This in home service was an absolute lifesaver for my family. I am an only child living in Chicago, while my parents live in the suburban Atlanta. My dad had some serious health issues and was in the hospital for a month. He got discharged on a Friday. The day before we still had not located a 24 hour caretaker. Additionally, my mom was not equipped to provide the care he needed. We called Greta the night before my dad was discharged. By the next day Greta provided us with a 24 hour caretaker, she personally ran errands for my parents to get them necessary supplies, and was at the hospital to oversee the discharge of my father. When my father arrived home, it was difficult for him to walk and take care of himself. After 2 weeks, he was able to independently care for himself again. The quality of care from all the caretakers was amazing. They are there to help with everything but will also safely motivate their client to move and become more independent. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them. After we canceled care, Greta continued to call and check in to make sure we were ok. After using Golden Home Services for several months, I fired them for the following reasons: 1. Betrayal of confidentiality (owner communicated with the director of the assisted living facility about our family without permission. 2. Unreliability of caregivers ( caregivers canceling at last minute and/or showing up late by as much as 15 min to 2 hours, sometimes requiring me to leave before their arrival so as not to miss my appointments. 3. Falsifying clock in/clock out times of caregivers because caregivers were allowed to use their own Cell phones. 4. Untrained caregivers ( did not know how to get patient from sitting to standing or how to give showers and dress) 5.Flagrant disobedience by caregivers of my explicit instructions. 6. Obvious alliance with a d defense of the assisted living facility rather than the client. 7. Caregivers sent with an "attitude" or were non communicative. 8. Caregivers sent who were so overweight they could not perform necessary duties. 9. High turnover of caregivers causing me to have to spend as much as 2 hours showing someone new the routines of the day as well as causing me to miss appointments unexpectedly. On one particular day, a caregiver left my husband, a redhead with 3 recently removed skin cancers , in the bright sun midday long enough to get severely burned. See picture. Complete disaster! Promised companion care services for my mom, had someone scheduled, didn't show up and the company was clueless. I kept having to chase them down to find out what was going on. Then pushed "shared services" on me for my mom, which said she didn't need (she needed a companion). Was told they would do their best to find someone for the next day and would call me in the morning. They did not call by the time promised, so I called them and of course they had no care for my mom. Fired them on the spot. Then the best part? They sent me a bill with "shared services" on it for the day no one showed. I refused to pay it and told them to have it removed. What did they do instead? Send a shared services worker to my mentally challenged mother and pushed her to sign a form saying she received services. These are not good people. Stay away! Far away! read more

My family has been using Golden Home Services for my father and my mother since 2007 as they have both experienced physical and mental declines as they age. Golden Home has always been very flexible and reliable when it came to changing needs, such as when my father needed 24-hour care near his death and my mother has needed only a little assistance daily morning and evening. The caregiver-patient match can be challenging as different caregivers have different strengths and weaknesses, but Golden Home and their management have always been very accommodating to our unique needs and generate care plans based on their assessments and our family's input. We've been able to negotiate fair rates and have never felt that we were taken advantage of either in our times of desperate need nor during better times. My mom has a strong personal relationship with her daily caregiver that has given her and us peace of mind. Yes, you must carefully assess what type of person your elder needs and prefers, and then carefully vet the candidates sent out, and getting past the first week can be difficult! But once the right match is made everyone is happy. They're always there to pick up the phone and respond to whatever situation we've thrown at them. Golden Home Services has been helping my mom who lives in an Independent Living community. While she is independent, there are times through the day or night when she needs some oversight and cannot stay alone. The caregivers Golden Home Services has sent have been wonderful. They help my mother get ready for bed, help around the apartment, make sure she takes her nightly medications, and are a source of companionship for her when she is afraid to stay alone at night. Not only does my mother rest easy, but our whole family does as well. The staff in the office are very caring from the person who answers the phone to the person who handles the billing! A Golden Home worker recently gave my mother the wrong medication which required emergency transport to the hospital and came close to killing her. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Many of their employees are rude, incredibly lazy and incompetent. Do not trust a loved one to this company. When I complained to an employee about yet another life threatening incident caused by a Golden Home employee, Dreama, the manager of the business, made a false statement to the police and attempted to have me arrested in my mother's home. Another employee stole thousands of dollars from my mother, all well documented with police reports, but Golden Home refuses to pay. Golden Homes cares about one thing; billing maximum hours. What I observed while I was visiting my mother was heartbreaking, I shudder to think what went on when no was around to monitor. They fed my mother, a diabetic, the most unhealthy diet imaginable, soda pop, ice cream and sugar muffins. They would cook unappetizing meals days in advance, and when my mother refused the disgusting food, they would simply present it again, hours later. As a result, my mother weighed 79 pounds and was in hospice when I arrived. After getting rid of Golden Homes and supervising her diet, she is thriving, weighs 115 pounds, completely healthy, out of hospice and loving life again. Georgia is notoriously lax in enforcing actions against these operations, and monitoring is virtually non-existent. Do not trust a loved one to this shady operation. read more

