It was so nasty. Use BAILEYS ONLY. I can get a top shelf at Travinias for $12.00. Not to mention the alcohol was cut with water. I know this because I make Expresso Martini's. We also had a full blown fight almost break out twice with the same people right beside me and the staff walked by worrying about making bar money versus passenger safety. I will not do this for New Years again. The Spirit has a really good thing, but cutting corners will run good customers away guys.

I want to be very honest about my experience with the Corley Mill House. I got married on…read more June 15, 2019. I chose this venue because of the inclusiveness of it all and me living out of town. I don't know that I would choose this venue again due to these 5 most important factors for me: Communication Mrs. Sheila was very good at responding back to my emails very quickly! I was able to reach her by phone and setup times to come in. However, on the pricing sheet it stated there were many other items for use. I asked several times in January and February for the list of items. She said it would be finished by the end of February but I never received it. Food I was the most disappointed with the food. I chose an option for a beef brisket carving station which on the menu explicitly states it is carved in front of guests. There was no carving and the small sliders were already put together. I also chose a mac and cheese action chef station in which the menu also states there are many toppings to choose from such as pulled pork, bacon, mushrooms, ,etc. There were no toppings but bacon for the mac and cheese. The beaufort stew skewers were cold and did not seem very fresh. The bartender made my pineapple, rum, and strawberry drinks all wrong. I sent a very specific email stating how these should be made. Instead the ingredients were poured in a pitcher and served from there. Those drinks were to be made when ordered and shaken. Friendliness The entire catering staff that day were very sweet. However, the bartender had a less than pleasant demeanor and not very friendly. I do not feel I had any issues with Sheila or day-of coordinator Nancy as far as friendliness was concerned. Mrs. Sheila was always able to make time to meet me when I wanted to set a quick meeting. Nancy was very pleasant and friendly the day of. Ease of the day I will say that it was a HUGE relief and help to have Nancy directing the rehearsal and the day of the wedding. It is also a huge help because they do help with clean up and getting things to your car. This is a major plus! I rented and paid for 7 hours. 4:30 to 11:30! I did end up cutting the wedding short because many guests had already left and I was feeling tired. I ended and left around 10 or 10:15. I was very disheartened to hear that my family that stayed behind to gather my personal belongings felt rushed to get out of the house. As I was leaving, things were already being cleaned and put away. This should not have happened as I paid for the event to go to 11:30. Cleanliness On the day of my wedding, the card and gift table linen had several crumbs of some sort on which I had to brush off and a small stain. Positives of the venue Good space and beautiful grounds, help with logistics from Nancy during rehearsal and the day of, and they set up everything for you. Needs Improvement FRIENDLINESS from bartender, cleanliness, quality of food and providing exactly what is offered on the menu, taking the time to understand exactly how I wanted things set up, and making my family feel rushed to gather my belongings even though they were still on paid time.

We chose this venue for both my daughter and now my son's upcoming wedding based on many things, but John's vision for the future of this venue and the new additions, along with his wonderful personality, made The Corley Mill House the perfect spot for our events. The upgrades completed by John, the location, and the inclusion of many items needed for an event really made planning so easy. I highly recommend a visit to this venue as you make wedding plans. A museum on Reconstruction more than about the President himself, it feels like it is lacking on both. If you have the time, this beautiful house is worth it, but you will walk away feeling like something was missing. Reconstruction was a complicated and often ugly situation for both sides, So it can be a very difficult topic. Although there are some artifacts and some good information on static displays with in the home, the tour guide did not seem to know much about either topic. It lacks virtually any furniture or belongings from Woodrow Wilson himself, and it was not very versed in terms of its artifacts from Reconstruction. When telling the story, it is often falls short. Woodrow Wilson lived in Columbia in this house during the period and it shaped his attitudes and opinions and ultimately led him to run for office. That's the primary reason Historic Columbia made the era the focus. I believe it is the only museum dedicated to Reconstruction. Wilson lived in several homes as an adult, but only two growing up. The one in Augusta is much more focused on Wilson. I find the topic and the occupant of the home very fascinating, and if you really want to visit an important American landmark, you definitely should. Keep your expectations tempered though as it may not have enough artifacts from either the president or the era for your taste. There are two tours per day for this house. Visit the Historic Columbia gift shop at the Robert Mills Home to get tickets. It is approximately two blocks away.
