We love a roadside attraction and this was a perfect place to stop heading back from Mobile to TN. I had a terrible experience with this company and want to warn others before they make the same mistake. They shipped my order to the wrong address, even though the correct address was provided on my order. When I noticed the issue, I contacted their customer service multiple times by email and phone trying to get it resolved. Instead of taking responsibility or helping fix the mistake, they essentially ignored my attempts to reach them. After getting no response and no solution, I was forced to file a dispute with my credit card company just to try to get my money back. It should never have had to reach that point. Mistakes happen, but what matters is how a company handles them. In this case, the lack of accountability and complete disregard for customer service was extremely disappointing. Wow this is "The Spot" for all things pecan! I really didn't expect to find so much stuff packed into this place. I had driven past this spot MANY times over the years and I kept telling myself, "I really need to make time to pull over and check this place out" well it took more years than I would like to say... but I was so happy when I finally made my long overdue first visit! This is such a fun place with LOTS of candy, fudge, ice cream and even a tiny café that serves a limited menu. If you time your visit right they have an upstairs viewing space where you can watch their candy factory at work as staff make their various pecan filled treats that Priester's Pecans has become famous for. They also operate quite a large gift store and have all manner of clothing items and other merchandise to go along with their edible offerings. They also have many outdoor spaces which are pleasant to investigate as well. Overall this is definitely a great spot to add to your stops list when doing trip planning through this area! read more

Purchased 7 of their Warmest Wishes Pecan tins as Holiday gifts mailed directly to recipients. The pictures on their website show tins filled with loose pecans separated by type, chocolate, praline, etc.. They arrived in the tin which had 3 retail cellophane packages of nuts. For the price they charge for shipping, you'd think they'd be able to pack the flavor coated ones in insulated, stay cold bags so they don't melt during shipping. Some of mine were completely stuck together. Priesters, Amazon has great, insulated bags for next to nothing. For the shipping prices you charge, you could at least put them in one of those. ( NOT.. the small little paper like ones you have to wet first, then freeze.) But, the metallic like insulated ones. The shipping we pay, would cover a dozen of them. read more

I have never left a one star review for anyone before, but based on other reviews, I'm not the only one . Horrible customer service. We have been ordering these nuts for many years for Christmas giveaways and every year it's always challenging.. this year I initiated a corporate order and provide provided the spreadsheet with all of our recipients as well as a personal message. Two weeks later, I was still trying to get them to send me some sort of purchase order/estimate for our order so I could double check the list and the addresses, as well as the personal message. That didn't happen. I finally emailed them and asked them what the holdup was and they told me that they were ready for payment. I said I'd like to see a purchase order so I know what I'm buying. They said well we don't do that until we ship. long story short I trusted them, big mistake. they ran our credit card for $800+ and several days later, I have still not received any paperwork from them. We ordered 1 pound gift tins of mixed nuts, just as we do every year. They shipped 10 ounce cans of nuts. Ridiculous.! I have emailed them no less than 10 times and called at least five or six times. Ordered Christmas Gift box from Priesters last year and had a good experience. Fast forward to this season and placed order on 12/9/24 with requested ship date of 12/13/24 so it would have plenty of time to get to the intended recipient. Got a notice from UPS on 12/20 ( Friday evening) that a label had been created and it would now arrive on Christmas Eve. Guess what? The whole purpose of shipping on the 13th was to give plenty of time for the package to get delivered well before Christmas Eve. Priesters, for some reason, thought it would be a good idea to wait an entire week later, on the 20th, to create a label saying it would be shipping and deliver by the 24th. Not even sure it will make it by then but what's the point now. Shipping fees were almost 30% of the cost of the gift only to miss the shipping date completely. NOT GOOD Priesters. It's a long story I don't have time to tell you here--but the short of it is that after 4 months of working in New York City, I was driving my car back to Los Angeles. That morning I was offered a tour of the Hyundai Car Factory in Montgomery, Alabama and I was trying to make it down to Interstate 10 via Mobile, AL to get into Texas by nightfall. (Don't try that on your own.) I past by this place and stopped in because they had Pecan signs all over the road--who does not like Pecans? This is Pecan Country--if you are in this area--you eat Pecans--breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ever have a Pecan steak? Pecan chicken? Pecan Salmon? Pecan Soup? Pecan Pancakes? Pecan Oatmeal? And of course: Pecan Pie! At the toll booth, they even take Pecans for payment. That's how big it is here. Now, I am not sure you want to go far out of your way to come here--but if you are passing by, definitely stop in and try the Pecans! My company has been ordering pies to give to our clients for Christmas, for over a decade. We order around 80-100 pies each year. This year, we ordered 85 pies. We always put our order in by Thanksgiving and request the ship date to be around December 15th. The process is always complicated because the website doesn't work properly, it continuously resets and will not always hold the addresses you have already entered. It took me 2 1/2 hours to put the information in for the order. It specifically asks the ship date on each item you order. The day after I put the order in, we received a call from Priester's to confirm the ship date of December 15th. This was confirmed by us. However, the next day, several of those pies were shipped. When I got an email stating they were shipped, I immediately called the customer service number. They stated they would give me the number to "corporate" because they "deal with complaints." She transferred me to them, and it disconnected me. I called back and spoke to someone different who said the same thing and again transferred me. This time, after holding 9 minutes and getting down to caller one in the queue, I was again disconnected. I called back 3 more times, with no help from customer service and disconnected each time I was transferred. I then sent the first email explaining what happened and tried to stop the remaining pies from being shipped. Over the next 2 1/2 weeks, I attempted to call every day and emailed every other day with no response. No one tried contacting me or even answered my questions when I asked if they could be stopped. In the meantime, over half of the pies were shipped. I called back again the last time and left a message stating I would call every hour on the hour until I spoke to someone, and I would email every hour on the hour until I received a response. Unfortunately, it took that for someone to contact me. The only response I got was "Unfortunately, a system glitch caused several of the pies to ship out before they were supposed to, but not all. I will get a refund processed for the total of the shipping from the orders that did ship out before they were supposed to." I appreciated the refund, however some of this could have been prevented had they responded to my many calls and emails. Unfortunately, we will not use Priester's ever again. If there was a mistake made like this, that would not have been an issue, we understand things like this happen! However, it was the lack of response and unwillingness to acknowledge the lack of communication for such a large order and longstanding customer that pushed us to decide to move on from this company. read more

It's a nice general store that also serves food/buffet and has a bunch of random things to buy, however the best part is that it's part of a pecan confectionary founded by the Priester family.. so obviously pecans are their specialty here in any shape or form. Pro tip - there is a balcony you can walk up to and look at the actual manufacturing process of all different kinds of pecans - roasted, chocolate covered, truffle and tons of other styles and flavors. There's also a small exhibition which tells you about pecans in general and the company's history. Really cool to stop here on a road trip. The outdoors is also really relaxing and well maintained - perfect to get some fresh air on a long trip or let the dog run around for a bit.
