Short version: Palma's made a commitment to provide us a bouncy house for our daughter's party and then canceled a full 3 weeks later, after we'd already circulated invitations and had 50 confirmed guests for the event. We then had to scramble and find a different bouncy house provider, with less lead time, that the City of Goleta would approve as a one-off for our park location. Full version: March 17, 2026 - Bouncy house reservation: We got in touch with Palma's Party Rentals to secure a bouncy house for our daughter's birthday party, to take place at Stow Grove Park in Goleta on May 23, 2026. Palma's texted us pictures, and we agreed on a specific bouncy house. Palma's is the only approved bouncy house vendor for Stow Grove Park, so we had no choice but to enlist them for that location. March 20, 2026 - We sent invitations and received 50 "yes" RSVPs: Having secured the bouncy house, we sent electronic invitations to our guests and received 50 "yes" RSVPs in the couple of weeks that followed, so this was shaping up to be a large party. April 10, 2026 - Palma's unexpectedly cancels: A full three weeks after they made their bouncy house commitment to us, we received this text message from Palma's: "Hello,this is Estela from Palma's party rentals.unfortunately I won't be able to bring you the bounce house May 23rd .because that is day of my daughter's graduation at the university of San Diego.if you want to change the date to May 30th. I'll bring it to you I'm very sorry. Please let me know. If you want to change the date you still have time ." We informed Palma's that we couldn't change the date of the event, invitations were sent long ago, and we already had 50 confirmed guests. When we asked whether they could make someone else available to deliver the bounce house as previously agreed, we received this reply: "I'm sorry. but we can't do that because my husband and I are the only ones handling delivery. That is why we don't require a deposit." Even with several months now having passed, I am still stunned at the lack of professionalism here. We then had to appeal to the City of Goleta to allow us to use another bouncy house vendor, given Palma's unexpected cancellation. Following a long and nerve racking approval process, the City of Goleta ultimately allowed us to enlist Magic Jump Party Rentals, who saved the day and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Given Palma's Party Rentals' overwhelmingly positive reviews here, I'm guessing this was an anomaly. But also given their negligence in our case, in committing to a date and cancelling a full three weeks following that commitment, I feel compelled to share our story to prevent similar headaches for others.

Day at Alvarez Rentals in Grover Beach took care of us like no other. He procured a tent, tanks and chairs for me and then came and set it up on time including lights! Amazing customer service!!! I proceeded to text and call and got no response until a few days later I got a message and all is said was "yes what time do we pick up chairs"? I just figured that maybe they were busy and hard to get ahold of. Well the wedding day approaches and I am getting ready and my fiancé is waiting at the venue for them to bring the chairs. 11:45 comes and nothing. 11:50 comes and nothing. Almost 12 comes and my fiancé decides to call and Danny (the owner) answers and my fiancé said it sounds like he was lounging in a rocking chair. Danny proceeds to switch his story a few times. First story he said he forgot about my event and second story was he had another event and was running behind and he wouldn't be able to get the chairs to the venue for another hour which is past the time the wedding was supposed to start. At this point my fiancé was panicking and we had to tell our wedding coordinator to delay the schedule by about 30 mins. When they finally showed up with the chairs Danny was no where to be found and it seems like he just pawned the o job off on a couple other people. No apology, no offer of a partial refund nothing.

Their recommendations were perfect and when I ended up needing to lessen the amount of lights to accommodate our budget, they helped us narrow it down and their advice and instruction was perfect. Joanna was a joy to work with - so easy to contact and connect with. They handled all of the installation and take down and connected with our venue manager on their own and it was all so smooth and easy. And I can't stress enough, the lights really just made the dance floor and evening reception perfect. It was like a fairytale and looked so wonderful.
