The initial visit, the admissions process and the move-in process took about a month; I moved into Independent Living about a month ago. All issues that arose were addressed by the Director of Sales and Communications, the Director of Resident Services and Moving Coordinator, and the maintenance staff; to my total satisfaction. For instance, negotiation with the movers was sticky, but satisfactorily resolved. I was picky about the paint colors in each room, but very happy with the results. My experience moving in has been no different. Maintenance has repaired and installed everything in a professional manner. So far they have installed a fan, Spectrum, mounted bookshelves and replaced a broken garbage disposal. And that's only what immediately comes to mind. I also arranged to have Hollenbeck pick up and deliver all of my prescriptions. And, since day one, I began meeting other residents. They have all been super friendly. It helps to take your meals in the dining room (3 meals a day included) where you can have good conversations. Others have stopped me in the hall to chat ("Oh, you're the new resident with a cat..."). I haven't engaged in any activities yet, but I assume it's also a great way to meet the other residents. I'm very impressed with the staff (caring and of good cheer), the accommodations and the beautiful grounds (8.5 acres). When the time comes when I will need more care, I sense I will feel that I have chosen wisely.

I love Hollenbeck Palms…read more From the day Mom and her two cats moved in, she's told me about the new friends she continues to make, people who lead exceptional lives and who have become friends to me and our family, joining us for lunch, dinner or the theatre on premises or off. Hollenbeck Palms is itself a beautiful place, with space to stroll the gardens or watch the sun set behind downtown. There are multiple daily concerts, lectures and movies on prem and off, although Mom has been partial to the dance classes and personal training in the gym. Off premises, Hollenbeck is adjacent to some great neighborhood restaurants, and just across the river from restaurants and galleries in the Arts District, as well as the L.A. Music Center and Disney Hall. As a family, we have bonded with Jose, the bus driver, from the times Mom has invited more friends to lunch and a show than we can fit in our cars. When needed, there is a full range of medical and psychological support for both residents and families, from assisted residential living (Mom), to memory care, exceptional skilled nursing and on-site physicians. Because Hollenbeck Palms has been operated as a not-for-profit enterprise with a board of directors made up of residents and their families for well over 100 years, my family has been able to afford a quality of life for Mom better than anywhere else, and we have not worried that would change should we run into financial difficulty. However, more than anything else, I am constantly surprised by the kindness of every person who works there. Mom has been happy living at Hollenbeck Palms, and we are all very glad we found it.

Their activity staff is great. They play games along with various activities to coordinate with the different holidays and themes for each month. The physical therapy staff not only works with my aunt on her physical body, but they also give her stimulating mind activities as well. Overall this is a great facility for your loved ones. Thank you,

Prerequisite was he had a bowel movement with in the last two days, could be safely discharge from hospital and find safe transportation from Paso Robles to Gardena. I was not informed there would be no Physical Care, scheduling and advocacy for admitting patient during the weekend. The long 5 hour drive was painful and uncomfortable for my husband Upon arrival an assistant picked up my husband and plopped him into a wheelchair. With total disregard to the hip pain and surgery my husband had undergone, or to allow my husband to exit the car on his own with some assistance. There was no pillow or blanket on his bed. I went and purchased food for my husband to eat. Only pain medication available was Tydonal until after medical evaluation on Monday afternoon. It was 6:30 pm Saturday. Staff seems to be over worked and under staffed on weekends. The room my husband was placed in, had 4 beds two were already occupied. The room had a strong stifling odor of urine and smelly wet sheets. By 8:45pm, my husband called and asked to be picked up and I took him home. RCC was not prepared for caring for my husband's physical needs, pain management, wound care and wellbeing after his surgery and long transportation to an aftercare facility.

He had a severe wound on his foot and Torrance Memorial Hospital told me amputation was the only option. I am grateful to say the wound care team at Marina Point proved that wrong. Steven, Malea, Courtney, and Alex have done an amazing, outstanding job. What they did feels like a miracle. Because of their care, my father's wound is almost completely closed. Their skill and dedication truly made the difference. The nursing staff Grace, Marcus, and Jenny make sure my father receives his medications and proper care. They are professional, patient, and reassuring. Brian and the physical therapy department also do excellent work helping patients regain strength and mobility. The CNAs are truly heroes. Hirut treats my father like family. She keeps him clean and well groomed and even when he is difficult she takes her time and gives him top-tier treatment. The patients seem to really love her. Even when my father refuses food she makes sure he gets the nutrition he needs. Coretta and Joe also work very hard caring for patients. I also appreciate how clean the facility is. It does not smell like a typical nursing home. Staff are always cleaning. My father always has clean gowns, towels, and sheets with no stains. The housekeeping staff clearly take pride in their work. The food looks decent and they give patients a variety of meals. When you call, someone always answers and you reach a live person, which gives families peace of mind. I especially thank Iman who helped get my father admitted the same day. She showed compassion and urgency. She worked to find a bed and helped him get accepted the same day. I will never forget that. The administration and nursing leadership also deserve recognition. The staff are welcoming, professional, honest, and reliable. They make families feel secure leaving loved ones in their care. Marina Point took a huge amount of stress off me because I know my father is safe and cared for. I would absolutely recommend Marina Point Healthcare & Subacute. The people here truly care. If I could give them 10 stars, I would.
