on the main floor at least; I'm not sure if there's more bathrooms somewhere else out of sight. The tables were clean and the staff bus your trays if you eat in. I was able to pay with my American bank card. There's free wifi but it wasn't very compatible with my VPN, so keep that in mind if you're trying to get some work done there. read more
