Is the USPS on vacation here in Bend, OR?? Have not had any mail delivery since 12/9/2025. No…read moremail 12/10, no mail 12/11, no mail 12/12 and nothing yet today. They are delivering Amazon packages though! I did catch the USPS out delivering the Amazon packages and he said they were literally dumped with pallets of packages from Amazon. Perhaps Amazon needs to pay a subsidy during the holiday season so the USPS can hire the additional hands needed? Or Amazon should consider a presence here in Bend! This is all affecting the small online business I am attempting to operate here in Bend. I still have 2 packages that were hand carried to the USPS at 97701 on 12/9/2025 and as of 12.13.2025, they have yet to be scanned for tracking by my customers. We have no way of knowing where they are. Customers are paying $5.50 for the USPS service and this is not the service they expect to receive.

Big(ish), well-stocked with books, magazines, CDs and such, has numerous free computers, has a good wi-fi system. - Lots of reading areas with comfortable seating. - Staff are friendly and helpful. - A great local section if you're interested in learning about Central Oregon. - Plentiful parking and lots of bike racks. - The online system (which serves the Deschutes system not just the Bend branch) works well and includes downloadable ebooks.

However, when those rooms are not being used by groups, they could be used by individuals who might be working on projects that require more space or maybe they need to do a study call over Zoom or Google Meets. However, the DPL does not allow that under any circumstances at least that's what I was told. Seems a waste of resources to heat, cool and light a space that no one is using. I guess the DPL doesn't mind blowing the public's money in order to follow random rules that make about as much sense as gills on cactus.

But I was impressed - not surprised - with the helpfulness of the ranger at the counter in explaining what they had in the way of trail and 4WD maps for the Deschutes and Ochoco forests. The facility is well maintained, beautiful and expansive. The staff are friendly and ready and eager to help. Parking is ample and one of the well defining characteristics of the Forest office is the dog park adjacent to the Forest which offers a great deal of space for you or your friendly pooch to run wild. Definitely a great stop while in and around the town.

When I called for proof the receptionist said she had no idea what I was talking about and could not get a message to the counselor about my issue. Now I'll have to pay for this interlock devise to be in my car a whole month that I should be able to drive because they dropped the ball on my paperwork for 9 months after I completed their program with no issue.
