We had a very nice stay at the historic old Prince Rupert Hotel when in Shrewsbury.
The hotel is very old and part of this old character is very evident. The place is rambling, with numerous hallways, sloping floors, and one very old wooden staircase, all of which is part of the charm of places lie this for me. Some rooms have a lot of old character, although others do not.
The lobby area was modernised and is now somewhat bland, but it is still nice, attractive, and comfortable.
The rooms were comfortable and our room still had some old exposed beams, but otherwise was modernised, mostly in a somewhat bland style, but still nice and it was pretty large with a good bathroom and fixtures.
Staff were nice, a glass of port was provided on checking in. Breakfast was in the lovely dining hall and including continental buffet plus a very good cooked breakfast/full English.
The location is excellent, in the heart of the old town a short walk from everything, but on a quiet street. We had a nice view onto characterful old Fish Street from our room. read more
