Just moved to the area and found this gem! I was looking for a welcoming, updated, clean salon with experienced stylists. I found this salon while searching online near Tyler, TX and surrounding towns. It is very easy to find, located near the Tyler Mall and is next to shopping centers. There was ample parking close to the business. I was greeted immediately when I came through the door by my stylist, Alex. She was finishing up her current client and asked me if I wanted a water or soda while I waited in their comfortable waiting area. They have soft comfortable chairs and couches and reading material on the waiting tables. They also had this cute self love card that had little comments such as "you are loved", "you are beautiful", etc which I thought was a nice touch. Their single bathroom is clean and bright with cute decorations. The decor in the styling area was modern abstract with crazy cool triangle mirrors. While the decor and ambiance of a business is great and all, it is also great that the place was clean. The floors were very clean and all the stylists there were sure to clean up and sanitize as well. Alex was very nice and social, she knew exactly what she was doing and I felt confident in her styling. She was also always asking me if I was comfortable or needed anything which was wonderful. I am not a big talker when getting my hair done since I always get super sleepy when someone is messing with my hair LOL. I had biolage done and a trim which took about 2.5 hours. Very happy with the coloring and trim. One of my favorite things about this salon was the rinsing sinks and the neck support. It was so nice to have a proper neck support that did not make my neck hurt bad afterwards. Definitely going back!!! read more

Hair salon decor is pretty basic nothing fancy. I came here because Stacey (who I worked with in the past) started working here awhile back. She was able to get me in quickly. My roots were going in fast and my hairstylist told me I would have to wait 2 months. Stacey was more than happy to accommodate my hectic schedule. I told her I needed touch also on my highlights. Of course I don't think she realized just how long my hair was. It took her about 3 hours to get it all done. I felt so badly that it was that long. She was great though. She made sure to ask me what I wanted to accomplish. It was well worth the hour drive to have her so my hair. read more

The second time I asked her to cover up the blonde with my natural color without dyeing my roots. The color match was spot on and she did exactly what I asked. I had an appointment with Shaun at 11 yesterday. My hair was blonde with highlights and lowlights. I wanted a ombre silver or light grey color. I showed him pictures and was willing to compromise if he could get it as close as possible to what colors I wanted. I guess it was too close to lunch time for him because he slapped one greyish brownish something color on it and he was done. I cannot even describe the color of my hair now. I will be paying to get it fixed at a real salon. The owner was more worried about texting me and telling me how unfair I was to her stylist than the fact that my hair is jacked up. She didn't offer to fix it or refund money. Bad business and terrible customer service. read more

Once I booked my appointment I got an immediate text from the stylist. She asked questions about the cut I wanted. Then she confirmed my appointment. It was really nice to be reached out to so quickly. I was excited to go in. What wasn't great was walking into the salon only to be told they double booked me with someone else. Even after already confirming with the stylist that I could be seen. I'm unsure if they just thought my booking was a joke because of my unusual name. Even after I sent Ashley photos of my hair when asked. Maybe they just thought I wasn't a real person? If this is the case. It's genuinely snarky and shitty thing to do. The worst part about it was the wasted time. I had plans later that day and wanted to get my hir styled for it. No one contacted me beforehand to tell me about the mistake they made. So I had to rush around to find a stylist and even still I couldn't find someone who had enough time to style my hair. This was just a crappy way to start my day. To have a company inconvenience and stress me out like this. Especially on a day when I had plans I wanted this cut and style for. Add a number to your google page so people can call and confirm appointments beforehand to stop wasting customers time. read more

I have never been brave enough to change my hair so drastically and Shaun gave me the confidence to go for it this year. Oh my goodness!! I just saw Stacy today and she did the BEST job on my hair EVER! I have curly hair (3 b/c). As everyone with curly hair knows... the struggle is real. She did a dry cut (the way curly hair should be cut because our hair wet looks and feels nothing like it does in its natural state) and even gave me bangs! She did this all in a very efficient manner, which is GREATLY appreciated when you just have a lot of other demands in life. AND she didn't try to sell me a bunch of expensive products. Additionally, they worked me in with only just a couple of hours notice. I am so thankful and have already booked my next appointment!! I HIGHLY recommend Stacy for curly cuts. It is so hard to find someone who can do this and really is a specialty. And if you want to go to a place that respects your time, is accommodating, kind and isn't high pressure in their sales. I met one of the Stylist by chance just after moving to Tyler. Decided to give it a try and must say it is hands down the best salon I have encountered in years. I apologize to my former salon. The atmosphere is relaxing, the stylist are friendly, knowledgeable and pay careful attention to detail. I trust this salon and will continue to visit often. Not a good experience. Showed the stylist a picture of the cut I wanted, and she didn't even come close. Cut my bangs straight across, and way too short, (to the middle of my forehead), when the style has long bangs, to the eyebrow. I told her not to cut them, but she did anyway. She didn't even out the sides, one side was longer than the other...did not blend the texturing anywhere on my head. She textured the underside of the hair, not the topside. Had to ask her to use a round brush and dryer to get her to style the cut....she fail here as well. For a stylist that says she has 22 yrs experience...it is obviously not with precision detail when cutting fine hair with a lot of texturing. It was obvious that she didn't pay close attention to my preferences, and failed with the haircut overall. Will not be coming back to Prism. read more

