Destin Connection Seafood Market has the rudest customer service EVER! Young girl 17 years old was very combative with my elderly aunt who is on a walker! Called Store Manager/ Owner and he did not comprehend customer service etiquette! Extremely disappointed! My aunt still bought the shrimp anyway! This is NOT customer service!!!!!! My aunt asked for Wild Caught Shrimp, there was no sign. The employee said words back and forth. My Aunt spoke up for herself! She was visiting from NY and have never been treated the way she has at this establishment! The proper way to handle customers are to let them vent! Do NOT go back and forth with them. This place has GOT to have the best seafood in Montgomery! And from what I understand, the reason is because they travel to Destin, Florida directly and get their seafood FRESH and bring it back to Montgomery fresh to cook. From the first bite of their food, you can tell that the food is far more superior than any other place in the area. We ordered fish (I forget which kind) and fried shrimp and they were both prepared to perfection. Now, I will say that it's not a nice, white cloth, sit down restaurant, but the food there runs circles around those restaurants any day. Note to Self: Go Early. Went at 1:30 on a Saturday and they were already out of slaw and onion rings. Told that the wait time was 30 min. We stayed and enjoyed the fattest fried oysters (three biters) we've had in years... or since the last time we visited. Hush puppies were still good and fried okra was merely terrific. Catfish had mixed reviews from our party; one liked it, one didn't. Know that your meal comes with one cocktail sauce cup and if you want another or a tartar sauce, you'll have to get it from a chiller by the front door @$.25 ea. We thought this edition of the tartar sauce had a bit much dill, but nothing was left over. We left at 2:30 and heard the counter crew telling folks that the wait was now 45 minutes. read more

Normally Destin is ok, however after requesting that my fish be cooked hard he then replied to me that the fish is on a timer & that he did not have the time to fry it for the additional period of time that i had asked for. If you care anything about enforced COVID restrictions avoid this place! They wear their masks on the chin and they give your food away because they don't have systems in place to ensure the right person gets what they ordered. They have a a lot of people up front to help the numerous customers however it's very unorganized and at times chaotic and not worth the trouble. read more

Destin's is a hole in the wall divey seafood market that also sells a few cooked items. I have not had the chance to eat there so this review is only for the market. (I will say that there is a sign that says they are not a fast food restaurant so make sure you have some patience.) When you walk in there are two freezers to your right that have frozen crab legs, red shrimp, gumbo crabs, crawfish tails, gumbo and other fish. They also have a large variety of fresh fish as well on the counter whole and filets. A few I saw include catfish, striped bass, grouper, snapper, tilapia, scallops, and crawfish.They also have a few seasonings or breadings if you wanted to skip going to the store. I came in just for shrimp to make for a party. There were head on shrimp, large, and medium size as advertised. The head on were about $5 a lb, medium were $6 per lb, and I don't remember the large. The guy helping me was very nice and knowledgeable when I was asking questions about other fish. I will be back for all my seafood needs and to try their po' boys. read more

Religious experience. Getting fresh seafood in Montgomery is almost non-existent, but not at Destin Connection. I had a co-worker enlightened me to this place and now I make it a point to try and eat there at least once every week. I've probably eaten there 30+ times over the past year and a half. The guys that work there are always friendly and busy cleaning, cooking, or serving seafood. It seems like they really Really love their job. I've talked to the owner a couple of times, he's shown me his packing / order lists.. I'm writing this to let everyone know, he gets his stuff STRAIGHT from the gulf. The tartar sauce is made in house and is amazing, so is the cocktail sauce and the slaw. I have never had a bad meal there.... For me, it's always a toss up between to Shrimp or fried oyster po boy. I usually opt for the slaw. I've had most of their fish dishes, all great. It's a must visit for Montgomery. read more

Had lunch there for the first time today and had the shrimp Po Boy and it was great. I plan on going back for lunch again, and if I can get off of work early enough I would like to try some of their main entrees I love catfish, flounder, grouper, etc, but really go in for the shrimp and oysters. read more

Best fried oysters we've had in years, anywhere. Large, juicy and perfectly cooked with a minimum of coating. Fried catfish done with different batter and equally as good. Hush puppies were light and not greasy. Could also rave on the onion rings and fries, but not the Cole slaw or boiled corn. Would pick other sides next time. Don't be in a hurry since everything is done to order and the place is popular. We went at 2Pm and the line was six deep then. This a place with great service and good poor boys. I ordered the grilled grouper poor boy. Best I have ever had and it was real grouper not an Asian variety fish passed off as grouper. This is also a seafood market. Picked up some royal reds for supper. Perfect! read more