Since Oct 2013 my mother has been living in a nursing home. Due to her dementia, her anxiety level is high so she requires a companion to direct her and suggest activities. The nursing home gave me a list of companies that provide services. From the list I called Golden Homes and since then they have provided the care my mother needs which is more than the nursing staff and I can provide. Over the almost 2 years now, Mother has met over 15 of the Golden Home sitters. Most have been very good, a few were not a good fit. Fortunately for the past 9 months Mother has had the same 3 or 4 sitters so the consistency and quality in her care has been wonderful. We are very fortunate that she has sitters that go above the normal expectation of a companion by assisting with toileting and eating. When the hair salon at the facility was closed one week, the sitter washed and styled Mother's hair. The sitters treat her as if she were their mother or a dear friend and have been her advocate with the nursing staff when she was not well. The administrative office of Golden Home Services has been great at scheduling to have someone there even with a short notice. Once I was sick and I could not be there on the time that Mother and I normally have together, so they quickly had someone familiar with Mother to come in my place. They are also quick to fill spots if a sitter can not come as scheduled. During the snow storms when the Atlanta area was shut down they still provided for my mother's care without missing a beat. read more

My Mother suffers from Dementia and Golden Home was the servce we used to get help in our home. The first person they sent out went to sleep on the couch. They sent another lady who was very good...but she had to leave because of a family illness. Every care giver they sent after her was horrible. We had one other experience with one of their caregivers that was positive...but one night after the caregiver left..my Mom had an accident and we needed help getting her cleaned up. I called the number for Golden Home, because one of the reasons we signed up was their claim to work 24 hours a day and have no minimum, but when I called on a Saturday night at 10p...I was told they could not send someone for a short period of time...so, then I said well, send them for 4 hours...I was then told that they would not send someone because they would be leaving in the middle of the night and that would be unsafe. They offered no help at all in a crisis situation. I was told more than once the our home...which is in Cobb County...was so far for their caregivers to drive to...but on their website, they claim to cover Cobb County...not just certain parts of it. I called the management of Golden Home to express my concerns and was told that "while we try to offer 24 hour service and be on call..."in other words...their website if false advertising. My Mom is still bed bound and very ill. I will not ever use Golden Home for anything. Their caregivers are not reliable and they charge significantly more an hour then they pay their employees. I called them once to tell them that their caregiver was late and they informed me she was there. I had my family on the line from my house and they said she was not there. While I was on the phone, the caregiver rang the doorbell. She had checked in with the office from her cell phone (which is not supposed to be allowed). Anytime I would complain about a caregiver...they would inform me that they had never had complaints about this person...probably because the person was staying with someone who had no family with them to see how poorly they were being cared for. Please check out other caregivers. Golden Home does not deliver on their services they say they will provide. Very disappointing. read more

This company provides auxiliary services under the name Parc Care to Parc at Piedmont Independent Senior Living Facility in east Cobb County. I have used this company on several occasions to assist a family member living at Parc at Piedmont with medication reminders and 24/7 sitters. My most recent experience with this company and the services they provided was less than acceptable. While there were 2 of several sitters that provided excellent care and clearly had some form of medical assistance care training the remaining sitters were incompetent to the point that they could barely speak English and I suspect not be able to read it which led to the following potential life threatening circumstances if my family member had been taking certain types of medication; 1) a day sitter administered the bedtime medicine in the morning one day, probably within 12 -14 hours of the previous nighttime dose. The result is that my family member slept the entire day and into the night until about 9:30 pm, then they were awake all night and throughout the next day, and 2) they double dosed the daytime medicine at some point during a 2 day period resulting in my having to go to the pharmacy and obtain a replacement dose of meds. Now, the medicine was pre-packaged by the pharmacy in pods. Each pod was clearly marked with the month, day, day of the week, and "morning" or "bedtime". This company clearly does not have the proper protocols in place for managing medications when sitters are being utilized. In addition, I discussed the issue of the nighttime meds being given in the morning with an officer of the company on the day it occurred. I just paid the bill from this company. You would have thought that they would have made an adjustment to their bill for their admitted mistake. No, they did not, which further indicates to me that it is not about the customer and customer service, it's about the money. read more

My father is wheelchair bound and needs care every day. The experience we had with Golden Home Services left a lot to be desired. It began with the lady they sent out to his home. She was very critical of the family. We felt we could do no right. She would make a special trip to the county dumpster every day just to throw away 1/2 bag of garbage. Then she billed us round trip mileage for those trips to the dumpster without our consent. She also worked overtime and charged us without our consent. She unnecessarily did 4 loads of laundry per day which caused major plumbing problems and a flood in my dad's basement. The day of the flood she stressed out and quit on the spot leaving my father with no one to take of him. In addition to this, I had to contact the main office many times regarding billing questions. They often over charged us for the services provided. The last time this happened, it took over a month and many phone calls on my end to finally get it cleared up. In my opinion, I would stay away from Golden Home Services. They are not worth what we had to put up with. read more
