They always make the kids feel comfortable and even excited to go back and get toy surprises. The office is clean and totally geared toward kids, with toys in the lobby and even a horse saddle for the x-ray chair! There's lots of colorful fun artwork on the walls, TVs on the ceiling make our kids smile! while getting their teeth cleaned!! They also have fun contests a few times each year, like send in a postcard with prizes for nearest, furthest, most colorful, etc. They don't take accept insurance, but we keep going even though they're out off network for us. Plenty of off-street parking in a small free parking lot. I would usually like to add lots of photos with my review. Sorry, I got photos only of my kids getting their teeth cleaned.

Dr. Lopez has all the qualities I look for: she connects with us and communicates well, knows the current science, is highly skilled and experienced, takes the time to get to know us and make personalized treatment plans, is transparent and includes us in decision-making, and prioritizes prevention over procedures. Her office staff are also friendly, easy to reach and responsive. We trust her so much that we have chosen to pay out of pocket to see her when our dental insurance changed and no longer included her practice. Dr. Lopez clearly values the quality of her work and patient relationships, a rarity in this modern era of high-volume practices, and we are so fortunate to have been part of it. We brought our son here for his first 2 check-ins. Each time they looked in his mouth for a few…read moreminutes, gave a thumbs up, and gave us some very quick tips about brushing and eating. For the second appointment, the dentist was 20 minutes late (I saw her arrive at the office). She looked in his mouth and said everything looked great. We had been using a silicone brush that bothered him less but didn't seem that effective. The dentist said that was fine and sent us on our way. Less than two weeks later, we found black spots on each of his two front teeth. We brought him in the next day and they said they were cavities. They also said that these don't just pop up overnight. Why they didn't catch them the week prior is beyond me. We did a silver fluoride treatment the following business day. They sent us on our way with the instructions "don't let him eat or drink anything in the next 30 minutes." We followed those instructions and his teeth still managed to get brown spots on them. When we called, they offered some explanation about saliva spreading the fluoride. At this point, we were fed up and went to a different dentist. They fixed the fluoride spots, gave a more thorough exam, and spent far more time talking about dental care for a baby than the dentists at Solano Smile ever did. Solano Smile might be good for older kids but I absolutely would not recommend them for infant care.

Compared to other dental practices, this one doesn't have the latest flashy technology (cushy chairs, TVs above the patient chair, and other shiny equipment). None of this is necessary, but it's an added bonus in case you're looking for that type of dental experience. One improvement I would suggest is to create an email or text notification to manage appointments and reminders. I often get a reminder phone call 1 day before my appointment and by then, I may have scheduled over the time slot (my bad). My schedule is dynamic so having an easy way to change appointments without playing phone tag with Brenda could be beneficial for everyone.
