My wife and I signed up for HIPnation at a time we were moving into Georgia and had a temporary…read morelapse in insurance, but had also just found out we were having a baby. Rushing to get our insurance coverage would have been a nightmare, but HIPnation was referred by a local friend and it was the best decision! Even with great employer coverage, we decided to keep HIPnation as a supplement because the medical experience is so superior. Our primary is very engaged with our family and gives us specialist referrals over text message. We can visit for any concern and aren't paying out-of-pocket. Our OB is "in network" with HIPnation so even though we're using our work insurance for his practice's billing, we're not paying the visit deductibles toward our annual family out-of-pocket. Even when we're going through a 3rd-party vendor like LabCorp, HIPnation proactively advises us on the best way to bill it to reduce costs. I'd say the number one benefit of HIPnation is always having access to our primary, regardless of who your employer is or what their plan options are. If we wanted to take a sabbatical, it would no longer mean lapses in coverage. It also feels great (for the first time) to truly have your medical provider advising you in your family's best interests, rather than focusing on what can be billed and how. The only downside I can think of is HIPnation is hyperlocal at the moment. It's an Atlanta thing, as far as I can tell. It's a model I would hope to see spread.