I want to clarify a few things. 1) We settled for a price cheaper than the $430 you wanted to charge me. But, it was more than the original $155. I still paid $260...$105 more than I should have. 2) My daughter neglected to inform me BEFORE you started because you didn't tell her she would be charged by the hour until AFTER you started and she was sitting in the chair with orange hair. 3) After you went up on price she told you she didn't want bayalage. She only wanted one color but your stylist did it anyways. According to the many one star reviews, this is something you do quite often. 4) Budget wasn't the issue. Your ridiculous upcharge is. You tripled the price and did not inform my daughter of the absurd upcharge until her hair was orange. She never would have agreed for you to proceed. This I know about my child. You took advantage of a teenager sitting in your chair plain and simple. 5) You are correct. My daughter denied speaking with you about the cost of her hair and is telling the truth. Once again, there isn't any audio so I don't have a clue as to your conversation with Stacy while my daughter sat there. 6) In one paragraph you state we met civilly, in the next you say I blew up. Which is it? As I recall, our conversation was civil until I stated you are a poor business owner. That's when you raised your voice because I offended you. Your office manager even had to step in. 7) You are lying about walking to the front to make sure I didn't make a scene. Your office manager and I walked up to the front so I could pay the $260. She was very cordial and professional as was I. Nothing else was said once we walked out of the back room. 8) When you walked up to me you were irritated. It was obvious when you mumbled "yeah right" after I said I wouldn't leave a review. (Yes, I heard you.) I've never left a review for a business until now. Like I said previously, you tried to stare down my daughter while I stood there. That is why I decided to inform consumers of the type of business you are running. 9) The way I look at it, I didn't pay WAY less. I paid for each service even the ones you added on that weren't asked for (i.e., two hair colors). Remember, I was quoted $155-$175 at the most. I paid $260. I didn't get a deal. I just wasn't going to pay $100 per hour. Who is willing to pay $100 per hour when a large portion of the time is sitting in a chair while you hair processes. 10) Once again, I didn't scream at you or throw rude insults. I just stated the facts and spoke the truth. You are a poor business owner if you triple the price quoted. That's not how you run a successful business. 11) I can't think of a single person who would be okay with what my daughter experienced at your business and wouldn't leave a review. 12) All of the complaints about your business have two things in common: a) You upcharge a lot. (Mine was by far the most. Like I said you saw a teenager and thought you could take advantage of her.) b) You add services that aren't requested. read more

ADDENDUM TO MY REVIEW: Since the co-owner, Haley, wants to be a Fibber McGee and say I cursed at her staff member, I feel the need to defend myself. I have some class, you guys. I'm a business professional myself and would never conduct myself that way. I did ask the colorist (who ruined my hair with a bleach wash) how long she'd had her license - a perfectly valid question considering the circumstances. If that made her cry, then she is pretty sensitive. I will say that she was just as mortified as I was when she saw the "color" she created and the sad state of my hair, which is why SHE decided not to charge me. As well she shouldn't have... Maybe she cried because she ruined her client's hair and knew she was going to have to explain that to her boss. And trust me, I don't need you to ask me not to come to your salon. I would never want to. NOW to address the request vs outcome photo of the correction by Haley... There is a reason my hair was in a pony tail in that photo that she took. It was absolutely fried and embarrassing. Never a good sign when your client immediately puts her hair in a cap, ponytail, bun, etc. So I stand by my honest review and DON'T APPRECIATE Haley's attempt to make me sound like a monster. PS - The profile picture was several days after Haley's correction and several hot oil treatments an an inch cut off. My hair is still severely damaged. Which is the main reason for my frustration. ORIGINAL REVIEW: What a sad joke this salon is. I'm certain if an owner responds, they will claim that I am high maintenance, which I assure you I'm not. I'm pretty easy, as long as I leave looking NOT like a scarecrow. Do you like clown orange hair that breaks off because an inept "colorist" decided a bleach wash was in order. That's right, pulling out all pigment by totally bleaching my hair. If so, then this is the salon for you! I went in with shiny healthy long hair and left in tears. Then to add insult to injury, the owner, Haley, "corrects" my hair by adding more highlights! Yes, strip my hair even more. That's the answer. So I left again, with ginger, dry, horrible hair that started breaking off within days. After my correction (ahem) I was told I could come back and was promised she would properly correct this gross, dry, ginger hair for no extra charge. She charged me for the "correction" by the way. Nice. I waited two weeks to let my hair get over the trauma a bit and called today to schedule phase two of correction. After Haley argued that what I wanted was blonde (I don't know how many times I said I do not want to be blonde) and suggested MORE damaging highlights, she then informed me that I would be charged again. This salon won't last another six months. You've been warned. I was forced by Yelp to enter one star. read more

