I have been Dr Rao's patient for more than 7 years now. She is my Primary Care physician. Dr Rao is a excellent Doctor. She is a good listener and very patient. Her experience and knowledge is clearly understandable in her diagnosis and guidance. Over the years, she always guided me with the right advice at the right time. I have thyroid issues and she always encouraged me to get my blood work done regularly every 6 months. Even If I forget about my tests, she/her staff would follow-up with me and remind me about the tests. If I did not follow her advice and ignore my health, I would suffer for few days with something and always feel I wish I have listened to Dr Rao and acted as per advice. At times, I feel she is like my mum than my doctor. She takes such a good care and personnel interest with her patients. She is extremely committed to her profession and I have no words to explain. Once I had food poisoning and was not able to go to her office. It was late evening by the time I called and the phone was answered by her nurse. When I told my situation, with in few minutes, Dr Rao called me and spoke to me in detail over the phone. Immediately she sent the prescription to my Pharmacy and by the next morning, I have recovered completely. It is not just this one incident; I have seen her commitment multiple times over the years. The last few years, I was prediabetic. At a very early stage, she recommended me to a good nutritionist and guided me with good healthy habits for my prediabetic situation. Dr Rao is also a very kind and helpful person. I volunteer for ASHA for Women (a non-profit organization) and when I needed help for one of my client, she helped me immediately. I visited Dr. Rao's office only for annual physicals but once I had some allergy. I took appointment and make sure with receptionist that I am going to see doctor not nurse. When I reach over there, front desk person was asking for the co-pay. I told I would give the co-pay after service. When I went to the room in place of doctor, some nurse came to see me. When I ask about doctor, I came to know that she is in the Baltimore. I wasted my 3 hours to see doctor but I encountered with nurse. I want to consult doctor not nurse; I can see nurse in any pharmacy or even in my office clinic free of charge. My insurance paid them $171.00 for 2 minutes visit to nurse but now they are asking for co-pay. I feel that they cheated me and this doctor is taking advantage of the system. read more

I first saw Dr. Rao in 2013. For three years I had been complaining to my previous doctors about this nagging hip pain. No one was listening to me. Dr. Rao was the first doctor to really spend time with me and listen to my concerns. She was also the first doctor that actually physically examined my leg and hip. Thanks to her I found out I had a labral tear in my hip and was able to get the necessary referrals for surgery to correct this issue. She has also been a huge advocate for health prevention and wellness- after a few unhealthy years on my part, she has worked so much to get me on a path to health and wellness. For the first time in years I'm approaching a healthy weight and correcting some ongoing health issues as a result of her care and guidance. She truly cares and really takes the time to get to know her patients. If I ever need a referral or just need to come in to discuss a health issue she is always there for me!! I went to my physical checkup yesteray I am very disappointed.The BP operator was not working properly and the assitant checked my bp 6 times since it wasn't showing the proper measurements, and because of that My left arm is hurting still now. The lab assiatant poke me two times for the blood test since she was unable to find my vein (she said my veins moved once she poked me in) this is just a lame excuse. She actually doesn't know her job. My hand and left arm is hurting very bad since yesterday. I would never suggest them at all. Very unprofessional staff. read more

I was really disappointed. I came expecting to have my questions heard and answered, but instead was immediately berated for the current medicine I was on (which was prescribed, with good reason, by another doctor). She latched on to only one part of the issues I was experiencing and didn't even run full blood work on what I did have questions about. I also echo "E.T.'s" response, her bed side manner was blunt and patronizing, which had she started off more receptive in the beginning, I would have been more okay with as I have had doctors like that before. And how they ask you private matters in the open blood work area feels violating to me. Overall, I left and drove home in tears over how my concerns were addressed. read more

Dr. Rao's office is the only office I've visited where annual physicals are administered by RNs, not the physician in charge. Nurses call with test results and aren't always informed of your health conditions. Shortly after a miscarriage, e.g., my T3 levels were still low, and a nurse called to tell me I might need treatment for hypothyroidism. I thought this was irresponsible - low T3 is common during pregnancy, and my levels were recovering; Dr. Rao also hadn't tested the levels of my other thyroid hormones, which you need to diagnose thyroid conditions. I talked to my OBGYN, and she said my T3 levels weren't a cause for concern (and indeed, they bounced back). After this, I stopped trusting Dr. Rao's recommendations. Dr. Rao's bedside manner is also lacking. A couple years ago, I requested a refill of an anxiety med. When I saw Dr. Rao at my next physical, she noted I hadn't filled it, and when I told her I didn't need it (I'd been meditating, instead), she said, "That's great! I'm so proud of you!" I was 29, and this felt condescending. What would she have said if I'd filled the prescription - "I'm so disappointed"?! The following year, she brought up my anxiety, only to tell me I didn't have any because "I've seen patients with anxiety." (Really? So, just because she didn't see it at that moment meant I didn't have it?) Worse, when she learned of my miscarriage, instead of addressing it privately in the exam room, she came to ask me how I was doing as I was getting my blood drawn in an open space. (How do you think? I lost a child, and I have a needle in my arm.) I always got the feeling she was trying to move me along, which was reflected in her one-line answers to my portal questions. My husband, who's Indian-American, pointed out her beside manner might reflect cultural differences, but I just found her to be too insensitive. read more

Iv seen better. My experience was not bad but it wasn't good either. The practice is messy and not the cleanest. They don't update their portal quickly enough. Their blood work takes ages. i have had complete testing done with same day results maximum next day numerous times before and it has never taken this long. I also felt like the doctor was very sweet but very pushy in her opinion. She wouldn't listen to our complete query when we would ask for her opinion but rather answer in a no before we even finished our question. Il chose a practice next time that has more frequently reviewed reviewers posts and not just two three yelp reviews, that in itself is shady. read more

I have been a patient of Dr Rao now for 3 years. My last primary care physician left the practice and what a difference it has been. I saw her last week for a physical. I was greeted promptly, blood drawn, moved to a room, and seen by her in 20 minutes. There is no rush, she takes her time with you and listens!