I'm always very cautious when trusting someone to add color to my hair but Tara really listened to what I wanted to do and made me feel like I was her only client. She paid attention to detail and made sure I got EXACTLY what I wanted before I left. What's even better, though, is how kind she is as a person. I had my hair done here for a wedding. The staff was super friendly and the gal who did my hair, I forgot her name, did a superb job. I did not once hear about how thin and damaged my hair was (which it is, but damn I know that, I don't need to hear it from some stranger). She knew how to style it and the price was reasonable. This is by far the worst hair salon I've ever been to. My first appointment was 5 hours. Had a ombre/balayage done and it was terrible. The color was literally orange and I brought in pictures of what I wanted. Hayley the owner was very accommodating and wanted to help me fix the horrible color I had done. It was nothing of what I asked for. She scheduled me an appointment with Josh about a week later. AGAIN... Terrible. What I explained I wanted, and what Josh said he was going to do wad completely different. That was another 3 hour appointment. By this time it was getting real old that no one at that salon actually knows what they are doing. So, she scheduled me an appointment with her, Hayley, the owner. When I came in for this appointment she determined that I needed to wait to have more bleach put on my hair or it would be very damaged. My hair from the previous two appointments was very dry, brittle, felt like straw and just breaking. She colored over the mess that was done to my hair in my first two appointments with brown. Just to make it look somewhat descent. She gave me a conditioner to use once a week and told me to come back in four weeks to have what I originally wanted done by the other owner, Chris. I should have just stopped there, but I had already paid for this to be done and I really thought maybe 1 person at that salon would know what they are doing. NOPE. Went and had another 4 hour appointment with Chris... AND AGAIN didn't get the color or what I wanted. Even though he explained what he'd do, and him and I picked the color together.... Not what I got. Sad thing is... Is I had this done a few years ago and it was perfect, and I was choosing the same color. So, I know it can be done. Just not at this salon by any of the stylists. Save yourself the trouble, the aggravation and your money and go somewhere else. I promise you this place is terrible. I've never in my life written a review but people need to be aware of this place. They are clueless. And they'll not do what you ask or want. They'll explain it to you as if that's what they'll do... But they won't!! Go somewhere else !!!! I'm only giving 1 star because I have to give at least one to post this review. I'd give negative stars if I could. Hayley in response to your trying so hard to say your salon has any talent at all... One, Kristen had to ask you what color toner to put on my hair... Which came out orange and terrible, you said so yourself when I came to you to fix it. So, not only did Kristen not know what to do... The color you told her to use was NOT what was discussed. So you both are clueless. All you did was put a dark brown toner over what Kristen did, only to cover up the embarrassment that was my hair. THEN... When josh tried fixing it, he too asked you what color toner to use. AGAIN it was terrible. Everything that was discussed as far as what you guys were going to do, that I wanted done... Was far from what was discussed. You claimed the pictures I was using were filtered lol but I showed Chris a pic of my own hair that I had done in North Dakota that took 3 hours and 1 try. That was amazing. So, none of you "talented" stylists really know what you're doing. Every time I was at your salon there wasn't anyone else there. My first appointment I booked in 1 day. That should have been the first red flag that you guys all suck! A talented salon takes time to get in. As far as your other reviews go... You have very few. My hair is very easy to color. Whether I go from black to blonde or black to red... I've never ever had a problem getting the color I wanted. What I wanted from any one at your salon was so very simple but none of you could do it. If you are trying to lighten your hair, think twice before going to Prism (then think 3, 4 and 5 times). I went several months ago and had the worst experience I've ever had at a hair salon. I wanted to go from brown to a medium blonde balayage. I told my hair stylist (Hayley) a full history of my hair, how it reacts to certain dyes, and I asked her if what I wanted was possible. She didn't hesitate to assure me she could give me exactly what I wanted. The first day I was left with weird red-ish roots and slightly lighter brown hair. I was obviously dissatisfied, so they asked me to come back another day. The amount of bleach that they applied to my hair burnt most of the bottom back off. I left with darker roots than I had arrived there with and a patchy ash blonde bottom. It was a disaster. People were asking me why I had done it myself instead of going to a professional. I was devastated with such a bad result after 10 hours in the chair and $250 that I felt obligated to pay after signing a contract at the beginning of the session (should've been my first red flag). I had to ask for a color correction that just left me with a darker brown than I had arrived with. My hair is now the worst it has ever been, super frizzy and terribly damaged, I had to cut most of it off. If it was possible to give this place 0 starts I would. Please, don't let them rob you blind for terrible hair, because that is how I feel. *Edit* In response to the comment left by owner: The reason I asked for a color correction was because my hair was damaged and the contrast between the blonde and the roots (which were colored to be at least a shade darker than what I originally had) was terrible. My fiance and I both agreed that I would look great as a blonde if the dye was performed correctly, but unfortunately it wasn't. I am writing this comment so that no one has to go through the experience that I had at this salon. I moved to Nacogdoches from Austin a couple of years ago. For a while, I would make a hair appointment in Austin when I was visiting friends or family, but that got to be too much trouble. So, I started looking for someone with color knowledge and experience a little closer to home. After looking online and talking to friends, I made an appointment with Hayley. From the first appointment, I have been completely satisfied and very pleased with my hair and the service that I received. The first time, Hayley talked to me about what I had been doing with my hair and how I wanted it to look going forward. She even suggested very tactfully that the current color was not as flattering as it could be - something my daughter-in-law had hinted at as well! She made some suggestions and I told her to do what she thought best. Now, my color is much softer and more natural and the new hair growth blends very well with my true color and the high- and lowlights in it. My hair is shoulder length and Hayley has shortened it a little from how I was wearing it and I like the shorter length too! I couldn't be happier! And I've gotten compliments from friends about how much better my hair looks. I drive 1.5 hours each way to come see Hayley and don't mind a bit. She is caring and professional and I always leave with a great cut and color! Highly recommend~ read more

I came in for an long bob ombré look and came out 4 HOURS LATER with just short blonde hair. (I had long but very thin hair btw). It looked nothing the pictures I showed them and spent over $200 on it! They even admitted to charging me for a Baylage (something they didn't even do). Stupid me right. Will never go there again. And yes, I was your client for a day but never again. So you can say I'm not in your data base anymore because I learned pretty quick. Being in the customer service myself it would've been easy to just charge me for what they did and not what I wanted. I wish I could post pictures of what they did as oppose of what I wanted to show the difference. All I can say is check google AND yelps reviews before you decide to come here. The staff are super nice until they screw you out of your money. I asked them how much it would've been before I did it and they said around $140 and I ended up paying $210. First off, let me say that I rarely leave reviews but I feel I have to this time. I had never been to this salon before, but I was in desperate need of getting my highlights touched up, and I no longer had a steady stylist. So, I made a last minute apt for the following day with Stacey. Now let me say that she is a very sweet girl and I believe she probably did the best she could, but I also think she must be very new. I showed her a pic of the blonde highlights I wanted and was assured that she had done that very color recently and knew just what to do. Well 3 hours later I emerged with a color that was "pretty" but not what I asked for. It was too dark and didn't have enough light blonde in it like I had asked for. Also I was charged $200 for the service and that blew me away! No one told me how much they charged, and I have never paid more than half that! I left thinking maybe I just needed to see it in natural light and get "used" to it, but the following day I reluctantly called and told her that I was unhappy with my hair color. I NEVER do that, but I just paid a lot of money. Stacey was very apologetic and scheduled an appt to fix the issue. Well, I definitely have lighter hair now. It's almost blueish white or sort of gray in color. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I didn't like it, and my hair can't take any more chemicals at this point. In August I spent over $700 in extension, and color which I loved, my stylist was Hayley. My next appointment was end of September which she had someone call me about a month early to say she wouldn't be able to do my hair to please call and reschedule. So I did Hayle was there when I called but didn't talk to me. I rescheduled for October7.... well guess what she had someone else call me today to cancel this appointment... I called and canceled any further appointments. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. This behavior is inexcusable, and very unprofessional...luckily I have already had my hair cared for by another salon, I just had a feeling this was going to happen again, and it did....very disappointed read more
